I was pleased with Inside Out. One thing I want to say, though, is while you can tell they put in their usual amount of creative energy in realizing the concept and setting, there was something about it that felt a little grating after a while, and I'm not quite sure what it is.
Maybe it's that it got just a little too tongue-in-cheek. There's a lot of clever stuff in Pixar movies that plays off of the uniqueness of the world they've envisioned and how it's either different or similar to ours, but it all had a tendency to feel a little more... natural? ...in how it was presented, I guess? But there was something about Inside Out where it felt like it was always tugging at your shirt, going "Hey, look, isn't this psychology metaphor really clever?" Something I can't entirely pinpoint right now. Did anyone else feel this way?
Just a nitpick, I guess.
I felt like this when I heard the premise and saw trailers and stuff, but when I watched the movie I was pleasantly surprised
I felt like this when I heard the premise and saw trailers and stuff, but when I watched the movie I was pleasantly surprised
The main thing I was actually worried about was how they were going to go about writing interesting characters that embody only one single emotion, but I guess I really should've known that they weren't gonna be that dumb and actually make them feel things other than whatever emotion they represent.
I thought the way they had Sadness screw everything up at the start of the movie was a little clumsy in terms of writing upon my first viewing, but I saw someone say that it was supposed to be a representation of suppressing your feelings and it made more sense to me.
kaptainkristian makes such high quality videos.
How does he not have more subs.
He just started making them, he'll get more subs with every video, considering that each of his videos gets hundreds of thousands of views even with only 50,000 subs
This guy and Every Frame A Painting make some good videos.
I swear every time I see the Incredibles mentioned somewhere I have to watch it again.
Probably because Incredibles is an amazing movie. Clicked with me in a way other (great) pixar movies don't really.
I'm still so puzzled how this guy kinda just came outta nowhere and started making 10/10 content like this. It's like an alt of another channel he made that he developed from.
I still can't find the beat that he uses at the end of his videos
someone in the comments suggested it was from an OFWGKTA song but I'm starting to think it might just be original
it's really catchy, i wish it was longer
I know this isn't quite as kinetic as the OP vid's presentation, but I found this talk recently and it's pretty neat if you want the more technical talk on how to aid storytelling from a pixar artist

That was beautiful, not at all what I was expecting.

Because he made the channel 4 weeks ago.

Could have went to school for film or animation or something, or had previous YouTube channels for something else (gaming?).
man the rotoscoping backgrounds out of scenes from pixar films for this video would have taken so long and they're so perfect, how???

That's the thing, she's not screwing things up - the whole point of the movie is that [sp]Sadness was just doing her job, and Joy is the one who screwed up by refusing to let her do it, which eventually led to everything spiralling out of control and Riley falling into depression.[/sp]

Precision from experience, with patience and time? And feathering.

This seems plausible, but I wouldn't bet on it. It seems like he hasn't developed his own unique style yet. If he had his own style, we'd be able to instantly point at another channel and say it was him. He's just copying Adult Swim. I'd say he might just be copying Adult Swim to mask his real identity, but he says his name right there in his channel. Kristian Williams.
I'd be willing to bet he came from some other medium in which he was insanely talented (like programming or music), and decided to make videos. It'll be interesting to see his style develop over time.

It's also possible he's been in academia, maybe doing grad work, where he did a lot of dissertations and such.
Since his videos are basically dissertations with flair.
Wouldn't be surprised if he's a film graduate.
