I wonder if there's something in estrogen hormone treatments that causes this type of behavior in a small percentage of people? Like if the intensity of their emotions changes and they can't deal with it. It seems like there's so many examples of people with this type of behavior that end up being M-to-F transgender specifically.

a lot of people have underlying issues that don't really surface until they do just the right things to cause them to
for some people its weed
for others its dealing with collage
Transitioning is particularly fucked up because its VERY, VERY stressful in a society like ours, where people will laugh behind your back and make you feel like garbage

That is attributed to sample bias: you are exposed to that percent of demographic in internet meltdowns due to amount of mtf trangender involved in western indie development, western publication, noisemaking.
The worst HRT can make user feel is depression from improper GID diagnosis- causing dysphoria in person who did not have it. The mental issue of Mauer will have persist before transition, and likely compounding over time.

Depend on locality. For me, large more of ftm. Globally, is more mtf than ftm.
I completely believe Alex on the shit surrounding her involuntary mental health checkout - if it is anything like Texas that process is about as effective as a band aid after getting an arm cut off.
Someone close to me had a mental episode after an ER visit. They didn't know where they lived, convinced they lived in a city hours away. Despite the clear confusion, no transportation, and against the recommendation of the nurses: they were released only days after a medical emergency that almost took their life. Failing to take follow up meds could lead to death? Oh well, good luck.
That experience was so shit it made my head spin.
That isn't to say that Alex should get a free pass on any of the BS done (DMCA, death threats, etc) or that her actions are in any way condonable - but this situation is bad, particularly if Alex has rejected her family's support.
