I wouldn't judge the movie based on the first trailer. This guy is one of those few guys left who does dull trailers to keep the story wrapped till the movie comes out, I remember the D9 trailers being "bleh" as hell, but the movie blew me away.
I'd much rather have a generic boring trailer and have the movie blow me away, rather than the opposite, which we always seem to get nowadays; remember the terminator salvation and cloverfield trailers?
This looks like a good story, but from the trailer it seems to have a classic Hollywood macho protagonist. If that's the case than I'll find it hard to watch, just because they never have any personality and are very black and white.

lol we've only heard him say one line in the trailer, bit soon to judge his personality. But anyways the people that saw the 10 minute footage screening seemed to really like him so I don't think you need to worry.

He's frowning in every shot of the trailer and is bodybuilder buff. Plus, compare Matt Damon's normal voice to his in the trailer. He's making his voice super-gravely. To me it just reeks of same damn 2d character that keeps cropping up in action/sci-fi movies. I might be wrong, but it's just my first impressions. I still think the movie looks good.

I'm not getting the frowning part. fyi the plot of the film is that he's slowly dying and trying to get to elysium to save his life, are you expecting him to be smiling the whole time? But anyways the director already proved he knows how to handle lead characters but alright think what you want.

Man, all the people comparing this to Halo and Iron Man are annoying the shit out of me.
Yeah, I can see where the people make the connections, but even those franchises were inspired heavily by the books that came before.
Comparing this to Iron Man is like comparing Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones.
They are both great franchises, but the other one has fucktons more grit, gore and tits and is made purely for adult eyes. And I bet my ass this will be the same compared to Iron Man and I'll fucking love it.
