The thing is that this is developed by Zenimax Online, and not Bethesda, even if they do have the same mother company.
You don't just drop an IP into the hands of another company and hope they don't maul it. Bethesda likely has strict guidelines and works closely with them.
If it's like Guild Wars in that it's a one-time payment with microtransactions I'm all for it.
does this mean fallout 4 isnt coming out anytime soon

Yes, companies do that. Bethesda answers to Zenimax as well, so if Zenimax wants an MMO that will be familiar to players that's what they will get. I have no doubts that they are in touch with Bethesda (beyond lore and story-related stuff) but in the end it's the producers at Zenimax that decide what will be made. I doubt that Bethesda would make a generic, grind-fest MMO out of their franchise if they had a say in it.
Only thing that will get me to play it is if I can touch the skies after getting touched by a giant.
Whats with bethesda and old guys doing voiceovers for a wall or some inanimate object
All of the info we have about the game sounds awful what the fuck were you thinking Zenimax/Bethesda?
I would like to see every part of Tamriel in one game.

Well you could download TES Arena, it includes all of tamriel
Announcer sounds like Esbern doesn't he?
I'd rather have Fallout Online, but ok.
This game already blows cocks.

Except off-scale and randomly generated. In fact, The Arena world is smaller than the daggerfall world which "only" covers the Illiac Bay.
Two words.
Hero. Engine.

On the subject of scale, all the Elder Scrolls have been tremendously offscale it seems. It's obvious if you read about locations, that they are really much bigger in "reality", than in the games. The sacrifice we pay for open worlds i guess. I remember reading about the Ministry of Truth in Vivec in a book, and it was obviously MUCH bigger than it was portrayed. Same thing goes for basically all cities in all the games.

The Imperial City was massive in The Infernal City. Weye was a large suburb of it rather than 2 huts across the bridge. Can't exactly blame Bethesda though, engine limitations and whatnot. Although they could stand to actually get a good engine. As a matter of fact, Cyrodiil is supposed to be around 11k square miles, instead it was 16.
"too risky"
Yeah fuck all the gameplay that made it a fuckload of cash in the first place ya know?
I'm not disappointed by this, but it is way too damn soon to announce this, that's for sure
A player named emperor of tamriel? Oh jesus.
"XX420WEEDLORDXX" glorious emperor of Tamriel!"
Not developed by Bethesda? Then I shall regard all plot elements as non-canon unless confirmed by previous lore and all level designs as speculative fan-art.
