Sure, but I see a lot of hatred towards the new COD game and I'm actually not entirely sure why, in my opinion it's going in an interesting direction. (And so is battelfield)
I put it towards simple bandwagoning. It's popular to hate CoD, even if it's not a trainwreck, just mediocre. Only legit criticism I had of that trailer was the hardcore Space Oddity cover. Not that it sounded bad, just why?
This trailer tells me almost nothing about the game.
This trailer tells me almost nothing about the game.
i mean, youre objectively wrong there, but alright.
This trailer tells me almost nothing about the game.
It's a AAA WWI FPS. The first real AAA WWI FPS in history (Verdun is Indie). AAA means loadse of money getting poured into it to make the game look and play good. I.e. This is going to be an interesting 2016 for gaming. This is the first Battlefield anything to get me seriously interested in buying in ages.

[editline]7th May 2016[/editline]
This trailer tells me almost nothing about the game.
The goal wasn't to describe the game in depth, it was to build hype. This isn't a new thing in marketing. Though, it already said plenty. WWI Battlefield game.
Looks neat, I want to see unaltered gameplay first though. I don't want it to end up like Hardline and just be BF4 with a new skin and a few new features.
Sick, I mentioned back when that WWI leak happened a while ago that the air combat would actually be interesting, and that the planes would no longer look silly flying as slowly as they do in BF3/BF4. Sweet.
Only just now i notice it says "Game engine footage" at 0:05 No fucking way.
Only just now i notice it says "Game engine footage" at 0:05 No fucking way.
Based on Battlefront, I expect this game to look amazing.
I like where they are going with this, and I hope the game turns out good.
Can't wait to see the gameplay footage at EA Play on June 12. :D
I don't care about the trailer music, all I pray for is the music in the game won't be like that. but thats unlikely
Better be able to throw hand grenades out of the planes and onto people's heads just like they used to
I don't care about the trailer music, all I pray for is the music in the game won't be like that. but thats unlikely
We live in the age where every fuckoff musician takes old swing or jazz or marching band or whatever music, mixes it up with some modern synth samples in FL studio and it sounds amazing, I don't see a reason why they did what they did with the trailer or why they couldn't have retro music in the game. like take a listen to this shit Tell me why this game can't have something like this.
Better be able to throw hand grenades out of the planes and onto people's heads just like they used to
or just wave at each other
I don't care about the trailer music, all I pray for is the music in the game won't be like that. but thats unlikely
According to the SH thread, there was some music played during the livesteam that sounded more like a mix between the old battlefield themes, the old medal of honor OST and some arabian music. I tried looking through the livestream and I couldn't find it, but maybe you'd have more patience.
-Snip, nevermind-
Here's quite an accurate and indepth trailer analysis The only slight mistake was that he accidentally referred to German flame trooper being from the Axis when it was the Central Powers at that time.
This trailer tells me almost nothing about the game.
It's set in WW1, has biplane combat, neat weapons like chemical weapons, flame throwers, trench maces, has horses, early tanks, destruction at the scale of previous Battlefields if not better, airships. But you know, nothing about the game.
i'm glad they did what they did with the music, an orchestral piece would've been super boring and forgettable
i'm glad they did what they did with the music, an orchestral piece would've been super boring and forgettable
Please explain why this is boring, if they changed it up it would probably fit the trailer.
Good god this puts the new CoD to shame.
In CoD's defense, its never really been about the graphics. [editline]7th May 2016[/editline]
i'm glad they did what they did with the music, an orchestral piece would've been super boring and forgettable
You have no idea how forgetable this is, because its used in almost every game churned out by AAA devs atm. Much rather have an orchestral piece that fits.
Only just now i notice it says "Game engine footage" at 0:05 No fucking way.
It only means that it was pre-rendered with the same engine as the game, not that any of this is gameplay nor how things will look final. So they only thing to expect from this statement is that the game will look good, but even then they might just change things.
Please explain why this is boring, if they changed it up it would probably fit the trailer.
well, nobody would've noticed it because it's p much what you'd expect orchestral music with war games is way overdone imo
well, nobody would've noticed it because it's p much what you'd expect orchestral music with war games is way overdone imo
Mate, they're bringing back a genre that everyone hated back in the day because it was so overdone, I doubt anyone would care if they used orchestral music.
I actually like that remix, but for the love of God why did they use it in this trailer? At least it wasn't as bad as that Space Oddity cover the new COD used. I wonder how DICE will do WW1, their typical style would probably not be very effective at illustrating WW1.
are people forgetting they used a Rihanna remix in one of the BF4 trailers its kind of expected at this point
Mate, they're bringing back a genre that everyone hated back in the day because it was so overdone, I doubt anyone would care if they used orchestral music.
exactly, nobody would care nobody would care at all
exactly, nobody would care nobody would care at all
The fact is, they would care, numerous people have been disliking the overused "Seven Nation Army" song for the very reason you stated why they shouldn't of used orchestral music "Because it's overdone", also Battlefield has been using modern music for quite some time now, it'd be refreshing to see them use orchestral music.
Guys shut the fuck up about the music already. It's page 5 for fucks sake. First off, 90% of the alternative suggestions in this thread are garbage. Second, this trailer isn't targeted for the battlefield fanboy crowd. Battlefield has a diehard community; DICE knows that they don't have to try very hard to get my purchase. COD has been beating BF in sales numbers for years now, the purpose of the trailer is to win part of the COD audience over to the battlefield side. I promise you that if you took a survey of the general populace, showed them the trailer with this music versus any other proposed variant in this thread, the original trailer would win. The only suggestion so far that holds any weight is a remaster of the original theme, and the most of the reasoning behind is based in nostalgia. Nostalgia doesn't work on the target audience of this trailer, because the target audience probably wouldn't even recognize that track in the first place. So shut the fuck up already about your music preferences, stop pretending like you're smarter than DICE's entire marketing team, and go back to talking about the part that actually matters - the gameplay.
