Incredible
I'm going to get this so hard I could personally pay off the production costs with a single pre-order
And here I thought 2033 was going to be a one-off gem
FUCK, they changed his cool wristwatch into some digital futuristic LED crap.
I do agree, I liked the more old school analog-ish watch better. Personally I would prefer if it had an improved analog-like watch instead. The newer futuristic watch does not fit the style even remotely as well. It supposedly does make it more realistic in terms of what Artyom would probably use in reality, but not nearly as cool in terms of immersion.
They make all these cool hand animations yet I can't see my legs.

Not being able to see your legs is a mandatory trademark of any top tier FPS... Other then the first Halo and other things as such *nervous backpedaling laughter*

1. Stop trying to exploit and beat money out of people on every possible opportunity.
2. It can be logically considered your fault for not using restricted browsing, if you are concerned about your son's browsing safety. If you want to be a paranoid reality concealing bastard, atleast do the job properly.
meh, I'm not a fan of the gas mask filters automatically adding more time on your new wrist watch thing. I liked the old system where you had to switch them manually and stuff
I agree to that as well, the more manual it is, the greater sense of immersion ultimately is. That is unless the mechanics are poorly designed and obtrusive, which is not even remotely the case for these games. (or in the very least in the first one)
Oh god, my sides.
Is this a real comment?
I can't WAIT for this. I played through Metro 2033 at least 4 times on the hardest difficulty.
This looks even better! I hope it's just as optimized!

Those are nixie tubes bro, the oldest high-tech stuff the Soviet Union had.

Oh, that makes me slightly happier
... wait, they really had them in such small size?
EDIT: Evidently
Too bad I never got to play the first one, because it was so unoptimized that I couldn't get a decent framerate out of it.

yeah, Metro isn't really friendly to older computers.
These days all post-apocalyptic FPS games look the same too me
I feel sorry for you.

I was hoping the time given was how much time you had in total but still having to switch filters.
Will be kinda pants if they remove that feature.

You didn't have to switch them manually he would automatically switch them out anyway.
how did an explosion that far away manage to bring a jet down from commercial flight levels that quickly?
It's actually beautiful.

A hypothetical blast wave from a relatively large explosion would travel quite far.
New watch design? Damn, I just got mine.

Sexy
The old watch was cool, but I swear it never worked properly in my experience. No matter how many filters i had it barely ever went far into orange.

It is now ofcourse obligatory for you to wrestle a bear, to receive an accurate imitation of the experience.
More of the same, can't wait.
One thing that I hate is the weird black outline caused by too much motion blur. Not sure what causes it but I've seen it in a few games and it's super immersion-breaking.

What difficulty were you on

it actually syncs up with the time you've set for your PC or whatever, the time in your area must have confused it a bit somehow.
[editline]17th July[/editline]
either that or you were on a low difficulty
Looks good, however I can't believe they haven't changed the Stock sound when Artyom falls.
kaching ching tut ching.

The sounds bothered me, too. LOTS of them were identical to 2033, ranging from footsteps to gasmasks to gun-related sounds. Glad the voice acting has been stepped up a notch however!
Nuclear weapons fry electronics I think. Also massive shockwaves.
Depends where they blow up. If they blow up in higher atmosphere, it will disable all electronics.
[editline]17th July 2012[/editline]
I think.
Yeah, a digital LED watch is so shitty compared to an old mechanical watch, totally.
Realistically, the digital watch would be better, but the old watch matched Metro much better imo.
I could never figure out how much juice my filter had looking at that fucking thing, though.
maybe people were too dumb to figure out an analog watch
i always am wearing an analog watch so this concept scares me

I wear analogs only. I was taking about those little meters on the right, I had no idea how to read them.
