Yeah, a digital LED watch is so shitty compared to an old mechanical watch, totally.
Mechanical watches as well as analogue technology in general is ten times cooler than digital equivalents.
Yeah, I know what you mean about the meters. They still confuse me every time I look at them.
The digital watch is just so out of place IMO
I'm sorry but I can not stand these games in English even if you don't understand Russian turn on subtitles.
The English is just the unbearable
HOORRRRP DOORRRRP KIRRRROV RRREPORRRTING
unkle borbonnnn
FUCK, they changed his cool wristwatch into some digital futuristic LED crap.
Agreed, I think it looks too modern for the rest of the low-tech setting. Even tho it's 2034, in the first game we only see computers in the final mission or so. The beeping when picking up a filter, and blinking when it's at 00:00, is also pretty annoying imo. The latter you'll probably only encounter rarely because running out of filters means a quick Game Over, but the beeping could get annoying really fast ingame.
But who knows, maybe they'll make the old watch available via preorder/dlc/new game+. They liked its designed enough to produce replica and this is pre-alpha footage.
The sounds bothered me, too. LOTS of them were identical to 2033, ranging from footsteps to gasmasks to gun-related sounds. Glad the voice acting has been stepped up a notch however!
pre-alpha footage, they probably recycled a lot to get it ready for E3. They revised the bastard gun's design for 2034, so obviously they've paying attention to detail otherwise.
the first Metro was something quite special but am i the only one who really got fatigued about half-way through the game?
how did an explosion that far away manage to bring a jet down from commercial flight levels that quickly?
EMP - Electromagnetic Pulse
Fries electronics.
No quickscoping in video -3/10 not interested.
No but seriously, this looks amazing. Really really looking forward to this, gonna be great. I got really immersed in the video, and it went by far too quickly.

Well I really wanted to kill everything if that's what you mean, which is cool because they gave you a bunch of ammo at the end with which to kill everything.
I just bought Metro 2033 today, can't wait for this!
so that's what the outside world looked like when it's being blown up to bits
Pity that so few games show this, I found this really unsettling for me to watch the horror of the pilots as they got their plane throught the clouds. [sp]Even more so as they got their eyes shredded when the windshield blew on their faces and shit started flying in.[/sp] Amazing how they managed to manouveur the powerless plane enought to not smash it into the collapsing rooftops.
shockwaves are a bitch
also, they were looking directly at the explosion, which, realistically, would burn out your eye sockets
Nope, the initial flash is the equilevant of standing roughly 50 million kilometers from the sun. Anyone being incredibly unlucky enought to look at the point of detonation will lose permanently their sight when their eye optics literally burn. But anything after that is just burning material being sucked into the fireball, it wont affect your sight but at that point you should probably take shelter from the thermal and ionizing radiation, with the latter not lasting as long but hurting twice as much in the long run.
just for everyone saying they don't like the digital watch
it's not digital, it's nixie tubes (which are cool as fuck)

Probably troll, but knowing youtube, it isn't that far fetched.
why would a kid his age be doing a project on something as niche as the moscow metro system, anyways?
For those of you interested, it's not exactly like the one in Metro, but it's pretty damn cool. Wozniak and a few other rich geeks wear em, and they're overall pretty cheap considering the rarity of the tubes!

Found a better one!

I honestly didn't think I'd like the new Moscow in this one. While not faithful tot he novel, the arctic Moscow was pretty cool, and while the outdoor above-ground environments weren't the best in 2033, this game seems to have fixed that really quite well.
I'm hoping they're going to release 2034 in English parallel tot he game so I can finally buy it.
Maybe my great grandchildren's desktops will be able to max this out!
After watching this I really should buy the other Metro games, how many are there? I also hear there is a book.

1 game and 1 book in English, both Metro 2033.
There's like 10 books in Russian though, but only 2 (Metro 2033 and Metro 2034) are by the original author and are canon.

It'd be nice to have 2034 in English.
I just finished 2033 like five minutes ago, it was awwwwweeeesssooooome.

Apparently 2034 really doesn't live up to the first one at all. I haven't read in depth but from the stuff I've been told, it really goes south in terms of story as it totally drops the dark ones plot line for lesser station politics.

Someone's putting together a rough translation of 2034.

Well if you read Metro 2034 then you know why dark ones dropped off the plot. I have read Metro 2034 myself and i own copy of the book too. But what i have seen it's pretty obvious Metro last light has quite different story to be told than in metro 2034 book. But i think it's good that we are seeing a fresh story that fits in a game rather than video game version of 2034.
Last light looks great and i can't wait to buy it. The only realistic looking post-apocalyptic games out there are Metro ones
Seems like the English Voices for the pilots that they used in E3 were just placeholders
[editline]18th July 2012[/editline]
I'm sure voices and sounds you hear in the game are mostly placeholders judging by how they changed the pilots voices from English to Russian
Maybe my great grandchildren's desktops will be able to max this out!
If we can max out games from 10 years ago at 250+ FPS I can't wait to run Metro 2033/LL maxed out at 250 FPS in several years.
I'm incredibly excited for this game for its story telling ability alone. What i'm eager to see though is more of the outside. It seems that in this sequel, they're focusing more on before the war and the stories that holds. They also seem to be factoring in Artyom's childhood with his memories of before the war and what little he probably understood.
That cockpit scene though, holy shit i am just dumbfounded by how amazingly well done the developers create scenes like that, even in the first metro. When i first saw the little portion of that cockpit scene in an earlier dev video, i had chills. But this time, seeing the actual full event, you actually feel transported into the cockpit and are sharing the same thoughts with the pilots. That pants shitting moment when the emp hit "holy Christ what was that? quick try to fix it, we're falling!" hearing all the screams in the back, everyone thinking "this is it we're going to die". You don't think that yet, there's still a chance, while you're trying to tell yourself that you see the clouds clear in front of you......then you see the fire, the missiles, the streams of smoke they're leaving behind, the explosions dotting the landscape below. That's it, that's the exact moment you realize "The world's dying, and we're along for the ride"
I simply can not wait for this game.
That plane scene fucking scared me, and that was just pre-alpha holy fuck
I can't take the plane sequence seriously anymore ever since I saw the original E3 version with English voices. :v:

It's a good scare though, it drives home the terror of the spontaneous end of times.

I like what they're going for with the characters in the scene
The captain is calm and is trying to fix the problems and also contact the air tower while the co-pilot is shitting his pants
I hope for more senging pieps.
They're bringing the bastard gun back?
Yes!
