Oh look, there's still shitty walking animations. Not buying this shit, just because of that. If the devs are too half assed to animate good walking animations like a large majority of mainstream video games do, then they don't deserve my money.
Your loss man.
wow.. now i have to choose from saints row 3, skyrim, or bf3
I'm getting all 3 + Dead Island
Amazing game filled with interactive worlds and populated by people of many races, functioning towns, quests, dungeons to explore, and stories to uncover. WHAT'S THIS? THE WALKING ANIMATION IS BAD? THIS GAME IS FUCKING RUIIIIINNNNNNNNEEEEEED!
basically yeah, it's a unfinished game in my opinion. I feel cheated when I buy a game that lacks the basic animations. It's bad dev practice, they need to get the basic animations down before they start addressing story. Something the dev team keeps making the same mistake. It's largely ignored because they have big open ended worlds/good stories, but I find it hard to get into a game that has some of the worst walking animations ever to grace my eye. Shit devs, good story writers =/= me giving them my money. Ill borrow it from a friend and play it. The reason animations make such a big deal in this game is because everyone parades it around as the end games of all games that it's going to be "SUPER AWESOME ZOMG" while it lacks and falls shorts in just the basics. All of the fallout games and oblivion games are rubbish and the experienced ruined mainly because of the bad animations. It's a major distraction from the game, a game that is so post to be "immersed" with the gamer.

You really have to be a whining bitch to say the whole game is ruined because of some supposedly off walking animations. Are you the type of person that doesn't date girls because "her elbows are too pointy"? It's not that big of a deal. Bethesda has never been the best at animations but everything in Skyrim is two steps above oblivion.

There's a reason why it's refereed to as "basic animation" I'll buy this shit when it's 19 dollars a year later or something. But for now, no thanks.

I agree that the previous games had sub-par animations but Skyrims animations look just fine.
wow stop acting like a child. would you rather have 10% less game content overall or a perfected walking animation? this game will very likely have mod support so people can fix that if they like
A game shouldn't be judged by it's "mod" support before it's even released. The same mistake was made with Black Ops and MW2 for the PC. I also love how you say I am acting like a child because I don't want to spend my money on a video game that lacks basic animations. I would also very much enjoy 10% less game content for good animations. Previous Bethesda games have been a major turn off for me, and other people because of the bad engine and bad animation. They fixed up the engine, but they hardly even touched the animations it seems. In the past 3 games, you could easily ignore it because animations were not that big of a deal in games. But it's 2011, most major games spend a large majority in the animation sector. Animations is a big selling point to a lot of people, and overall it makes the game more enjoyable when you your enemy's leg is not clipping into the world while his other leg is floating in the air, as his hand is flailing in the air with a sword. Yeah, i've been there, done that 3 times with Elder scrolls, FO3 and New vegas. It got boring fast, and wasn't that fun. The lack of good animating ruins the feel of combat in the game. Not going there again unless they start to clean up their act with programming the basics in their game.

Anyways, the animations looked absolutely fine in that video. You seem like a real big spazz looking at your posts.

And your statement about Black Ops and MW2 are invalid here because Bethesda have ALWAYS had modability and it is confirmed for this game. The animations are fine. They really are, maybe you need glasses but they are surely better than Oblivion's. Uh-oh, a Metrocop's foot clipped with a barrel in HL2, the entire game is a piece of shit no one buy it. Uh-oh, a Counter-Terrorist's gun in CSS clipped with a wall, entire game ruined no one ever get it utter bullshit. Does it matter? No. You are really just whining. But the animations and graphics were a BIG selling point for Hl2. It's an aspect that shouldn't be ignored. They have the ability to dumb a large amount of resources in making Also if the game engine has enough resources to spend on the graphics and water physics, then it has enough resources for decent animations. Also the part where the wolves attack, and where he kills the first human demonstrate the bad animations. The wolves just randomly rotate, and the first human you kill literally almost slides across the screen.

The graphics are fine, I never complained about the graphics, so to use that comparison is asinine. Games made in 2005 had better animations than this. The sources games for example. Oblivion was okay, the animations suck balls, but that was 6 years ago, it has an excuse. Skyrims engine has enough resources to have fucking water physics and dynamic smoke. Don't sit here and say they don't have the ability, time, and budge to animate the NPC's on par with a source engine games NPC animation.

I mentioned graphics because I have heard people doing the same thing as you. Having super high expectations.
A lot of BF3 footage, and playing the alpha spoiled me. If a game has enough resources for water physics, they damn well have enough resources to get walking right. I've given examples of when the animations were shit (first human runs across the screen to the right, he practically floats at one point) I find it hard and almost unacceptable that a game with this budget can ignore something so basic as working walking animations.

I just re-watched it. In the first battle, the wolf turns around to fight you, it doesn't slide like its on some axis. And the bandit was side stepping. I haven't heard much about water physics but I hope you aren't thinking about Dynamic Water.
It's like I'm really reading the comments section on a Youtube video!
It's like I'm really reading the comments section on a Youtube video!
lol uu g0t pwn3d?
Honestly i don't even see where scoutking is coming from; the animations are more than acceptable. If you think they're so bad that the games doesn't warrant a purchase then you're just being an asshole, a skeptical one at that.
Actually, as an animator myself, I think those walking animations were pretty damn nice, at least for the player character in third person. There's a significant amount of weight all around, and the animations scale with how fast he's going--not just by speeding up the same animation, but by transitioning between completely different animations for different walk speeds. Most games don't do this. Quite honestly, those walk animations are far and beyond what you see in most, if not all, other games out there JUST because of the scaling. And even if you're not counting that, the weight they put into the animations (especially around his biceps, he's muscly as hell and the animations reflect that) is pretty damn nice too. I'm tired of seeing really bulk people with no weight to their movement. I really don't think you know what you're talking about. Baseless opinions, although I won't damn you for having your own, it's still a bit over the top to not buy a phenomenal game because you personally don't like the (actually really damn nice) walking animations.
I'll give you a star for not getting butt hurt because I have an opinion over a video game. The spider fight sequence though is an example of animating that annoys me that I saw. The spider would rotate and turn/spin and change degrees massively with out and movement from his legs. Maybe I just put too much on animations, but I get mixed feelings from the game after i rewatch the gameplay a few times still because I notice people still walk the same/similar to their previous games.

Please stop complaining about the game and everyone can just drop it, its has gone on long enough.
I still haven't seen the vid because it keeps getting taken down.

I kindly asked you to stop, theres no point carrying this on.
I haven't seen a single thing that's in this video before,(of course It froze at 25 minutes or so), but I want Skyrim even more now.
Dammit, it's down, I WAS just about to continue the video again.
I dont see why the animations are such a big deal especially since they actually look nice. Even with Oblivion and Fallout 3 and NV's shitty animations i still was capable of having a fun 50 or so hours with it. If you're gonna complain about any aspect of the game, the water is what you should complain about. That waterfall was bad enough to shut up the crowd.
Dammit, it's down, I WAS just about to continue the video again.
The dailymotion is still up.
Oh look, there's still shitty walking animations. Not buying this shit, just because of that. I would probably put important things like gameplay and combat first. I actually had to reread what you've been saying to make sure you were absolutely serious about this
