exactly, they're being reactionary to CoD
BF3 while it took itself seriously it seemed to be trying to outdo cod in a lot of ways.
Bad company 2 was 2 years ago. The only reactionary marketing I've seen from BF was the whole "Above and beyond the call of duty" thing, which they're competitors and competitors do petty shit like that. Battlefield and Call of Duty are completely different games, with the only similarities being the era the games are based in. What did it try and outdo call of duty in?

ehm you can't tell me BF3 doesn't emulate cod's weapon behavior with regards to recoil.
That was a pretty bad trailer for a multiplayer game to be honest.
The audio is really horrible in that trailer.

heh
RPG vs Infantry. Right there in the trailer.
It's official guys, it's okay!
Looks too much like Fallout :v:
that looks horrible
more cqc rocket spam and grenades
I'll pass just like I passed on the 'season' pass thing
bf3 is shit, the only thing that looked good was their latest dlc, uh.. armored kill or w/e.
armoured kill was just 'javelin spam: the DLC'
People still play this shit?
Occasionally.. well okay, rarely.
Dota2 is just so much better than what the whole videogame industry has to offer.

Since when wasn't it okay? RPG is a badass weapon and should be used so.

not just javelin, but all the lock-on missiles in the world.
ehm you can't tell me BF3 doesn't emulate cod's weapon behavior with regards to recoil.
huh? When you fire a gun, it recoils, it's hard for that to change up at all.
I just want BF2143
I don't care about crossbows
I don't care about more CQC maps or new player skins
I want fucking 2143
Same here but tough shit, next Battlefield game is going to be yet another modern warfare title. EA is being generous to people who want to shoot foreigners to death with M16's. Battlefield 3, Battlefield Premium for another $50, Warfighter next week, Battlefield 4 next year.
I hope Black Ops 2 makes other developers want to shift back to future/near future settings, or even WW2, or something that isn't fucking modern day.

No one is going to do WW2 again because if they do it will be the exact same shit that WW2 games have been doing since they first started coming out, only way to do it fresh would be to do the fronts and battles that we haven't seen yet (which is a lot of material) but no one is going to do that because everyone jerks over Normandy and America 50 times over.
WW2 hasn't unfortunately gotten a proper game yet

I don't even feel like WW2 was overdone. Maybe just the Normandy/Western Front stuff? Sure, but overall I like shooters when they take place any time but modern day. I am just getting literally sick of seeing the same assets in every single FPS that comes out.
These games are starting to run together. Don't be surprised when BF4 looks just like Warfighter, which looks just like BF3, which looks just like BC2.

WWII stories were overdone, but as a whole WWII still has so much content. You've got massive Land and naval conflicts, loads of different theaters, and a variety in the stories to be told. The only reason WWII games got old is because people kept making the same shit over and over again.
I'd love for some major-market shooter to return to WWII particularly Frostbite engine stuff. Huge landscapes with some urban conflict spruced in between.
The simulator aspect of WWII is still being explored, and that's always nice.

Same could be said for modern conflict, a lot of theatres and shit could be explored but we're stuck with the whole FIGHTING TERRORISM AND RUSSIANS USA USA USA!!!
crossbow
LOL
IMO Armored Kill was the best expansion in bf3. This trailer reminds me a little too much of close quarters, they should have added more cool features and gadgets or something. Not just plain old small maps and a crossbow.
Hey! Your video game is like MY video game! FUCK YOU FAGGOT.

Talvisota, Talvisota 2: Return of the Finns (continuation war), and Russia vs Japan. And even theaters that have been explored before could be re-done, there really hasn't been a whole lot done with the Pacific theater. The only games that come to mind when I think about it are Medal of Honor: Pacific assault, CoD: WaW, and BF1942.
