I prefer female characters because they have prettier clothing generally. As far as I can tell I'm not trans but I really wish clothing wasn't gendered, I see all this frilly shit and I can't wear any of it and remain socially acceptable. Part of me wants to not give a shit but I can't go much further than this pink shirt I like.
I wish all games were like this though, it's always incredibly annoying when you play a game and turns out male characters get normal clothes/armour while female characters have clothes/armour where the amount of skin covered is inversely proportional to how good it is. I couldn't stand playing Neverwinter past about level 40 when my cool caster lady started receiving "robes" that were basically pasties tied together with a few leather straps.
female characters often have smaller hitboxes, which is an advantage
In Combat Arms, male characters had two heads One on the neck, the other between the legs :v:
Looks like I'll be the odd person out here in saying that I find it more immersive to play male characters. It's not a conscious choice, but I have noticed that the sex I play dictates the way I refer to my actions in games. When I play as a male character, I usually will say "I did this thing." When playing a female character, though, I usually say "My character did this." Particularly in circumstances where sex has relevance, such as romance. In my Maleshep playthrough of Mass Effect, for example, I romanced Ashley (on accident :v:). In my Femshep playthrough, my character romanced Liara (because who the fuck likes Kaiden?). It's a subtle difference, but it is one I am conscious of. I just can't be wholly immersed as a female character. It's not that I dislike playing female characters, or prefer playing male characters (I generally go 50/50 in that capacity; my entire Shadowrun Hong Kong playthrough was a female character). It's simply that I can't find myself wholly empathizing as a female character, because I am not female, nor do I have interest in being female. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the game, and I still get immersed in the world. I just have a noted detachment from my character - she is "my character", not "me".
In Combat Arms, male characters had two heads One on the neck, the other between the legs :v:
Ah the nut-shot. Also women could get nutshotted in that game too. The hitbox was just smaller.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the ridiculously revealing armors could be worn by male characters as well?
It is a thing in some games. [img_thumb]https://horobox.co.uk/u/Mo6eK.jpg[/img_thumb]
i only play a girl character in 3rd person games bc i'd rather not spend hours of my time staring at a guy's ass
you and I are gonna have a very stern talk about metal gear solid
It is a thing in some games. [img_thumb]https://horobox.co.uk/u/Mo6eK.jpg[/img_thumb]
Honestly FFXIV has some of best clothes I've seen ever in any game, it even has frills and thrills for dudes and even well. [t]https://i.imgur.com/c7amfzt.png[/t] I mean whatever floats your boat.
Honestly FFXIV has some of best clothes I've seen ever in any game, it even has frills and thrills for dudes and even well.
That was one of my favorite things when I was still playing, both genders had such a broad range of choices that you could pull off almost any kind of feeling regardless of gender or race excluding potatoes most of the time though.
Wouldn't it be hilarious if the ridiculously revealing armors could be worn by male characters as well?
Just want to point out that a ton of video games have ridiculous armour for men it's just that men and women have different bodies (duh) so youfocus more on the women. An example of ridiculous armour: Gears of War, Duke Nukem, Doom 1 and 2. Every time I play a game with a character creator I make my character a black guy.
Ah the nut-shot. Also women could get nutshotted in that game too. The hitbox was just smaller.
feminine DICK
Every time I play a game with a character creator I make my character a black guy.
So you play on the hardest difficulty?
Are they making vr porn yet?
Are they making vr porn yet?
yes, look up vrkanojo
I usually make female characters because they cuter than me and I wish to be cute too. :(
I flip a coin each time I create a character, so I keep myself varied. This extends to pen and paper characters too. I just like playing both, they're both appealing in their own right.
i feel like devs put more effort into female protagonists than the male counter parts (see mass effect)
I don't disagree with your point, but wasn't at least Andromeda a case study in the opposite? I seem to remember people brewing a big shitstorm because the male mc looked pretty decent and close to the model whereas the female one looked pretty bungled

A glitch actually would cause the female model to switch to a different version of the default that was a lot better and seemed to be an older version. Yeah basically they intentionally made the default female model uglier for some reason.

Yeah basically they intentionally made the default female model uglier for some reason.
Apparently, the idea was to make the main character look younger and less experienced by making them more childlike in appearance, i.e. bigger eyes, less pronounced jaw line, larger head in proportion to body. The character creator was even purposely limited to make it very difficult to make a character that doesn't fit this mold. They must have made the decision late into development and they obviously bungled it up. In addition, initially the range of skin color options was very limited before they updated the game with a patch that added more. Supposedly, this was because of the limitations of the scanned head that they used for some of the presets. This was likely due to them trying to add more presets of indiscriminate/varied ethnicity (i.e. mid-range/orange skin tones), but made it so it was impossible to give those presets extremely pale coloring due to the limitations of the base model- as it would make them look like they were wearing face paint or something.
I can't wait to see Ralph Pootawn again in VR
I don't know about VR, but I've heard that similar experiments with fictional vehicles with faces on them have had good success as a treatment for people with autism:
I showed my friend this while he was high and he fucking panicked. Reminds me of LA Noire but if Cole Phelps was a fucking trolley.
