I'm torn on whether I should be a girl or a guy character. I usually play as a girl in most games, but something tells me that certain armors will be more aesthetically pleasing on a guy.

Why not do both??? just have different characters for different play styles?
Like have the male all brute force and shit while the female is all sneaky sneaky, silenced pistols and shotguns.
Probably what i'm gonna do.
it looks better than i hoped, i would have been perfectly happy with fallout 3 + new environment + better gunplay
I actually thought the weapon animations looked pretty good, which is important seeing as that's in your face half the time. NPC animations still seem very.... eh.
Since the dialouge controls are controller, I'm gonna safely assume this is console leak.
Otherwise jesus christ I think the lips of these NPCs are already mutating!
You can edit the UI down to the RGB.
First thing to do when I get this; set the UI to hot pink.
I am so glad whoever recorded this had the decency to cycle through the Perks. I'm going to ignore most of the perks that are just +Rad Resistance or +Damage with Gun until I max out the ones that involve crafting or could potentially lead to more content.
I made a little list for reference.
Armorer, STR 3
Blacksmith, STR 4
Locksmith, PER 4
Demolition Expert, PER 5
Lady Killer, CHA 2
Local Leader, CHA 6 (I have no idea what it means by supply lines between settlements but I want to find out)
Gun Nut, INT 3
Hacker, INT 4
Scrapper, INT 5 (just in case crafting mats are a pain to find)
Science!, INT 6
that console sub 90 fov
looks meh. laser rifle sound is cool but the model is way too big
Not really interested in the graphics. 90% of the complaints (besides the dogmeat bs) stem from the graphics/animations. As long as the game isn't an eyesore to look at I don't care. I mostly care about the lore/story and the gameplay.
I hope luck isn't as fucking useless as it was in fallout 3 and new vegas. I always played with 1 luck and maxed out small weapons/bullet based weapons first. It makes you an unstoppable killing machine.
is anyone else just excited that a new fallout game is coming out and there will be tons of things to do in that world, even if some of it isn't that amazing and the graphics aren't that up to par?
bethesda is always somehow behind the curve on gaming tech but honestly that doesn't take away from my experiencing of their ridiculously awesome detailed worlds.
detailed yes but TES has been dumbed down every iteration and removed features as they went
The voice actor bugs the fuck out of me. Stop narrating everything for fucks sake
The voice actor bugs the fuck out of me. Stop narrating everything for fucks sake
It's not bad for me but I can imagine after a few hours of playtime it would start to get grating.
If there's not an option in a menu somewhere to turn off the little quips then I imagine a mod where it mutes that dialog will be one of the first ones made for the game.
was this confirmed somewhere?
There was a thread on /v/ a couple of days ago where an anon was posting fraps screenshots from the windows version and people were comparing them to the xbone version. The pc version seems to cast shadows properly and has better AA etc.
Seriously how does anyone think it looks EXACTLY like fallout 3 ? no offense but please open up your eyes!, There is NO way these two are identical in any way

probably people who have never actually played fallout 3
God that GUI seriously bothers me, it genuinely hurts to look at.

It definitely doesn't look like Fallout 3 (other than style, but that's to be expected), but there are things you can recognise - stuff floating just above the surface they're supposed to lie on, the ragdolls that apparently weigh close to zero grams etc. Just enough to make it all feel familiar.
I'll still play it, though.
Well at least it's not "greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen" anymore. I liked the FO3's color correction at first, but it got really tiring after some time.
That dog calmly walking toward the player while on fire. Such a familiar feeling. I'm home.

that's good to hear
although it's pretty bizarre that the console version of the game is missing a huge graphical feature that severely impacts the visuals (imo)
I don't see where the steep system requirements come from
I don't think we've seen any PC footage yet, so I don't know what you're basing that on
The gameplay this is showing, and the screenshots from the PC version we've seen. That's what I'm basing it on. There's no way you NEED a 290X to properly run visuals of that quality, nor will you need an I7 4790 to handle what's taking place in-game from the videos. They're overly exaggerated recommended specs is what I'm saying
The only thing that looked bad for me was dogmeats running animation. It was twitchy and bad.
I dunno if this is late or not, but:
Mysterious Stranger LCK 4
1 There is a 10% chance that the Mysterious Stranger will appear during V.A.T.S. combat wielding a silenced pistol
2 There is a 15% chance that the Mysterious Stranger will appear during V.A.T.S. combat wielding a hunting rifle
3 There is a 20% chance that the Mysterious Stranger will appear during V.A.T.S. combat wielding a tommy gun
4 There is a 30% chance that the Mysterious Stranger will accompany you for a short while after V.A.T.S. combat. The Stranger will engage in dialogue and can be given commands
I'm guessing the dialogue will be about The Lonesome Drifter, and why he decided to leave him.

easy, specs were figured out in an early, less optimized build.
minimum and recommended specs are always bullshit, if you've played any pc games you should be aware of this
Since nobody else has said it, I might as well.
It's Skryim with guns. The way the visuals and animations are set up reminds me so much of Skyrim's construction, like how Fallout 3 really echoed a lot of Oblivion.
I'm not saying that like it's a bad thing though. The Oblivion with guns formula was pretty fun, and I'm sure this formula will be too.
Sound design seems nice, I absolutely love that looting bodies doesn't take you to a stand alone menu, and despite some textures looking muddy, the lighting is much nicer than anything Bethesda has made before.
It still has "quality" Bethesda animations and lip syncing, but who here really thought it wouldn't? But hey, at least "Bethesda quality" has gotten a bit better over the years. At least it's not just Todd Howard's friend from high school doing all the animations anymore.

pretty sure that's just old speculation.
Lol all this bitching about the animations, etc.
- They announced the game mere months before release so people could get excited and not have to wait forever
- It's a Fallout game and no doubt will have a great story and tons of hours worth of content to play through (multiple play-throughs over multiple years for many of us Fallout fans, I'm sure)
-There actually are new things to the Bethesda formula, and I, myself, am excited as hell to get my hands on this game
Quit nit-picking. I hate seeing so many games get shot down because of a misplaced pixel or a drop from 60fps to 59fps like it's the end of the world. It's not a big deal.

Funnily enough, in large open world games, all the little details matter.
I'm not saying that Fallout 4 will be a bad game (I haven't even played it yet), I'm just saying that it helps to immerse you better in the world you're playing in if the people you interact with animate like actual humans do. Bethesda has never really accomplished this task well enough yet.
And besides that, what's wrong with pointing out legit criticisms based on what we've seen so far? Doing so only gives emphasis to Bethesda to improve on their next game, and that results in a better game. Being what is essentially a blind fanboy about games, expecting and saying everything will be awesome will only lead to disappointment in the end, and will prompt Bethesda to barely improve at all.
It's best to strike a middle ground and be cautiously optimistic. Expect that you'll have fun with the game, but the game will have some faults (minor and major) and most certainly won't be "THE BESTEST GAME EVER MY DICK IS HARD BETHESDA STROKE IT!!!"
And I say this as a massive fan of Bethesda's games. I absolutely loved Morrowind and Oblivion, Fallout 3 was good fun (though I'm not a fan of the story in retrospect), and Skyrim easily had Bethesda's best open world to date. I'm not going to give them a free ride on their mistakes because I'm a fan of them though. That's just foolish.
