Funnily enough, in large open world games, all the little details matter. I'm not saying that Fallout 4 will be a bad game (I haven't even played it yet), I'm just saying that it helps to immerse you better in the world you're playing in if the people you interact with animate like actual humans do. Bethesda has never really accomplished this task well enough yet. And besides that, what's wrong with pointing out legit criticisms based on what we've seen so far? Doing so only gives emphasis to Bethesda to improve on their next game, and that results in a better game. Being what is essentially a blind fanboy about games, expecting and saying everything will be awesome will only lead to disappointment in the end, and will prompt Bethesda to barely improve at all. It's best to strike a middle ground and be cautiously optimistic. Expect that you'll have fun with the game, but the game will have some faults (minor and major) and most certainly won't be "THE BESTEST GAME EVER MY DICK IS HARD BETHESDA STROKE IT!!!" And I say this as a massive fan of Bethesda's games. I absolutely loved Morrowind and Oblivion, Fallout 3 was good fun (though I'm not a fan of the story in retrospect), and Skyrim easily had Bethesda's best open world to date. I'm not going to give them a free ride on their mistakes because I'm a fan of them though. That's just foolish.
I'm not saying take it up the ass and don't point out any faults whatsoever, I'm just saying people need to chill the fuck out. The fact that it is an open world game means there will be lots of faults, but you can just as easily see all of the other stuff they got right. With my experience in Bethesda's open world games, I've noticed the good far outweighs the bad in the attention-to-detail aspect. I don't doubt the amount of work that's gone into their games, and yeah, there are faults... but picky kids saying something like...
holy fuck those animations look like trash like jesus did they even try
... is uncalled for and redundant. Of course they tried. It's not like they have all the time and resources in the world to chisel the game down to a fine-point and release it with a swarm of doves.
I think this looks incredible. Yeah it looks dated but Bethesda games have rarely exceeded the norm in terms of graphics, and most importantly firearm combat looks very satisfying in this game.
It just feels like there's plenty of space available to change what should be very minor fixes.
Your lack of game development knowledge is showing.
Your lack of game development knowledge is showing.
I don't see what the problem is, just tell them to develop it more. /s
looks like fallout 3 with only new assets
Because it is
- It's a Fallout game and no doubt will have a great story and tons of hours worth of content to play through (multiple play-throughs over multiple years for many of us Fallout fans, I'm sure)
the world will be fun but i wouldn't trust beth to write a good story
Good god, the lip sync is even worse than it was in Fallout 3. I loved everything else though.
- It's a Fallout game and no doubt will have a great story and tons of hours worth of content to play through (multiple play-throughs over multiple years for many of us Fallout fans, I'm sure)
It's a Beth fallout tho. Can't wait for a lackluster story and paid DLC to get free roam after the MQ
As far as you go into it expecting a fps with rpg elements i guess itll be okay
It's a Beth fallout tho. Can't wait for a lackluster story and paid DLC to get free roam after the MQ
Except for the fact that free roam after the main quest is in the base game. Also, you couldn't continue playing New Vegas after the final quest, either.
Except for the fact that free roam after the main quest is in the base game. Also, you couldn't continue playing New Vegas after the final quest, either.
Tbh at least in nv it had a point with the writing And didn't have a paid dlc to actually be in the game
It's a Beth fallout tho. Can't wait for a lackluster story and paid DLC to get free roam after the MQ
Why oh god why would they put super mutants in the game.
- It's a Fallout game and no doubt will have a great story and tons of hours worth of content to play through (multiple play-throughs over multiple years for many of us Fallout fans, I'm sure)
Emil Pagliarulo has a terrible grasp of the Fallout lore compared to the new vegas writing team.
Realistic expectations for Fallout 4: - Poor writing, wasted potential for a Fallout game. - The engine is buggy and blatantly Gamebryo in disguise. - It's still fun, addicting and easy to sink 100 hours into it.
It's kinda of a part of the Fallout charm though, isn't it?
I'm sure most of the fun that will come from Fallout 4 will be the side quests and individual character interactions that follow. I doubt the main quest line will be that fascinating.
Am I the only one who really liked Fallout 3's story despite all it faults and it being just a mix and mash of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2's story, done worse?
I loved it as far as I got, my saves were deleted not that long ago :/
i really hope they let obsidian back in, but i doubt they'd come back after what happened with nv
Am I the only one who really liked Fallout 3's story despite all it faults and it being just a mix and mash of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2's story, done worse?
of course you did
obsidian is busy caressing their tank game, some mmo, and pillars of eternity
They're also interested in making a World of Darkness game and I guess it's important to mention Chris Avellone left to work on Divinity: Original Sin II. But still, we can pray.
Holy crap that dog is so immersion breaking . In this (https://vid.me/Vw0n) video he just walks around on fire like its nothing in the middle of a gun fight. I'm probably end up knocking him out and never reviving him.
So you're one of "those" people. M-M-MUH IMMERSIONS. Do you have mods installed where you have to shit regularly or you'll rupture your colon? [editline]2nd November 2015[/editline]
There was a thread on /v/ a couple of days ago where an anon was posting fraps screenshots from the windows version and people were comparing them to the xbone version. The pc version seems to cast shadows properly and has better AA etc.
Where are they getting the game in the first place? Early press release version? TPB?
Since nobody else has said it, I might as well. It's Skryim with guns.
nobody else has said it because it's a fucking foregone conclusion i know you think you're rockin' the gaming world's foundations right now by saying that a bethesda fps on gamebryo plays like skyrim with guns, but everyone was literally already expecting this the way the visuals and animations are set up isn't trying to emulate skyrim, that's just how a game on the creation engine looks and feels
ok cmon there are those people but seeing a flaming dog acting nonchalantly is pretty immersion breaking also its likely the guys got their copies either from working at a game store and opening the crate early or guys working at the packing/shipping plants that deal with putting the gorillion copies of the games into trucks.
I feel like Bethesda have their own specific breed of immersion. It's sort of like a dream in that a lot of what's happening doesn't make any actual logical sense, but you're just able to accept and enjoy that a dog in the fallout universe would behave in such a manner.
It looks better than I thought it would, even but I'm still going to wait and see how annoying the player voice gets.
So you're one of "those" people. M-M-MUH IMMERSIONS. Do you have mods installed where you have to shit regularly or you'll rupture your colon?
yeah that's probably what he does good one buddy

Or an instant kill? Or a horribly burnt model of dogmeat, walking around with you and whimpering, eventually giving in to sepsis.
Two things that concern me: the weird washed-out look with crap blacks and I got a feeling that the map will be hella small hopefully both turn out to be untrue when I get my hands on the actual game
