In all honesty, there are people who take the show quite a few steps too far, like changing their name to that of one of the characters on the show, but I still watch the show because it's entertaining and I just like it. I don't try to base my opinion of something on the fandom formed around it. I do, however, involve myself in the community that's formed around it. Sadly, thanks to some of the people who overly obsess over it, it seems that that image of the fans develops in everyone's minds because they are the most outrageous and usually what everyone hears of first, thus making all of the fans look bad.
