But the sawblade only cuts zombies in half.
Not in real life it wouldn't.
Man, the gunship in the beginning was all fucken over the place, but other then that I really enjoyed it.
That was brilliant, but I have one nitpick: Isn't the gravity gun meant to be really heavy? Like, 'so heavy the Combine Elite gets hefted down a little when they have to carry it' heavy? When Alyx hands you it, she has to use her whole body's weight to pick it up. But as I've said, minor nitpick, cause that was fucking awesome.
Oh holy fuck that was awesome
This looks so much cooler if you've just done a playthrough of the HL2 campaign on SMOD Tactical

If I remember correctly, when Alyx first picked up the GG in Halfe Life 2, she had to lean back to pick it up because it was not active. I like to think when it is turned on, the core of the gun has the same zero-point energy field as the objects you pick up with it. Thus, the weight of the gun would be greatly reduced except for the handles.
In all probability I am guilty of wishful thinking.
Wow those physics were really well simulated, like when the combine fell off the bridge. It looked so satisfying when he hit the ground

I'm pretty sure she tells gordon he can only handle it because he has the HEV Suit.

Ah yes, that is right.
Oh well, it sounded like a working concept :downs:
I love these, but they never seem to get the combine right. They're always sorta off.
So far, Geek Week is shaping up to be much better than Comedy Week.
I love these, but they never seem to get the combine right. They're always sorta off.
probably because there never is any accurate combine costumes or costume pieces
Not in real life it wouldn't.
I thought the combine soldiers were protected with all that body armor and (and perhaps reinforced) muscle tissue? And, when a combine soldier is zombified their muscle tissue degrades, making their body split in half when a sawblade is thrown at with the grav gun.

Yeah, Combine use those Russian Gasmasks.

Are we seriously arguing the lethality of a sawblade launched at terminal velocity?
Not in real life it wouldn't.
But it's not real life, it's half life. That means it's only half as realistic.
Are we seriously arguing the lethality of a sawblade launched at terminal velocity?
Nah, I was just pointing that out.
That was brilliant, but I have one nitpick: Isn't the gravity gun meant to be really heavy?
Ironic. There should be a gravity gun to lift the gravity gun.
Half-Life fans are so passionate and still produce works like this in the absence of any games. If only Valve would actually do something and repay the dedication with a worthy sequel.
reminds me of that "escape from city 17"

Well a giant sawblade going at few hundred Mph can probably cut through a lot of things.
That was really great. I think the attention to little details such as the sawblade spinning off in the distance, the wonderfully executed death of the rebel and the close-up camera shots of the Xen crystal fiddling makes it stand out above a lot of other HL2-inspired movies.
Most importantly though it wasn't attempting to be dead-serious or full of darkness and/or melodrama, but stayed focused on either ominous tension or exciting action much like most sections of the games. The Half-Life series isn't realistic nor very grim or depressing, which is what made me feel like Escape from City 17 didn't capture the tone of HL2 very accurately.
Also that Eli actor is spot on. No clue if its a real guy though.
the one complaint i have. which is rather minor
was the rather silly way of that CP/Soldier going down that ramp.
for me, i found it rather unfitting.
This is basically the coolest thing I've seen in a HL2 machinima
if a HL2 movie had this quality and style, it would be just fantastic and work so well.

and yet gordon lugs it around like nothing
I always imagine that the crystal would of course make the front ultra lightweight
Gravity gun cannot lift dumpsters..

Personally I've always imagine the HEV suit has servo motors/muscles, enhancing whatever motion Gordon does. That's the only explanation I ever found for why sprinting drains suit power, anyhow. Either way it's a really silly thing to get upset about.

that and the only reason he can lug so many guns and you know
kill an entire army of aliens like a badass
[sp]also I imagine that he has a toilet in there because holy fuck he needs one[/sp]
