the best game for lan parties is Crysis
it's not match really, really fun with friends at lanps
Oh the memories.. when keyboards and screens could handle a few punches and hammering
Although it is a stress relieving event, it also induces heavy amount of rage.

Notice the lack of keyboard buttons.. :v:
I have a group of friends and we organize these LAN party/Movie watching hybrid nights, we call it "Zombie Night".
Shit's so much fun.
You can still LAN part, just with wifi now.
I remember when this gaming cafe opened up in a local mall. Me and my friends went there and it was packed. They had this new game called "Half Life 2 Death Match" I played half life 1 years prior but didn't make the connection nor knew about the sequel. About 20 people were in one single LAN sever. Mass fun was had. Later that day i bought hl2, which included something i never played before, counter strike.
Fast forward to today:
That gaming cafe is now closed and replaced with a snack shop, introduced me to computer games as i know it and transformed my life.
LAN parties man, LAN parties.
West Australia FTW
We still have massive LAN's, Redflag for example.
Hasn't really changed much haha! (Not saying its a bad thing though)
However, I do love having the occasional LAN Party with my friends, they're actually alot of fun!
The best LAN game is Crysis 1 TDM.
You and a buddy go freeze-ray squad.
You can feel the rage in the air.
I still want to go up to them and say "I was the guy with the freeze ray"
All my friends are console gamers.

Biggest LAN I've done was about 5 or 6 people. Pretty fun.
I have LAN parties with myself.
I run around empty maps shooting things.

16 man halo lan parties with 4 xboxes yo
can ya digit
man I hate hearing about how awesome they were. I wasn't old enough and had barley heard of computers
Massive LAN parties are not nearly as awesome as smaller ones. Especially when you know most of the people at the smaller ones.
I've got a few 16 port switches and an old UT99 server begging to host a LAN party
Man now I feel bad for jumping onto pc gaming late. Sure I play with friends on the internet but lan seems like something magical.
it's so much damn fun
just the other day my friend brought over his laptop to my place and we played borderlands coop. Hell of a lot more fun that internet play, for sure. The human interaction adds to the fun
then again, you'd actually need real life friends

Same, we just have to end up playing 4 player Super Smash Bros. Brawl which is still amazingly fun.
Q3A was my first FPS as far as I remember. Brings back some memories man.
All you guys keep saying it like the LAN times are over. I think not. A gaming cafe close to where I live has all-night LAN parties every friday night and I go to LAN parties all the time at different places.
I've got a local cybercafe with pretty much everything in it
I'm fairly sure they host overnight games once a month
The closest thing I had to a LAN party was playing Counter Strike 1.6 with friends in computer class.
That was earlier this year.
The teacher also joined in. :v:
That was my year 11 IT class. Me and my teacher used to wreck everyone else.
Biggest LAN I've done was about 5 or 6 people. Pretty fun.
Biggest LAN I've been at is Assembly Summer easily.
2500 people.
I usually go to the ETS montreal lan party everyyear
Its a lot of fun meeting with your teammates
I still do LAN partys. Sitting and chatting with friends on Skype while gaming just doesn't beat a room filled with nitrogen, electric pulses, intense heat and no air.

What stops you from going to LAN's now? I was at a LAN as late as two months ago. One weekend, 20 people - the best 15 get the only 15 beds in the house.
EDIT:
This made me pop up an old video compilation by me of a LAN I was at in 2010. And although it was that recent damn it's nostalgic.

Good stuff.
Vancouver was and still is shit for LAN parties.
IF you are lucky you get something loosely assembled for two days and consisting of 14 people but otherwise there's nothing on the scales of the other international LAN parties.
I still do this with my friends, like 2-3 times a year when we meet up. We play Q3A gauntlet matches, Alien vs Predator 2, Cs 1.6, Battlefield 1942 and Rune. Good times.
I don't see how you can play any game for hours with the same people and not get bored.
If you've ever stayed at a friend's house with some other guys over, you can play the same game for hours and not get bored.
I've played mortal kombat for somewhere around 24 hours with some friends and had so much more fun than when I play alone.
