With some performance tweaks and the new more stable and better running version, maybe I'll remake my Vastness of Space Engine video. An HD version that actually shows with ease the stars so you don't have to squint If you're curious In fact, I think I will
music?
For some reason this game gets me nervous as fuck and i've got no reason why. What's with the space ships in the trailer? Is there something i'm missing ingame?
Black holes are by far the scariest.
music?
Um, it's from Lost 'No Place Like Home' I believe
I start to feel uncomfortable playing this simulator as well, but that has as much to do with me dreading the next crash (even with this version) as it does the big vast nothing of space.
If you guys are starting to have existential crises over this, I'll go ahead and repost something I posted in Auxiliary pics a while back:
The Eridanus Supervoid is a plot of space which is 2.7 Kelvin cooler than the rest of the universe. The most commonly accepted theory as to why that is is that this is a supervoid. AKA, The Eridanus supervoid is an expanse dozens of orders of magnitude larger than our galaxy filled with absolutely nothing. We could send a continent-sized starship to one end and have it travel at five times the speed of light to the other side of the void. In that time, humans on board would not only die, life on board would probably cease to exist, then appear again and evolve back into complex life before the ship reached the other side 100,000,000 years later. All the while having not even passed a single atom outside. [editline]dsgjkh[/editline] Then there's this bullshit right here: [t]http://d1jqu7g1y74ds1.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/NGC1277_diagram.jpg[/t] For reference, VY Canis Majoris, the largest star yet discovered that people regard as the universe's greatest fuckhuge object, doesn't even make it to Neptune's orbit. In fact, this black hole is the size of some small nebulas and could swallow the entire solar system (Kuiper belt and all) like a person eating a jellybean.
