How?
Because you stop playing as your own character and start playing a predefined character, which is never what Fallout was about. Once you break that down, the game is almost definitely going to have to have a more linear structure.
The responses in the earlier games were generally as vague as possible for a reason.
I always laughed at how fucking stupid that 'leaked' kotaku thing was, but this trailer has a number of things about it that makes me fear it could almost be real now.
Voiced PC's means there will be less variety in dialogue solely because it would be more expensive to voice. In a big RPG, a silent protagonist with more choices is always better. It allows you to make a personality for your character through the choices you make in dialogue, even if those choices don't have a huge effect on the story or world.
Dragon Age: Origins for instance left you with tons of options. Like if some guy had a quest for you, you could say stuff along the lines "I'll do it", "I'll do it if you pay me", "Why should I do it?" "Tell me more about what I have to do", "What if I do X instead?", "No I won't do it". All it boils down to is if you do it or not, but there's a chance to personalize your character there. To determine how he or she handles dealing with people. Then in Dragon Age 2 and Inquisition, with the introduction of a voiced character, you get "I'll do it" or "I won't do it"
In-game voice doesn't mean that your dialogue will be voiced.
The engine situation is kinda a double edged sword.
In one hand, you have an engine that heavily modifyable, and assuming they haven't changed too much, easy to jump from modding the older games to this one.
But on the other hand it has the limitations (probably) of said engine.
Honestly as long as they fix the most pressing problems with it that I don't really care what engine they use. They've already nailed the visuals, now we need to see how the gameplay works out.
One of the most memorable musical themes in recent video games.
Really? Because the moment I read your post I realized I watched the trailer twice and I couldn't hum two consecutive notes of the theme from memory.

Geralt of Rivia disagrees with the generalization.
Geralt of Rivia disagrees with the generalization.
Geralt is an established character with an established personality, that's a different situation. It's okay to write him a certain way.
Writing a player-created character to speak and behave a certain way is another thing entirely.

wait just what if, like what if, you listening? What if you just now have a voice when picking dialog options? and you can still make your character and stuff?
wooaah
Yay, another game where I can play as Troy Baker!
Shit, Joel!

It begins.
Uh, guys
I'm 95% sure that the "lets go pal" at the end is literally just to emphasize the companionship trope being played there for effect
Graphics look nice but I'm more interested in the gameplay.
Really? Because the moment I read your post I realized I watched the trailer twice and I couldn't hum two consecutive notes of the theme from memory.
Really there's nothing amazing about the music. It fits but it's a generic "starts out calm and retro/classic and then turns into modern epic theme"
Woaw, I'm honestly a little bit shocked. Was expecting a teaser at most but this is beyond all my expectations. First thing that comes to mind is how colourful is it compared to 3 or NV.
The way the ghouls moved around and charged after the player is really, really cool.

No.
I don't picture my Fallout characters as sounding something as vile as Troy Baker.
My penis is sooo fucking hard
The ghoul shopping center part reminds me of RAGE.
Seems like the protagonist is the dog

Calm your tits Troy Baker sounds fine even if he's a bit overused.
The environments look really nice but also not really like Fallout
but then again, neither did the strip.

New Vegas looked more Fallout then Fallout 3
Nude mods ahoy
The environments look really nice but I have absolutely no hype for this. Bethesda makes some of the most boring and shallow RPGs on the market and I highly doubt this will be anything different. To me Fallout 3 was not fun or engaging, the writing was awful, the gameplay was awful, there is very little to actually do and Bethesda didn't capture the tone or the humour from the old games.
Hopefully we'll get a "New Vegas 2" from Obsidian somewhere down the line.

you don't pay troy baker however much money he costs just for one line at the end of a trailer.
i'm interested in this game, but not hyped. after skyrim i'm going to be extremely wary on any other games they make. the trailer looks good but we haven't seen
-if/how they fuck up the writing
-the amount of bugs there will no doubt be
-the oversimplification of RPG mechanics

yes please give me a game by the people who know what they're doing
Nude mods ahoy
Can we just stop with the stale nude mod jokes?
We get it, people make dong and boob mods for Bethesda games.

I know I'm judging only from a trailer, but they seem to be taking a page out of Obsidian's book and are making the world more varied and colorful.
But who knows, could end up being shit.

If they were taking a page from Obsidian we'd see Obsidian writing the characters and stories while Bethesda makes the game.
some of the lod textures were really muddy

Wrong page I guess :v:
Maybe. Honestly i like that they aren't trying to push the graphics to the absolute limit.
Because they can't do it. They couldn't bother to chose a not 10 year old "in house modified" engine, couldn't be bothered to fix the animations, to update the grapics, and it looks like the BoS are going to be "the good guys" again.
Basically it's FO3 all over again.
It's gonna be shit and you know it.
