Where'd you get that from?

One of the things they showed here at E3 was a driving challenge that has one player at a time standing in front of their TV, arms held out, steering a car down a highway. Acceleration and braking are automatic. You just rock your hands to steer, as if you were holding a steering wheel. The goal in this challenge mode is to pass as many cars on the road as possible before a timer expires. Once you're out of time, you get a score and can start it again.
Sounds like a very specialised mode, I'm sure a normal race mode will have speed controls.
I don't think so.
How are you suppose to accelerate or brake when you got no buttons?
[editline]06:41PM[/editline]
The acceleration and braking in JoyRide is automatic as well, and if you can accelerate or brake manually in Forza they would have showed that instead.
Lack of imagination.
Last year the idea of controlling speed with your right leg was floating around a lot. Makes sense.
I could just imagine someone in the audience yelling out "XBOX... TURN OFF!"
I thought it recognized your tone of voice to seperate somebody randomly shouting that from you genuinely giving the command.

So it won't work if I am angry?
Dunno. Never know with voice recognition. On the bright side Microsoft seems to have the best one around.

I predict this:

Edit: No, I didn't make this.

You mean the way people have been playing video games for decades?
Video lost all credibility at the end. Yeah, the eyetoy fucking sucks. That's no surprise. Sony's and Nintendo's suck just as much dick.
Just shows that Microsoft doesn't even realize who their main audience is. Using things like Justin Bieber and "BFF"? Come on, game conferences should not be targeted towards 14 year old girls worried about being fat.
My Bff Oscar :D
The video is a parody of this:

Oh god. I haven't laughed so hard in a looong time.

I'd rather fiddle my thumbs on a piece of plastic than wave my arms around like a tool.
"Like Wii can."
microsoft fails so much lol...
p.s. im not a sony fanboy
Wow, that xbox is retarded.
It though justin bieber songs were music.

Not in 2006 it didn't.

This is why I'm going to leave facepunch.

Yet, you bandwagon against the 360.
Man would I feel gypped if I had an Xbox. Good thing I got a PS3 instead, so I'll have hyper-accurate motion controls in games like Socom 4

Sony won E3.

Actually no, it shows they understand you perfectly well. And you are proving them more right for every word you say.
You can have fun with Call of Duty 14 sometime next year, I'll be playing in the future. And it seems the future is casual.
Because you are a luddite.

Call of Duty, though I despise the wealth-driven franchise they have become, still makes games that appeal to their audience and when all thing are considered they are not that bad.
I think Kinect could be pretty cool, but come on they need to wise up to their main consumer group. If they took a survey of the people attending their conference they would find most of them are young adult males who WOULD rather see a trailer for Call of Duty 7. This demographic does not listen to Justin Bieber and does not call each other BFF. They also don't appreciate watching white nerds learn to dance.
I'd like to see an online multiplayer first-person shooter that uses Kinect.

Yeah I was wondering why the fuck they would show that at E3.

Damn, you really are a fanboi.
What future? This kinect thing doesn't appear to be any better than the Wii motion controller, and everyone knows how quickly people got bored of that. The ps3's motion controller seems the most refined, but still, I can't imagine people wanting to play games that require them to flap their arms around like a tool. This whole motion control thing is huge gimmick, which is only being followed through because the money it made for nintendo. I'm highly skeptical people will fall for the same trick, then again this is millions of 13 year olds we're talking about.
It's funny that you think doing things in games with your body is the stupid looking thing. After seeing how people literally jumped right into their games with Natal in the MS conference, it looked utterly strange and appalling to me that the EA demoers had to bend over to pick up a flimsy piece of plastic from the ground before they could play.
That Back to the Future quote springs to mind: "You have to use your hands? That's like a babys toy."

Motion control is fun in the same way that people find karaoke fun, basically they aren't so insecure to the point that they wouldn't be caught dead "flapping their arms," they just wanna have fun.
They are trying to make games you FEEL. Well, instead of making something new and saying that waving about will make you become more involved in the game, try actually putting some time into the game.
Bioshock is a good example. That game was all encompassing while I played it and thank goodness I didn't have to wave my arms about. That would have distracted me too much from the story line and visual splendor.
The way I see it, all Kinect will achieve is to drive the average rating of XBOX games down as the market is flooded with mini-games collections.
If you want to wave your arms about or get in shape take up sports like a normal person.
To be honest if you are playing a motion control game sitting or simply not getting into it then you look pretty stupid. I can't play the Wii sitting, it makes me feel like a fat lazy bastard.
[editline]08:22AM[/editline]
To Smeetin, with my aforementioned experience with playing the Wii standing, I can say I felt significantly more involved rather than the other way around. Just the act of standing up made it feel more exiting, much like the difference between listing to music sitting around like a potato or getting up and doing something about it. And the more you move your body the more involving the experience becomes. Thinking about Heavy Rain, by far some of the most involving moments were the ones that required me to shake the whole controller or flip it to the side.
Kinect involves the whole body, and so becomes the most involving.
