Damn, you really are a fanboi. What future? This kinect thing doesn't appear to be any better than the Wii motion controller, and everyone knows how quickly people got bored of that. The ps3's motion controller seems the most refined, but still, I can't imagine people wanting to play games that require them to flap their arms around like a tool. This whole motion control thing is huge gimmick, which is only being followed through because the money it made for nintendo. I'm highly skeptical people will fall for the same trick, then again this is millions of 13 year olds we're talking about.
I'm sorry that you're too lazy to get up, and fear the loss of dorito crumbs that have gathered on the top of your oversized gut. But the rest of the world seems to think that moving around and engaging yourself in a game is more fun than sitting there wiggling a joystick about. I think this is a lot more interesting than Wii, simply because there is no controller, no component attached to you, and it can mimic every move you make. This could make t-baging popular all over again. I'd absolutely love a good shooter using this engine. You gould make all sorts of gestures to your teammates, including the retards that would stand there making jerking off gestures.
Not to mention suddenly that old "Jump In" ad becomes more relevant than ever if you were to make a shooter for it. :v: Heck, even the slogan becomes relevant again as you can just jump into the game instead of fiddling with a controller.
I think that motion controllers are bringing a crowd into gaming that doesn't belong. Let's say you have the good singers of the world who appreciate good music. You have the people who listen to this and appreciate the intricate lyrics and nice melodies. Now introduce auto-tune. Commence the dark-age of music. Motion control is the auto-tune of video games. It's like asking someone if they like Italian food and having them say, "Ya, I like pizza."
I think the only ones who doesn't belong in such a technology driven environment as gaming are the ones who can't adapt when something new is brought on board. And if anything, controllers are the autotune that games have to create simplified abstractions around to function at all. Even the Move and Wiimote suffers largely from that. Kinect really opens it up, just look at the dancing game. It stops being pushing buttons at the right time or doing the right gestures with the Wiimove, and it starts being something more real and tangible. It starts being real dancing. Kinect removes abstractions and barriers.
New isn't always better.
But it's always there, and the past can only sustain you for so long.
Also, this reminds me of:
I still look forward to Kinect to be honest, despite the pretty embarrassing conference (Justin Bieber? Ugh...). They'll probably do more than the shit they're doing now. (Like, shooters and action games maybe, that would win my vote) If they don't however, then Kinect will be pointless. Even if I am fat too, I don't feel an issue with having to GET UP to play at all.
That was very awkward.
Can we take our kinectimals out back and put them down?
I hope there's a velociraptor in kinectimals. Otherwise I don't really see the point.
I need a GIF of that nerd dancing... [editline]03:05AM[/editline]
I hope there's a velociraptor in kinectimals. Fucking hell if you want an immersive dance experience, GO CLUBBING FOR FUCK'S SAKE.
Clubs don't have tutorials and they don't make my gamerscore grow.
I would like to use it, gimmick or not.
I would like to use it, gimmick or not.
Yeah, same: I would never buy one though.
Like the Wii, it's fun for playing a round of bowling over at your neighbours. And that's about it. For the casual games, of course.
Is this supposed to be a Youtube Poop is it just really horrible clipping? Anyway, I've never liked casual gaming shit like the Wii and now Kinect.
They are trying to make games you FEEL.
Mass Effect 2 made me feel emotions, dunno why.
Microsoft did horribly at E3. PS3, I didn't hear much about them. But Nintendo was all 3DS hype. Case in point, E3 kinda sucked, but Nintendo did the best out of the 3 major companies.

It functions with a camera like Kinect, so you have the option to function either like a Wiimote or the Kinect. Best of both worlds.
I'm kinda guiltily looking forward to this, especially the dance game, I doubt I'd actually buy it, but I'd love to play it.
BmB, id like to convey something to you. Lets take a great hit like Dead Space, for people like me I like to immerse myself straight into the story and game-play, I enjoy feeling as if I am in that desolate heap of junk floating in space with about 1,000 murderous mutated freaks popping from vents. Lets put Kinect into the equation, and what do you get? Dead Space on Kinect is now a game where you can do maybe 4 things, all the while you are jumping about, shouting at your TV, and waving your arms, the game almost immediately looses its immersion and becomes what many here despise, a casual game. Your point is 'Id enjoy getting up and actually doing something, imagine how immersive it would be, think of the future!' I don't know what games you've been playing, but immersion is not achieved by doing what the character in the game is doing, its called having imagination paired with a developers hard work to help your imagination into the game itself, if you think you need to stomp on things when Issac does, then you must also feel the urge to stand up and shout at your friend while casting fire bolts when you read Harry Potter. Another one of your points, getting up and doing something is not exactly a best option for fun at all times, what if I just got done with physically demanding work, and want a fun break, do you think it would be enjoyable to jump like a dyslexic retard while trying to have fun? No it wouldn't, no matter how much you throw around 'ur juz fat lole' a large percentage of Americas population is overweight or obese, and Kinect will not be the automatic cure, you either cater to specific wants and needs or die out, forcing your community onto a path they don't enjoy while they are the reason you get your paycheck is not a very smart idea. Which brings me to the next point, Kinect would shift the games out of the 'relaxation department' and just make them either exercise tools or games you play once or twice with a neighbor, and that would drive sales into a even deeper grave then it dug itself. Your final point, when you introduce something that is 'revolutionary', then you should follow up with something revolutionary, not throw almost exactly the same content we saw last year with the Wii, if something doesn't seem to have any potential to deliver, even when you have a team of paid actors to endorse it, it probably wont have much of a future anyways. Before you bring up an example, like say 'yeah will electricity was the same way! No-one trusted it until later on!' electricity was extremely useful for every department of everything ever, Kinect is not useful for much of anything other than exercise, maybe. In the end, Kinect will not replace anything, it will play out like the Wii and be a popular 'on the side' type of fun then fade out of the minds of gamers who are occupied with their recent eye pleasing and time consuming medal of honor, which is getting massive sales and the traditional console layouts are endorsed and continued.
that was the most awkward thing ever. yet i was laughing the whole time. why?? what is wrong with me?

The dancing game looks like a lot of fun. One of my friends owns Just Dance for the Wii and it was really fun and funny watching people play it. Wasn't really embarrassing in any of the sense. Now on the other hand, I doubt the running/sprinting game will be all that great. The white water raft game looks ok, might be a good fall back game once you get tired of Halo, MW2 and if you have friends over. That Star Wars game reminds me of the arcade shooters where your guy just stands there the entire time while the bad guys come out of hiding. Dont really see this game lasting long. (Unless there is a shit ton of free DLC, otherwise I ain't spending money on it) As for voice/facial recognition and the whole "waving" to sign on(Not to mention I watch Netflix on my Xbox a lot so the ability to pause without a controller) blew my mind a little bit :D One big plus side to Kinect for me. In terms of Microsoft's acting cut them some slack. I'm sure you guys can do much better right? The ESPN guys did their part well, I liked their little bit.
God... I hated Microsoft this year. This was probably one of the worst press conferences ever. It's all about Sony now. :D
I knew it. I'm so glad I missed Microsoft's conference (on purpose).
Konami had the best conference. Conference of the year, all years.
