This is why I'm more leaning towards Move, I can still sit on my ass, yet still have a more in depth experience.
Seriously though, I would love if a new company made a console that was just pure hard core balls to the wall games. No Kinnectimals, or kiddy games, just had a controller, easy to program power. A true gamer's console.
In short I think Sony is more on the Gamer's side, Microsoft has gone to the casuals. God I miss the past two gaming generations.
lol
A huge nightmare for fat gamers
I watched that shit live at gamespot and when this animal stuff came up... i mean cmon thats just embarrassing.
BmB, id like to convey something to you.
Lets take a great hit like Dead Space, for people like me I like to immerse myself straight into the story and game-play, I enjoy feeling as if I am in that desolate heap of junk floating in space with about 1,000 murderous mutated freaks popping from vents.
Lets put Kinect into the equation, and what do you get?
Dead Space on Kinect is now a game where you can do maybe 4 things, all the while you are jumping about, shouting at your TV, and waving your arms, the game almost immediately looses its immersion and becomes what many here despise, a casual game.
Your point is 'Id enjoy getting up and actually doing something, imagine how immersive it would be, think of the future!'
I don't know what games you've been playing, but immersion is not achieved by doing what the character in the game is doing, its called having imagination paired with a developers hard work to help your imagination into the game itself, if you think you need to stomp on things when Issac does, then you must also feel the urge to stand up and shout at your friend while casting fire bolts when you read Harry Potter.
Another one of your points, getting up and doing something is not exactly a best option for fun at all times, what if I just got done with physically demanding work, and want a fun break, do you think it would be enjoyable to jump like a dyslexic retard while trying to have fun?
No it wouldn't, no matter how much you throw around 'ur juz fat lole' a large percentage of Americas population is overweight or obese, and Kinect will not be the automatic cure, you either cater to specific wants and needs or die out, forcing your community onto a path they don't enjoy while they are the reason you get your paycheck is not a very smart idea.
Which brings me to the next point, Kinect would shift the games out of the 'relaxation department' and just make them either exercise tools or games you play once or twice with a neighbor, and that would drive sales into a even deeper grave then it dug itself.
Your final point, when you introduce something that is 'revolutionary', then you should follow up with something revolutionary, not throw almost exactly the same content we saw last year with the Wii, if something doesn't seem to have any potential to deliver, even when you have a team of paid actors to endorse it, it probably wont have much of a future anyways.
Before you bring up an example, like say 'yeah will electricity was the same way! No-one trusted it until later on!'
electricity was extremely useful for every department of everything ever, Kinect is not useful for much of anything other than exercise, maybe.
In the end, Kinect will not replace anything, it will play out like the Wii and be a popular 'on the side' type of fun then fade out of the minds of gamers who are occupied with their recent eye pleasing and time consuming medal of honor, which is getting massive sales and the traditional console layouts are endorsed and continued.
I totally agree.
Microsoft, what the hell happened? You became everything you've ever hated. :frown:
Vuvuzela at 1:40.
If they are trying to be witty by claiming that Microsoft is lying, they aren't. It is a "new experience" assuming you DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEIR COMPETITORS.
Not to mention the eye toy is pretty similar and will probably function better because it DOES have wireless controllers instead of a camera.

At least Sony and Microsoft are trying to best Nintendo in the 'Virtual Reality'/Casual Gamer leagues.
