You guys are crazy for skipping episodes in season 2, assuming you're talking about the first time you watched the series.
The two things I want to see in this new season are lynch playing a character, and more backwards talking.
I wouldn't doubt that he would play as agent Gordon Cole again if his character was needed.

It does struggle to find a new plotline to grasp onto, but seriously season 2 is still pretty damn good. I love the character of Windom Earle and his surrounding plot almost as much as Laura Palmer. (With the exception of [sp]the silly Nadine cheerleader sequences, although that is somewhat funny, just dragged out a bit too long.[/sp])
The highschooler drama seemed really half assed. Bobby and his friend just stopped giving a shit about getting revenge on James and forgot about him
That's probably a good thing. Everything else was a lot more interesting than that
It's okay to skip James' subplot in season 2 because it goes fucking nowhere and is boring.

I think that was more a result of Bobby going through character evolution and gradually trying to be a better person instead of the bratty dim-witted jock who constantly got in over his head on boneheaded schemes.
Hence this scene:
