The game looks like it deserves it though. It has JUST STARTED and he's already Sonic 06ed his way through a wall and onto the top of a loop.
Yeah, I love Sonic Adventure but I can agree that it HAS NOT fucking aged well at all.
I mean it's a Dreamcast game DIRECTLY ported to the Gamecube, with obviously no thought as to making any fixes from the original.

Yeah, I was kinda sad to see this game get ragged on, but I quickly saw why.
I can still love a game and enjoy Arin and Dan ripping it apart for yucks :v:.
Especially if they play the Big the Cat levels :v:

I agree, the game is mediocre at best and downright horrible at worst. Still, I think Arin will play up the shittiness for jokes and make it seem just as bad as Sonic 06 or Boom, which it really isn't. No matter what happens, avoid the comments.

Wait, comments? What are these "comments" you're talking about?

That's part of doing a show though. Take Game Grumps and remove the humor, keep just the regular talking, and imagine how it would be.

remove the games too and you got toon grumps

Game Grumps minus the humor and personalities is a boring walkthrough by a shitty player.
The whole point of Game Grumps is humor and amusing conversations.
They don't play your game 110% perfect the way you totally would? Just go watch a fucking let's play or walkthrough then :v:. Don't complain about that for a show where it really shouldn't matter if Arin is a god of gaming or your grandmother using a computer.

From what I saw of the Boom playthrough, the game actually functions. The only time you really see that game breaking is when you exploit the jump glitch or do a frame-by-frame analysis of cutscenes.

There was a couple of times where the game simply didnt load at all except a couple of models.
There was a couple of times where the game simply didnt load at all except a couple of models.
Didn't that only happen because they used the jump glitch to skip certain bits which meant they bypassed the trigger to load the next part of the level?
Didn't that only happen because they used the jump glitch to skip certain bits which meant they bypassed the trigger to load the next part of the level?
I think they tried going the right way but it didnt load so they used the jump glitch to that part of the level but nothing happened so they had to reload or something.
Sonic Adventure DX is just as glitchy as Sonic 06. It's a more coherent and fun game but in terms of technical incompetence it's equally terrible.
I've never bought the argument that Sonic games are "hit or miss" when it's actually 90% misses.
90% of learning to play a Sonic game is trying to figure out the awful control schemes and overcome the glitches.
Once you figure it out though you can have some pretty impressive lines through levels and it does get to be pretty fun seeing if you can beat your times, although frustrating when a stupid glitch costs you a good run. All in all deriving fun from a Sonic game is usually harder than most other kinds of games so I can totally see why someone wouldn't appreciate that.

How many Sonic games have that bad of control schemes?

I'd argue it's worse, honestly. I felt a bit "safer" playing '06 that the game wouldn't fuck me over as easily, but I almost half expect Adventure to throw me off.
I can only go back and play it for nostalgia factor, and that's it. It's still a shit game.
I remember playing DX when I was a wee lad, yet never having any sort of glitchiness. Arin plays for ten minutes and manages to glitch four times.
I think Sonic glitches and Grumps just go hand in hand. Sonic o-Sux had the loop-de-loop shenanigans, shooting off to the middle of fucking nowhere in Radical Train, Knuckles launching off the ground like a rocket, physics that would make Planck and Einstein shed tears, and probably at least a hundred more glitches and such bullshittery in that incomplete playthrough. Boom had some D+ Ai, Knuckles' airborne chiropractics, improperly loading maps, etc.
I'm sensing a pattern with Knuckles here...
Even Generations wasnt safe from knuckles glitches

Woah I think I heard Arin "Ech"
I've played Sonic Adventure DX recently, and to the people saying it's only mediocre, I suggest going back and playing it again. Even by the standards of when it first came out, it was a broken mess. By broken, I'm not only talking about the bugs, but the design as well.
Very few levels cater to the designs of any of the characters, and none of the characters feel like their abilities were very well thought out. Funny enough, only the knuckles stages feel like they had any thought put into them. That doesn't mean that they still aren't awful to play through, but the large open levels provide fewer opportunities for you to fuck up the physics of the engine or completely break the scripted sequences.
I could go into why this game has awful design all day, but I know it won't really do anything. Regardless, I'm looking forward to this series. The adventure style Sonic games are always a comedy goldmine.

IMO Knuckles stages were my least favorite
Well, save for Big's.

actually you're right, i'm going back on my opinion (just played it as well, same version.) this is a terrible sonic game.
Holy shit. Sonic Adventure is hilariously broken. It's actually seriously near Sonic Boom levels.
Honestly, I just got through playing sonic adventure in it's entirety, and I do agree, it's pretty bad if you compare it to modern games. The problem is though, is that it was a dreamcast game made in 1998. So yes, it's bad, but that's probably because a lot of things back then were bad due to memory limitations and technological limitations. The grumps are going to have a hard time with it because a lot of progression relies upon paying attention to cutscenes and such, and by their track record, the grumps have zero attention span for cutscenes.
Cheesy bad cutscenes and poor voice acting aside, E-102 and the soundtracks for this are the best parts. I'll bet money they'll have to use a walkthrough to beat this though.
Oh Jon and your detachable home cleaning kit. I know Jon prefers scripted content, but I really do enjoy [sp]/ miss[/sp] his off-the-cuff quips.

"Who mixed this?" - Danny
The joke writes itself.
Ive wondered if anyone has told him his mixing sucks and his music is cluttered nonsense.

I've always disliked Danny's mixing, but they seem to have fixed things with the Attitude City Album. Though, I'm not sure if it was Danny that mixed that, I seem to remember in one video talking about a producer. There's only one song on it that Danny's vocals are completely lost in the music.

Yeah i dont mean Danny directly but somebody has to know about it to hopefully fix it one day.
Their mixer is also named Dan so it all works out
Dammit Dan.
