Haha I forgot that Sonic Adventure was bad.
Like nostalgia has painted it as a great game. And I had a lot of fun on it as a kid but I remember getting well frustrated with it and the glitches. But the shit that Arin is dealing with was commonplace. We just accepted it as kids.
We just totally didn't even care the game was broken. Can you imagine a modern game starting with an NPC apologizing for it being broken? Amazing.

Im pretty sure that npc was just talking about changing views like when the whale destroys the pier and you gotta move toward the camera

Another NPC also tells you not to have high expectations, because you'll only be that much more disappointed.

In this episode, Dan and Arin nearly puke.
i feel like this is the worst game to lets play because you need to pay attention or else you'll get lost and the commentary is just "whoa whoa what whoa." i got this shit when i was a kid and i still get it, because I was paying attention.
Sonic Adventure DX is garbage for sure, but the effect is doubled because Arin is also bad at 3D games, especially on the show.
Ohhh boy the comments are getting worse by the minute.
To be honest I played SA1 in like 2011 having only grown up on SA2 and I still liked SA1 quite a lot.
It's absurdly janky and buggy but at its core it's a fun game, mostly. SA2 is a lot better because it fixed most of the jank. If you focus on it being broken instead of accepting it for what it is you're going to have a bad time.
If you do anything other than play exactly how the devs thought you would, you'll also have a bad time.
Fun fact about Sonic Adventure DX: the camera was programmed by someone who was seated on a paint mixer.

I never imagined Game Grumps would summon mental images of straightened pubes.
Ohhh boy the comments are getting worse by the minute.
It spilled over to Reddit too, that's why I'm here. Everyone's entitled to their opinions but jesus it just gets to be nauseating seeing all the vitriol. It's like holy fuck are your ten minutes that important?
It really makes me glad that the Grumps don't pay attention to any of this shit. So many of these complaints are just completely antithetical to what makes Game Grumps what it is. It's so unique in a sea of dime-a-dozen Let's Play channels I don't know why people would want to change that, especially in a direction that would make the show stand out less.
people really like sonic adventure 1 for some reason and just can't bring themselves to acknowledge that the game is actually fucking terrible
the funniest part of the backlash is that the sonic fans think Arin is pushing some kind of "agenda" to slander all sonic games or some shit? like its a big conspiracy?
sonic adventure 1 is just such a piece of shit. the game itself has an NPC telling the player to not worry about it if something goes awry. it's nuts how vehemently people defend the game just because they played it as a kid.
I'm not gonna lie I was just as stumped for what to do next during this ep as Arin
Good thing I can both acknowledge that a Sonic Adventure is terrible, but also can be fun and have good memories at the same time.
I'm not gonna lie I was just as stumped for what to do next during this ep as Arin
Yeah I was really confused too until people pointed out the manhole that was on screen for a cumulative total of two seconds and acted like there was no way he could have missed it. How were you supposed to know you were looking for it? "OH BECAUSE IT SAID TO GO IN THE SEWER." Yeah well, there's a giant fucking sewer next to the area where you get the hint and that's not the one the hint's talking about. Tell me that's good game design.
But no it's Arin's fault for being inept.
There is defending the game and while the show is called "Game Grumps" there is getting fed up with Arin's shitty nature to over excessively shit on things he especially doesn't like already.
I've played the game way back as a child and a bit more recently a few months back for streaming childhood game purposes. While I liked it for it's time the game definitely has terrible and outright garbage flaws in a lot of places like the fucking camera, Big the Cat story (Absolutely dread this "needs" to be done), mechanics falling to work like the homing attack, etc. Which was already bad at the time the game was released, but then Arin dives deep into nitpicking the game like it just came out yesterday when it only came out 2 years after Mario 64 and remember how he dealt with that?
We can all genuinely laugh at how hilariously bad the "lip sync" looks these days, as well as characters spazzing the fuck out, bad voice acting, outdated graphics and such. While Arin takes it to extreme levels. "My god this background looks like it was made in MSpaint." - "What the fuck just happened?" To a brief transition loading transition. - At some point he runs right off a giant runway "Thanks for the warning" followed by extreme mocking of the simple "no!" death clip. Just a few things from the latest episode alone so you know what I'm talking about. In the previous episode that Wind Bridge shit alone got me annoyed, notes it off to Dan as having to "fangle" it or something to get through the section when all you had to do is hold the stick in any direction and not jump.
I want to enjoy the Episodes and I can at points, but Arin just makes it real hard for me sometimes. The game has plenty of flaws to take the piss out of but he just has to go the extra mile.
Goddamn why do people have to nitpick somebody's nitpicking? If it bothers you that much stop watching. To the rest of us it's entertaining because most of the time we're thinking the same thing.
New Animated! I love Brandon's style.

This was probably one of my favorite rants from Arin in quite a while, because it hits home too hard.
i feel arin's hatred for subway
I've actually never had a problem with Subway.
I've actually never had a problem with Subway.
i mostly have problems when the people there are inexperienced. that and the fact that human psychology makes anyone going to subway impatient because they have to watch the workers painfully put together your sandwich. also, it's very obvious that nobody who works there wants to be there usually :v: if it's the manager or whoever, usually its a less painful experience.
[sp]i still go there though cause the cookies, you can't beat subway cookies[/sp]

Fifty minutes of Pokemon
Dat Lagombichu.
I would genuinely just watch a series of hour long episodes with just Ross or Arin drawing with conversation over the top.
