He's probably putting it on but coming from a long-time Zelda fan, Skyward Sword was bad.

I'm also a long-time Zelda fan, and I thought Skyward Sword was good. I don't understand the Fi criticisms because fuck loads of games break the fourth wall when it comes to technical explanation.
This is hands down the best video out there about Skyward Sword. Arin has talked about Matthewmatosis before, so I think it's safe to assume that he agrees with most of his points.

Here are my biggest problems with Fi:
1.) She's boring. Her personality is to not have a personality. The portions where she dances are in such stark contrast to her deadpan, robotic nature that it's unnecessarily jarring.
2.) She had absolutely no story relevance whatsoever. She spewed exposition. That's it. I can't remember a single point in the entire game where a scene could not have easily progressed without Fi. If you can think of one, please tell me.
3.) In a lot of cases, she belabored explanations by repeating or oversimplifying something that was already perfectly explained. For example, in Faron Woods, the Kikwi elder tells you he knows where Zelda went but can't bring himself to tell you unless you help him find the younger Kikwis. Fi then appears and tells you that you need to find the younger Kikwis so that the elder will tell you where Zelda went. That's not helping, that's just wasting time I could be spending playing the game.
4.) The ending to her character arc, if you can call it that, is entirely ham-handed. It's obvious that the writers wanted us to feel sorry for her but she's been of almost no importance to Link, the story, or the player at any point. She didn't even have a personality for me to get attached to. It's ridiculous. Compare her ending to, say, Midna's from Twilight Princess. Midna was extremely significant to the story, had a development arc, and was useful to the player throughout the game. She was a much more sympathetic character than Fi all-around. When Midna leaves Link's world forever, the player can take it much more seriously because they share in the loss of a character they became attached to.
It's true that Fi was annoying to a significant number of players, but I find her biggest problems are in how poorly written her character was.
Personally I think her character could have been salvaged pretty easily. Imagine this: Fi begins the game exactly as she was. She's robotic. She relays too much exposition. She over-explains. Link (and possibly the supporting cast) is visibly annoyed by this. Over time, though, Fi begins developing a personality. She begins acting more and more human the more time she spends around Link and the supporting cast. She becomes less annoying and less of an expository fire hose and starts offering genuine help and usefulness. She starts having emotions and concerns and wishes. Eventually, she acts just like a human would. Link and others warm up to her significantly. The player would too.
Then, after all of that, have the ending that Fi had. Now you've got a human-like, sympathetic character forced to disappear and go to sleep forever by something none of the cast has any control over. That's a heartbreaking scene right there, especially considering how hard you could play the self-sacrifice card. She knew the entire time that she would disappear when you finished your quest, but she helped you anyway so you could save the world. It would be unfair because after genuinely helping you she receives no reward. See how evocative that is? This is what happens when characters are developed beyond what's most convenient to moving exposition.
Fi is the worst character in Zelda histort. She fucking killed me one time. I was walking through quick sand and when I almost reach the other side she POPPED up and said "hey look out there's quick sand around here" DEAD. That game was just frustrating to play no matter what. Motion controls sometimes worked sometimes didnt, enemy would block every move no matter what. Plus that stupid big toe dooofy looking "boss battle" you had to do every once in a while was a waste of time.
Skyward Sword was junk
I liked Skyward Sword. Though I don't really get too deep into game design, my opinions are based on whether I enjoyed playing the game or not.
The way I see it, Skyward Sword has the highest highs and the lowest lows of all of the 3D Zeldas. Nothing in any of the other games is as fucking amazing as the fight with Koloktos. A great deal of the boss battles are by far some of the most amazing in 3D Zelda history, the final fight with Ghirahim for example. On the other hands, NOTHING in any 3D Zelda game is as bad as the fucking robot fetch quest, nothing is as disappointing as the final reward for collecting all of the gratitude crystals, nothing is as much of a let down as the lack of interesting sidequests and actual fun things to do outside of the main story. And no other "exposition fairy" is as annoying, pointless, and badly written as Fi.
oh god

Well, at least it's not Mario Maker.
Uhh do they have permission? Namco Bandai is C&Ding streams and videos.

GG are a bit too big to make a mistake like that. They even explicitly say that Bandai gave them a copy. In fact, why else they get a copy?

They may have obtained it through other means.
Haven't namdai banco been giving out early copies to streamers and such for publicity?

and for some fucking strange reason they are now backpedalling and C&D the streams.

Again, I think Game Grumps are a bit too big to make such a mistake.
Yeah i think they have too many people looking out for them to make a mistake for playing it early.

I think they allow streaming up to a certain point in the game. Probably by the time they get to that point DSIII will be out anyway.

Bandai Namco appearently asked a bunch of streamers and such to not show any content from April 1 til the 11th. Which is why this is weird.
I think the grumps need to focus on making some kind of progress each episode for OOT. Like, what the point of watching them almost get Epona. They should have done a cut to them on the race again in the same episode.
But no, instead, Arin decides to completely abandon that mission altogether and do something else entirely. Also, why was he randomly wandering around Kakariko Village for so long if he knew what he needed the whole time?

Well that's not true, he went to Dampy in the new episode and got a hook shit, and he needed 50 rupees to bet Epona with.
I've seen no problems so far.
Also, I think they may have opened up a walkthrough between episodes. Some of the things Arin said in this latest episode sounded like he was reading from one.
Just as i was getting back into GG they play Mario Maker CMON. shit.
The Grumps met Rob Schneider
