It's incredibly smart of the grumps to be doing live shows and NSP doing more concerts. Youtube is a pretty shitty long term plan for financial stability. Instead, they can use the youtube audience as a means of filling up their live shows. Looking at how many sold out shows they've had, I would argue that it's working. It's certainly going to be making them way more money then just raw ad revenue.
This is a great strategy for future proofing yourself. I worry for channels like H3H3 that build their entertainment careers on sites like youtube. If you don't expand your outreach, when the platform goes down, you'll go down just as hard.
and that doesn't it any less ass
So I haven't touched the Grumps of Game for a few months now, what recent series would you guys recommend me?
Oney Plays Uncharted 4
as chill as Danny is, it's getting increasingly difficult to have any respect for him when he constantly shoves NSP advertisements into the start of every other episode
It's not their fault you're too lazy to move the mouse and click past it. Couldn't take more than 10 or 20 seconds. Even with maximizing the browser, clicking past it, and then minimizing it again
I found Jon very boring
I found him meh too but this is mostly because his humor is less improvisational and more scripted
he works really well with scripted work, much like an actor does. He has a very natural flow that works well with it, however he doesn't work as well with improvising and talking about nothing. He's not so much 'BORING' as he is relaxed. Danny is much more spontanious on camera allowing him to be better on the fly than Jon IMHO, but he doesn't really get into a script like Jon does. Danny of course being a singer more than an actor means that any scripted work he does belongs in song anyways.
Jon and Danny are both equally energetic and funny but both work differently than one another. Jon is an actor and Danny is a singer.
IMHO I hope we see Jon returning for a few 50 episodes and we get at least 10 of them with just Jon and Dan, I think they would work naturally together.

i feel like they'd have great chemistry for each other, because they're both incredibly passionate about what they do and they're not far off from each other (jon is a theater major iirc and danny is a music major.) plus they've both said they love each other though it's never been caught on camera unfortunately.

10 - 20 seconds every 10 minutes, yeah. And I do do that. It's fucking annoying when I'm in the middle of something else. Not sure how that's hard to understand.

Youtube can be reliable assuming you don't have to split revenue with too many parties (eg commission work like music/editors/artists/etc and you do a good job of balancing your finances while still building savings. That said people will eventually get tired of their repetitive jobs or find new passions so it's always good to have secondary routes like touring or streaming or at least other jobs. And for GG they have various editors, lots of expenses to maintain their grumpsace and equipment, and a multitude of main personalities on the channel ETC so if anyone needs a backup plan it's them

The Grumps are starring in Jesse Cox, Michelle Morrow and Dan Harmon's new webseries about a clueless eSports team. I read it's premiering on the Grumps channel but that could be wrong.
Here's the press release:
Untitled comedy from Dan Harmon’s Starburns Industries: Created by Michele Morrow and Jesse Cox, gaming-industry professionals, who also will appear as actors in the series about a newly formed team of eSports players trying to make it to the top in the cutthroat world of competitive gaming. The six-episode series will debut on Game Grumps’ YouTube channel in 2017. Executive produced by Dan Harmon (“Community,” “Rick & Morty”), Michael Waldron, Steve Levy, Arin Hanson and Brent Lilley, along with Morrow and Cox. Sarah Carbiener and Erica Rosbe (“Rick & Morty”) will serve as showrunners and writers, as well as co-EPs.
I think I saw somewhere it was going to be YouTube red.

Yeah, Jesse said it in the above video. Still, that's gonna have some bonkers production value.

no arin involvement in this one, [sp]but barry is a camel so that's cool[/sp]
And there's no Dan involvement in this one.

I'm hoping for good things from the Resident Evil playthrough. It seems like Arin really loves the game and knows every inch of it, which I find preferable to when he's forced to play a game he hates. I really hate ragey Arin, I don't find that entertaining. But Arin when he's playing a game he knows and loves is awesome, like the Bloodbourne playthrough.

Fuck yeah, please let Resi play be good Arin.
Also how long until Barry and Suzy give up on FNAF:SL?

Youtube red huh?
I just tried some of it, paid 2.5 dollars to watch a pewdiepie red vid where he did a "video game irl" thing in a mock up mental ward. He looked uncomfortable through the whole thing, it was painfully fake, and the worst thing: No like/dislike bar, no viewcount and comments blocked. Youtube Red subscriptions are not available in Norway anyways, so I can't get it, but even if I could I'd stay clear of it
Weirdly I got YouTube Red by subscribing to Google Play Music.
I can agree with xeo xeo that very little of the Red content interests me and that Pewdiepie series is god awful. Mainly what I appreciate Red for is the ability to listen to YouTube videos in the background, which should really be a standard feature.
I'll check out this new series with the grumps and let you guys know if it's anything worthwhile.
I think Arin's Megaman X playthrough may be one of my favorite series to date
It's so down to earth, Arin talks about video game design, and he stays focused on the game itself too
I hope we get more like this
As I guessed Suzy and Barry abandoned a Fnaf game, AGAIN.

I'm surprised this didn't get posted.
Wait but really why did they apologize?

OH.
OOOOOOOH.
I won't lie, I think the visuals in Vestige look pretty nice even though it doesn't seem like there's much to do in the game.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I don't know why everyone's freaking out, they were nowhere near the same level as Pregnant Elsa Foot Checkup or any of the other fucked up ones.

Hell, they're miles ahead of the Frozen games Suzy was playing with them on the KittyKatGaming channel.
