I tried it once because I thought it sounded interesting, I expected a map that fit the theme and all that stuff, got hyped during the loading screen because I thought of how cool it'd be to play as a rebel in WW2. Turns out it's just DarkRP with different skins and a bunch of people that think spamming "gas the jews" is funny

it's the most popular map, thus everyone has it, thus they do not need to download it again, thus people prefer playing on servers with that map, thus servers choose to use that map, thus it's the most popular map

My favorites back in the day were RP_OMG_City and RP_CSDesert. Neither of which I think don't work in the new version of GMOD.
Man I feel fucking old now because that was back in 2007-09.
This makes me miss back when I had my GMod server, it didn't really have a lot of rules. At least we didn't watch your Steam overlay.
I only hope someday I have one again. I already got plans for it now if it ever happens, I'm going to do a bunch of stuff better;
A. Police will get an armory to restore health and ammo, because I imagine IRL they probably don't have to pay with their own personal money for their equipment.
B. I probably won't have a lot of admins and such unless there is an actual player-base, I find that most servers have far more admins and such than necessary.
C. NLR for police will be different, criminals will have to run and hide because a thing will be that it's kind of bended so that the police can keep responding to an emergency and not be helpless if all the police get killed. (Because really, wouldn't they just call more like the FBI or the National Guard? Maybe I'm wrong. )
D. I want people to actually be able to be involved in it actively. Like for example jobs with mini-games to make money in a quicker fashion than just waiting for 'payday'
E. Albeit it I know that likely my hopes of having a successful YT channel is a mere pipe dream, I think that instead of having all that donator nonsense and what not, I'll have it my subscribers get special jobs and such maybe.
F. I think I'll have an interest system if I do make something for banking that only gives you money whilst you are on the server. That is probably done a lot already, but in any case.
G. Other stuff.

Traditional DarkRP servers need a fuck ton of admins because of how often they are bothered by the whiny players, which is why I actually feel bad for a lot of DarkRP admins.
But the real key to a good RP server is no money printers and that you allow anything in a job, as long as you roleplay it out properly. There is very few servers I've seen that do this but damn can it be fun, RDMers/trolls still get banned for failing to RP properly and you get a lot more actually fun moments. Plus less stress for the admins.
