Cool Reviews of the 3D Zelda Games from a guy that deserves more views - General

A lot of people really really like the 3D Zelda games but we rarely ever hear the cool plinkett-esque anal-ysis of them. It's nice to really see why these games can be so good instead of nostalgia-induced reviews. So I present to you these videos (which is not made by me) (also sorry if I'm late). P.S Not a lot of jokes/humour are in these videos so don't expect any lols, just enlightenment. ah yes I remember this guy. His reviews are VERY in depth, I like his style a lot.

Yeah there is a real lack of reviewers like this guy. Too many times you see a review of a guy who awkardly tries to crack an unoriginal joke every minute rather than reviewing the actual product itself.

Skyward Sword was such a boring Zelda game, seriously backtracking isn't interesting same for re-beating bosses multiple times. And yeah like him, I almost gave up playing when they asked me to collect notes in the flooded Feron Woods. But I kept going because I had hopes the game would get a lot better, which it really didn't.

That was so thorough. I have never digested so much Zelda in so little time.

Also mentioning "two guys playing games and screwing around" in connection with a really well thought, probably written down, carefully weighted piece of writing-craftsmanship IS a statement about the different ways of entertainment we are consuming, and if it is not, it is a question at least. You didn't seem to think about it like that but your need to post this after some guy did so already up there tells me enough about the quality of your feedback so there's that.

While this guy was pretty in depth with his view points. It seems like he missed out on some portions of the game, notably in Majoras Mask when he said that the bomb mask has positives and negatives, blowing up things in return for a portion of your health, that is not true.. You can put up your shield and use the bomb mask. He also doesn't upgrade his magic bar when he complains about the magic, which is pretty important in Majoras Mask.

Holy shit i never really got the whole gerudo backstory. So you basicly wipe out the whole race by killing ganon!?

Also either the backstory or my memory is very vague but IIRC the game never says that they can only get children from the male member of the tribe. They could also be fucking random strangers or whoever but only get girls from that and every 100 years the result is a male child.

All I'm saying is that you're comparing two completely different genres/products, with both of them not trying to be anything like each other. Game Grumps is not a well-thought out, carefully written and carefully planned review. It is literally two guys turning on a tv, playing games, making jokes, and recording it. Whether it's any good or not is irrelevant, it's just not the same. It's like comparing tennis to basketball. They both contain balls, but they're nothing alike.

If you are not ok with me calling gamegrumps "manchild" just say it. Back on topic: I am currently playing Skyward Sword, I lost all motivation now :( Also I was really really terrified when I played MM the first time and link screams like mad when putting on the mask. I never wanted to change masks. Yet I had to. A game triggering that reaction in me is just amazing.

First, I just found it a bit unreasonable to go "Hey this guy is good, not like this other completely different thing with very little in common that sucks" It just didn't seem like a very good argument to me. Second, while I don't care if you like it or not, I've just gotten tired of the fact that most people who don't like them have an annoying habit of bringing up how they hate them at every possible occasion, usually using the manchild thing. Sorry if I took any of that frustration out in my response. Anyway, back on topic: I'm making my way through Skyward Sword, and yeah, I really wish it wasn't as linear as it is. What Nintendo needs to realise is that the only vehicle we need is a horse. I just want a map to run around on, it's so much better than vehicle parts where you have huge empty spaces where nothing happens. I don't hate it I called it manchild that's not hating that's disliking and it was a pretty sweet comparison as the gamegrumps stuff is a way of interpreting games completely opposite of what the guy in the OP is doing. I've watched a few gg videos and the humour looked pretty childish to me, in my opinion it's a pretty superficial way of consuming the medium and doesn't do the beauty and art of it any justice but then again the guy in the OP might be missing out o the humour so there's that. But lets not discuss that and I also dont' want to go into the thread just to say that I dislike it so yeah maybe you guys can live with me thinking gamegrumps is a bit manchildish and I can live with you guys being entertained by it and we are cool and get back to what a great experience Majoras Mask was.

I disagree with him on Fi, yeah she was annoying when playing the game but the fact she remains in the master sword through out the series as a (maybe) conscious entity is fairly profound and that the sword itself almost wants to find each version of link. But yeah good reviews

These reviews has nothing to do with Game Grumps what so ever. I could say that these reviews are terrible because they didn't make me laugh, but Game Grumps did. I hope that you can see how wrong this is from that angle. Anyway, this dicussion shouldn't even exist on this thread to begin with.

Something I noticed at the end of his Skyward Sword review, he mentions there'll be more Zelda on the way. I'm hoping he covers the 2D Zeldas next.

IMHO i never played zelda as a kid other than like link to the past. i got OOT when i saw it on the wii virtual store and i was honestly fucking bored of it. it was way too vague at hints, the combat was meh, the camera was atrocious, and traveling to point A to point B was just a massive time waster with no sense of progression. Meanwhile i played windwaker before that when i had a gamecube and loved it to death. i think people need to put the nostalgia goggles down and look at OOT and see why it was pretty damn bad. it was cool for its time, but people didnt know better because there were barely any games like it at the time.
