Yes but it means that no matter how far science advances the likelihood of the human race; along with anything you might produce or have known in your life time, resisting indefinably is extremely unlikely. Even if far in the future we may attain near unlimited life the universe reaching maximum entropy will destroy that.
With the same being said for any other forms of life that may be out there.
For an awesome short story regarding heat death read Issac Asimov's "The Last Question"

this makes me want to cry because.. well some of you would understand

I wont care about it, i'l be long dead. :smug:
Is it really growing? Or is it stretching?
Well neither it is spreading out. Cause if it was stretching it would stretch stars and planets also.
Well neither it is spreading out. Cause if it was stretching it would stretch stars and planets also.
But we'd be stretching as well, so we couldn't possibly notice it.
But we'd be stretching as well, so we couldn't possibly notice it.
It almost hurts the head even thinking about that. IF it was stretching, would we even notice it. Or would everything seem normal to us... Also wouldn't it offset everything, like how we rotate around the sun and wouldn't the planets be more oval then round.
I'm scared. :ohdear:

I imagine it is an ambient stretch not from two points so no, you qouldn't be able to tell.
Lol, ambient stretch.

There is deffinetely life out there.

Wouldn't it be awesome if earth was as big like that big ass star?
Wouldn't it be awesome if earth was as big like that big ass star?
No. If we had adapted to that type of atmospheric pressure (The larger the planet, the greater the atmospheric pressure), you would more than likely fall apart if you went into outer space. Think of the Volus from Mass Effect. They wear those suits to emulate the atmospheric pressure from their home planet. But, if it had the same atmospheric pressure as it did now, it'd be pretty awesome to have such a vast landscape to explore. The only problem would be travel, as it'd most likely take centuries to span the entire world.
If Earth were the size of VY Canis Majoris.

I'm saddened by the simple fact that I'll be long dead before the average man can travel through space.
This thread has blown my mind.
Do you know whats the biggest thing in the universe?

yep
It makes me so sad to realize that we will never find out enough about the universe in my lifetime.
Tell me the biggest/last number that there is.
Infinity is not a number, it is a concept.
Infinity (symbolically represented by ∞) is a concept in mathematics and philosophy that refers to a quantity without bound or end. People have developed various ideas throughout history about the nature of infinity. In mathematics, infinity is defined in the context of set theory. The word comes from the Latin infinitas or "unboundedness."

Absolutely fucking incredible.
Mind = Blown.
Wouldn't it be awesome if earth was as big like that big ass star?
Nope, any life on a planet that size would be extremely small, and flat
And don't forget, There are neuron stars with the mass of our sun crammed into the size of a city block. People compare that with All of Humanity being condensed into the size of a sugar cube, so Size does not always = Mass
Nope, any life on a planet that size would be extremely small, and flat
Technically it wouldn't be flat :eng101:
After reading these comments I'm amazed how naive most of you are.

Explain, oh king of kings.
Supposedly we should be immortal in like 50 years. At the very least I am hoping we get to the point soon where our lifespans increase by a huge bit.
Also at the rate we are going I am sure space travel will become a lot more feasible within years, not centuries. Remember how far we got in just 100 years, and with science accelerating at the pace it is then one can only be optimistic in what we will accomplish in this century.
Technically it wouldn't be flat :eng101:
Flat can be used as a relative term, nothing is technically flat since space itself has a curve to it.
Heres a related and depressing fact.
Eventually there will be no free energy in the universe, causing everything in it to become very close to absolute zero in temperature. Meaning there will not be enough energy to support motion, let alone life.
O really? You better explain that.
