"I want to spread awareness of epilepsy but 20$ is 20$. Furthermore I'll come up with such video title so as much as possible people will click on it"
I thought this dude might have just uploaded the video without much thought, but everything you just quoted tells me that he is ethical, responsible, and socially aware of what he's doing. How many people do you think would have just uploaded it without talking to the guy? Or pulled a Logan Paul and made it into a spectacle?
Wanted to point out for those of you who don't know but if you're ever with a person having a seizure make sure you do not try to restrain them. To do: - make sure that their head does not slam into anything hard, put your hands inbetween or a cushion if possible - monitor and observe their mouth, make sure that the tongue does not fall back (if it does, get in there with two fingers) - when the seizure has passed turn them over to the side, make sure they have free airways - make sure that normal/steady breathing resumes - stay with them untill they have recovered
Honestly couldn't care less if it's monetized. Good on them for making awareness building experience out of a scary situation.

If the seizure lasts for more than 5 minutes call an ambulance. If it's their first seizure call an ambulance. Remove all objects from the person, if possible place a cushion behind their head. Do not attempt to move them in any way, unless there's an imminent danger apparent.
I think most people who have seizures don't actually remember having them. Pretty interesting if certain people can still tell what's going on around them though.
when I had a seizure as a teen I could remember flashes of being rushed to the hospital via ambulance, like it was a dream, dont remember anything else though
So I don't really know how VRchat works. Having a player have a seizure would be rare I imagine, and from what I understand having visually triggered seizures is also rare. I see players with props, would it be possible to make a blackout box that you could cover a player with that would also block out other models? From what I understand from what I see you could make a box that could encompass a player having a seizure but then you would have dickhead edgelords like the fuck knuckle in the Wendy's model clipping through and possibly making it worse.
I've seen someone seize in class once, absolutely out of no where, they could have bashed their head on something bad, it was fucked up
Reminds me of a a video I saw awhile ago where someone had a seizure in Rec Room. Unlike the majority of the people in this video, absolutely no one took the situation seriously and crowded around the kid, carrying on and making noises. One dude was at least trying to help, covering the seizure victim's eyes in an attempt to block out light coming in from the headset. I have no idea if that helps, but it's a neat thing to keep in mind at least.
Christ, that video. I couldn't really watch after they were still fucking around and you hear his, what seems, brother in the background screaming "are you okay?"
By default, privacy mode is enabled in which other plays appear invisible when they come too close to you.
Most players (who know of the ability to disable it) have the personal space disabled though, I'd guess this guy also has it disabled since he has setup Full-body IK tracking and all.

I'm not epileptic but that Wendy model made me a bit nauseous.
I'm not epileptic but that Wendy model made me a bit nauseous.
The fact the player still stand so close to him while people repeatedly told him to back off was making me kinda furious, even halfway in the video he still didn't change the character and other characters were blocking off the wendy avatar so the person having the seizure could not see the model.
You have to respect the dedication of the guy still doing the Morty voice asking "are you okay?" while someone has an actual seizure

And how do you tell if their tongue has rolled back?
Don't put your fingers in somebody's mouth who's having a seizure lol If they stop seizing and their tongue is folded back, remove the blockage and start compression if there's no pulse. Sucks dick but you can't just go prodding in there
Yeah, the tongue thing is an old wives tale. Doctors will smack you if you mention it.

Don't even put a wooden spoon or other object in there. They will not swallow their tongue.
Glad to see that the guy's okay. Really shocking to see something like that happen in a game and not being able to do much. Though I do think that the Wendy should've been kicked from the server cause he could've caused another episode and that guy trying to give him "mouth to mouth" wasn't helping the situation either. Still, good to see that he's okay in the end.
Imagine a world where you can see someone dieing from a heart attack and you cant even do anything but watch
There's actually a manga about this where reality is so drab and uninteresting that people spend their lives 24/7 in VR, and one of the main characters watches her grandma's avatar just go limp because she dies in real life.
goddamn that's fucking terrifying to witness and I'm glad he's OK. with that said, I'm digging that guys lord of skulls avatar.
A family member of mine is epileptic, it's pretty scary when it happens Once my mom came home to see said family member in a pool of blood because they went into a seizure and hit their head on a sharp corner; my mom was pretty fucked up for a couple of months after witnessing that. Luckily said person hasn't had a seizure in a year or so, but it's something I think about when hanging out with that family member.
Person that had that model on flailing around over and in front of the guy should be permabanned tbh that is malicious as fuck
For context, that model is very popular and easy to obtain in the game. A lot of people wear it because it's one of the stupidest and flashiest ones you can easily get. I've seen it loads of times on various people. That person definitely should've changed out of it as soon as the situation was clear, but they may not have genuinely realized that their model could be the cause of epilepsy. What I think should be done is the model's author removing it from the game now that we've had an actual incident with it. It's just a stupid meme model, I don't think it'll hurt anyone to take it off the server.
Why are people dumbing this lmao its the 100% truth. approaching someone having a seizure isnt a good idea if theyre moving aroumd uncontrollably, it can harm either of you. trying to hold or restrain them wont stop them having a seizure, itll just put unnecessary obstruction against their spasms that they really dont need
Putting your hands gently under their head so they don't violently bang it on the ground is fine Also as a former EMT do NOT put your fingers in someones mouth if they are having a seizure. They'll be fine. Calling 911 if a stranger is having a seizure is a good idea (outside of VR). Emergency responders are more than happy to go back to the station if the dude recovers and they don't need to go to the hospital.
Do people remember what happened during seizures? Or are do they just come back and realize (from them laying on the ground or w/e) that they were in a seizure because they know they're susceptible to them? Does anyone here know this? I find mixed answers on the internet, but I assume that is because of the various sorts of things that cause seizures...
My uncle says he doesn't remember them most of the time, he can remember his grand mal seizures occasionally when he's off his meds but he gets absence seizures every few weeks regardless and those are like 5-10 seconds where you just pause, he never remembers those but he usually realizes it after it passes. It really depends on the symptoms I think. he's got epilepsy, worst thing that's happened to him was him falling down some stairs while having a seizure, he was out for a few days after that.

I never witnessed him going into a seizure first-hand though.
I honestly think the best thing to have done in this situation would be for the host to have kicked the person having a seizure. If the person is having a seizure caused by something in VR chat like that rainbow wendy, removing them from the game will remove them from anything that might have happened to cause it. And also, there is nothing that any of the people in the chat can do to help. Not a damn thing. Unless someone knows him, where they live and can get help for them, all the people there can do is watch as someone maybe dies or doesn't.
i know people are calling for death of some of the people but someone having a seizure while im playing vrchat is the last thing that would cross my mind and I'd assume someone was joking or messing around
