Star Wars Battlefront Gameplay - Darth Vader vs Luke Light Saber Battle

yeah thats the only thing bothering me as well.
I actually like the combat, but Vader's voice really bothers me its very off.
Sounds like his armor accidentally had a bad mic installed in it and hes communicating with his troops over TeamSpeak.
"NOW YOU WILL KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARK SIDE." x 50 times per match.
Just so fucking cheap and bad they couldn't get the real voice actors or something closer.
Hell just use the fucking movie sound edits since they declare themselves the masters in game sound production.

Nothing can stop my lightsaber!
My hype train went off a bridge.
battlefront 2's lightsaber battles were just as lame. just running around trying to hit each other. it's kind of a difficult thing to pull off without making it turn based like KOTOR's
That's the way it is with Jedi Academy's online saber fights, too, but the art is when you're good at it, you're good at it, it shows, you do well, you hit your mark. You don't have any animation lock and have to smash buttons faster than the other person to win. There was a saber lock that happened on extremely rare occasions but the server I played in had that and force powers turned off. It was just 32 players hanging out and chatting out of combat, and opting into the hour and half long FFA's that took place on the map whenever you felt like, pure saber fights
So I got early access to the beta.
I'm sorry to report it's just bad.
I really wanted it to be good. I really did. It's just not.
In terms of visuals, sound design, and general atmosphere, the game gets a straight up 10/10. The timing of the music, the sound design, the chatter between characters, the sounds of weapons and explosions, it really feels like you're in one of the movies.
And then you get to actually playing the game.
-Vehicles are power-ups you pick up randomly around the map, making it impossible to coordinate having air support up when it's time to fire on the vulnerable AT-ATs. Same goes for air strikes and turrets.
-Getting to play a hero is completely random, not score or score-streak based.
-The overheating of the blasters prevents you from killing more than 2-3 people in rapid succession.
-The sniper rifle is a one shot, 7 second cool down that ANYONE can carry at all times with no penalty (besides it taking up a card slot). This means that you can play as a riflemen, see a guy far away, switch to this magic sniper and kill them from across the map, then continue to play as a riflemen. You can do this every 7 seconds.
-This was known, but the no-classes really ruins the pacing of the game. There's no need to resupply or heal or do any sort of coordination because literally everything you can use is some sort of cooldown, including grenades!
-Strafing is incredibly effective, and I mean the ultra gay rapid-back and forth kind of strafing where you just mash A and D and your character essentiallys twerks while dodging blaster fire.
-You can also bunny hop, and I mean old school style bunny hop, because there's no stamina system.
-The above two points, plus the introduction of jetpacks, and the fact that kill times are near that of Halo in some cases, makes firefights completely non-sensical and almost luck based, with people jumping around and dodging while the insane HP regen keeps them alive.
-No squads or voice chat, so coordination is just null
I really wanted it to be good but I was laughing half the time I was playing it. It's that un-fun.
this just sounds nothing at all like the game I fell in love with before
I get that it's a new title, but vehicles as powerups? that sounds less battlefront and a little more quake to me
i don't see why heroes are random either, they were fun to play because they were difficult to earn in MP
so disappointed

rip
I don't even know how they fucked up so bad. It's like all the game's attention to detail and design went towards the movie and asset authenticity and the rest of the game's planning and development was shoveled together to make a workable product. Even if these aren't the DICE responsible for Battlefield, this is still a series directly inspired by Battlefield and yet somehow this game is outright inferior to both Battlefield and the original Battlefront games as far as I know.

This is the quickest and hardest I've ever had something ruined for me, god damn that is a monumental shame.
No one does Vader well outside of James Earl Jones.
[editline]6th October 2015[/editline]
And maybe Chad.
I wonder why James isn't doing his voice in the game? I mean he recently voiced Vader in Star Wars Rebels, and I imagine he had more llines in Rebels.
Is it supposed to be in beta, god damn this is some early alpha shit

Beta basically just means that they're in feature lock, it's all polishing from here on out. The game itself looks fairly complete regardless of how shit it is or not.

I dunno. Betas for games this big seem to be big PR events nowadays.

That was totally expected with the way DICE has been handling vehicles recently, neutering them to the point they became a variant of CoD's kill/score-streaks, but without the kill/score part.
Well balls. Like, I had no interest in Battlefront since the lack of server browser announcement, but damn, what you've listed is just pathetic.

DICE is known to confuse "beta" and "demo", considering that half the shit that is spotted in Beta phase gets carried over to release, and some more gets added.
Literally spat my drink out in laughter when I saw "PRESS FIRE TO WIN FIGHT"
This is what happens when you rush your game out for a stupid movie release
Lmao the epic fight was just them locking saber's and standing completely still
They cut out the humping, oh well.
I disagree, that's not bad at all.
It only triggers on a very specific scenario (Both people doing heavy attack at the same time) and actually is a cooler little bit for the swords to interlock than be a wild weird slice-fest.
That's the issue here. I can see lightsaber battles having some promise, but this video is shit and shows not much at all. Also, all the money DICE has and they couldn't just grab sound bytes from the films for Vader's voice?
I died laughing when the guy got force choked and sliced.

Heroes still look pretty badass.

Alright that is pretty good.

I haven't played the beta, but I remember from playing the alpha that all pickups are in a fixed location with a fixed pickup. If you want to fly, you just have to learn the locations of the vehicle pickups. A TIE Fighter pickup will always have the same location. And Snowspeeders would only appear in stage 2 and 3 at fixed locations, with more available in stage 3.
One of my favourite parts of the old ones was rushing to the more obscure parts of the maps to get the weird ships like the Bespin ships or the unique ship on Geonosis, or the rush to see tanks roll out of their hangar area. The vehicles being there make the game way more enjoyable, and it pissed me off when they took out hangars from BF4 for NO reason.
Looks like they tried MOBA systems in an FPS battlefield game
And this is gonna tank hard if it stays that way
I've played a few hours of this in closed beta
It's fun, sound design is mostly spot on (except those voices fuck)
If you go in expecting battlefront 2+ you'll be disapointed, it's not, but it's still a bunch of fun
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
but tbh, don't take someones word for it in a forum post. Just play it tomorrow when it's open

i literally don't know what you mean by this.
Nothing in the game is like a moba at all?
If they couldn't get JEJ, they should have rang up Ving Rhames. I mean listen to this shit. People are even confusing him with James.

And if Arby's can afford him, I'd think EA could too.
AND, he's an amazing actor. I wouldn't even mind if he just took over as designated Vader.

What I saw was some retarded ass "slap AT-ST with lightsaber" and then Luke on his knees like a bitch.
Oh yeah the game looks stunning as said before, but gameplay-wise it is fucking plain corn flakes.
I played the alpha, was fun as hell. Stupid that vehicles and shit are powerups tho.
Aside from that the gunplay, the tempo, the visuals and immsersion were great.
What I saw was some retarded ass "slap AT-ST with lightsaber" and then Luke on his knees like a bitch.
that's exactly what happens in BF1 and BF2 though????
[editline]7th October 2015[/editline]
like just retardedly running around slapping vehicles with your lightsaber.
