There is spawn protection, you can't take damage for a couple of seconds after spawning or until you shoot. People spawning on their partner have killed me a few times because I couldn't hurt them.
That's just something they ported from Battlefield 4 and it's really not a real "spawn protection". They need to make it like BF4's Rush where the area you spawn in can't be reached by enemy players. I could happily sit in a turret behind the rebel spawn and mow them down as they spawned in. There's a reason why BC2 didn't have spawn protection and they added it to subsequent games.

Neither of the characters moved with any cohesion or sensibility. They spasm around like a 500 ping game of Chivalry, except with jetpacks and janky animation. How could you ever greenlight something like this? for the lazy: [vid]http://fat.gfycat.com/AdolescentWeirdEasteuropeanshepherd.webm[/vid]

Every single time after I was lucky to get more than two because of how awfully Luke/Vader handle. Rest of the game's fun though. Plays nicely:
As somebody who just played battlefront 2 like 2 months ago, I really don't see what's wrong with the new one
as someone who hasn't really played the battlefront series, this game looks like garbage because (at least at the moment, in beta phase, which I understand can be improved upon but I really doubt it will be) it looks like janky garbage that will die in about a month's worth of gameplay because it looks like COD:Advanced Warfare mixed with Battlefield with Starwars aesthetics plastered over it. The graphics seriously don't look that impressive either, not that graphics makes a videogame but it's embarrassingly mediocre coming from a big company like this. It just looks uninspired and soulless in the aesthetic and animations.

The graphics are great, the sound is amazing, and the atmosphere is top notch.
You can hate the gameplay or whatever all you want, but I really really REALLY don't get how anyone can look at this game and not say it's gorgeous...
I really wanted it to be good but I was laughing half the time I was playing it. It's that un-fun.
honestly, bf4 skinned as star wars sounds better
I just hate the spawn things and the way Walker assault works just annoys me because I'd like to see snow speeders but instead we get stuck with, "Get the cinematic sequence for the bombers rolling."
You can hate the gameplay or whatever all you want, but I really really REALLY don't get how anyone can look at this game and not say it's gorgeous...
That's all DICE is good at nowadays; Beautiful graphics and great sound. Too bad all the talented gameplay guys left during the Bad Company days.
now that i think about it, this game seems more and more like BF 1943. There is no ammo, just cooldowns/reloads, very bare bones classes, and smaller maps. [editline]9th October 2015[/editline] which is funny because i LOVED the shit out of 1943. but ill wait to see the beta before deciding with this.
I find it funny how they still haven't fixed most/all of the MAJOR map exploits that let you get completely out of bounds and into positions that are almost impossible to be killed from. I played a bit during closed beta and it was just a camp fest. There were even a few spots where you could get under the map with explosions, though I think those did wind up fixed a while ago. Yet another frostbite engine game with shit tier hit detection, lag, and collision/boundry bugs out the ass.
Battlefield 3 didn't have knife reversal. That was Battlefield 4

That was Battlefield 4. And it was a complete disaster. It meant it was so risky to use the knife that the only situation in which you should was if they were completely unaware.
Right, that was a typo, I didn't even play BF3.
Jesus, what the hell is this? Neither of the characters moved with any cohesion or sensibility. They spasm around like a 500 ping game of Chivalry, except with jetpacks and janky animation.
I'm guess those animations are janky because they couldn't just copy/paste from BF4 and had to be made from scratch [editline]9th October 2015[/editline] Not an excuse but you know.
I don't think any of the animations are copy any pasted from BF4
So... were you guys expecting any different from EA?
[vid]http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aQnydGz_460sv.mp4[/vid] better footage
[vid]http://img-9gag-fun.9cache.com/photo/aQnydGz_460sv.mp4[/vid] better footage
see that actually looks cool [editline]9th October 2015[/editline] well, I've played a little gunplay doesn't feel satisfying, the vehicle thing is a bit better in practice than it sounds at first
uh i'm pretty sure you could force push your way out of that shit
oh shit JKA MP. I was thinking Battlefront 2 Hero vs Hero. v:v:v
I don't think any of the animations are copy any pasted from BF4
Most of the soldiers animations are taken from BF4.
So I got early access to the beta. I'm sorry to report it's just bad. I really wanted it to be good. I really did. It's just not. In terms of visuals, sound design, and general atmosphere, the game gets a straight up 10/10. The timing of the music, the sound design, the chatter between characters, the sounds of weapons and explosions, it really feels like you're in one of the movies. And then you get to actually playing the game. -Vehicles are power-ups you pick up randomly around the map, making it impossible to coordinate having air support up when it's time to fire on the vulnerable AT-ATs. Same goes for air strikes and turrets. -Getting to play a hero is completely random, not score or score-streak based. -The overheating of the blasters prevents you from killing more than 2-3 people in rapid succession. -The sniper rifle is a one shot, 7 second cool down that ANYONE can carry at all times with no penalty (besides it taking up a card slot). This means that you can play as a riflemen, see a guy far away, switch to this magic sniper and kill them from across the map, then continue to play as a riflemen. You can do this every 7 seconds. -This was known, but the no-classes really ruins the pacing of the game. There's no need to resupply or heal or do any sort of coordination because literally everything you can use is some sort of cooldown, including grenades! -Strafing is incredibly effective, and I mean the ultra gay rapid-back and forth kind of strafing where you just mash A and D and your character essentiallys twerks while dodging blaster fire. -You can also bunny hop, and I mean old school style bunny hop, because there's no stamina system. -The above two points, plus the introduction of jetpacks, and the fact that kill times are near that of Halo in some cases, makes firefights completely non-sensical and almost luck based, with people jumping around and dodging while the insane HP regen keeps them alive. -No squads or voice chat, so coordination is just null I really wanted it to be good but I was laughing half the time I was playing it. It's that un-fun.
:hypeisnotreal:
:hypeisnotreal:
Play it instead of judging it by posts on an internet form. The beta is free, and open until Monday. PC, XB1 and PS4
Played some of the beta today, and I was surprised how well I was able to run it on my 770. Can't say I'm a fan of the Walker Assault mode, but I love survival and can't wait to see the rest of it.
I've been enjoying the game. Been playing a ton of Drop Zone on Sullust and I have won almost every match I have played since the start. Haven't really bothered with Walker Assault that much but I found the game to be fun. My biggest turn off however is that I sometimes have internet connection problems and I can't even play singleplayer survival without the game asking me to sign in for the whole "EA account" stuff.
Performance-wise the beta is the polar opposite of what BF4-beta was for me. BF4-beta was lagging and stuttering all over the place for quite some time before anything was done to fix it. If I remember right downgrading from the Nvidia-driver SPECIFICALLY meant for the BF4 to a much older one helped a little. Battlefront on the other hand is completely free of any graphical hiccups or glitches and it runs beautifully with everything maxed at 1920x1080. Never dropping below 60fps, usually stays above 90fps. Gameplay-wise it's a bit bland. It should have a bit more content, it gets boring quite fast. Gives a mixed first impression, this feels like it could be a very good game. Or maybe not. Can't tell from the beta to be honest.
The game also ran this smooth in the alpha a few months ago which surprised me
My thoughts on the game after playing the beta are I was left wanting more. The game was far from the atrocity everyone was making it out to be, but I wish there was more substance to be had within the gameplay itself.
I think this beta would've left a better impression if we actually knew what would be in the full game. We only know about like 7 guns, 7 cards and 8 power ups and the game comes out in like a month. No clue what the other gamemodes or maps will be like, too
