I guess he should've accounted for thinner air up in those afghan mountains lol.
Just imagine what the gunner was thinking, he sits closer to the ground than the pilot, fuck that shit.
So what happened to the pilot? Was he sent home?

The Cobra was introduced into service in 1967; that's why it still has skids.
[editline]22nd March 2012[/editline]
well that specific model is the Viper which was introduced in 2010, but it is still based off of cobra

Two in one baby.
i dont think almost being hit by a helicopter counts as lucky
More lucky than getting crushed by the helicopter or being decapitated by the rotors.
wow fuck was he trying to smash those guys or something?
wow fuck was he trying to smash those guys or something?
Definitely not. How dare you even ASSUME that a member of the Army would purposely try and kill his own crew chiefs on the ground man. That is pretty disrespectful. I am in Army Aviation and the pilots and crew chiefs really need to trust each other, not kill one another. That, and this happened during a deployment. There must have been a good reason for the pilot to try and perform this maneuver. Accidents happen, and I am very surprised and thankful that no one got killed or injured. I have seen pilots get seriously injured from stuff that looks a lot milder than this.
Wow that costs the taxpayers billions, each.
Nice one pilot.
Yeah lol i want every dollar of my tax to go towards blowing up brown people!
Yeah lol i want every dollar of my tax to go towards blowing up brown people!
I certainly hope that this is a joke or a troll post. Otherwise you sound pretty damn ignorant.

Yeah, lets just get rid of the defense budget

Says the guy that posts this shit;

I'm sure there's been a case of a serviceman purposely trying to kill a fellow serviceman.
Second of all, the guy was fucking around.
He didn't panic he tried to perform a maneuver called return to target but he failed.
I think he failed to compensate for the thinner air due to the high altitudes.

Right, and what would a viper need wheels for ?
Any other video's of ridiculous shit like this happening?
Hey that's how my dad normally picks Delta and Seals up in his CH-47.
Also, according to my dad it was a "settlement of power" that made him crash. The altitude made the air so much more dense that the engines weren't getting enough power to them when he came whipping back around.

He must crash too then because air gets less dense the higher up you are :P
I'm confused on the third one. What exactly was the Pilot's Error?
I'm confused on the third one. What exactly was the Pilot's Error?
Seems more like poor engineering rather than the pilot's fault.
What a pack of immature yahoos.
Those machines cost millions of dollars to replace!
More money for the heli factory.
'murica fuck yeah.
What a beauty, shame it was discontinued in like 04.
The Viper/Cobra is carrier/ship based, if they gave it wheels it's like to roll off the flight deck.
You sure that's the reason it has skids? Skids are worse in every way AFAIK.
Yeah and I'm pretty sure wheels can be locked in place. I mean planes have wheels but do they roll off when they're on the surface? No.
would enjoy funker's videos more if he wasn't a complete advertising whore

Density & oxygen levels are two different things bro.
Everybody keeps blaming the pilot blindly. Its not like just anybody can become a pilot.
If I remember correctly, Apaches are susceptible to losing control or malfunctioning. I don't quite know why but it happens. Probably because of how agile they are made to be.
/Dad worked on Helicopter maintenance in USAF for a long time. I'm recalling old info I remember so it might not be 100% spot on.
