About four mil down the fucking drain. That pilot is going to get raked over the fuckin' coals.
Someone is getting dishonorably discharged and probably getting jail time for misuse and destruction of government property.
Because you know everything about how the military works don't you? Yes, this makes total sense. Goes to jail and dishonorably discharged for losing control of his Apache. Most likely it wasn't even his fault. Fucks sake, I swear, It's sick that so many of you think you know so much when in reality you don't. I don't know anything about flying and I only recall things my dad has told me about helicopters but I don't hide that fact and act like a pompous idiot.

Why did he even try it? If he had to do it and failed, then he just fucked up. However if did it just for kicks, it's entirely his fault.
"I'm Johnny Knoxville and welcome to Jackass!"
Just because he failed to perform a manoeuvre doesn't mean he is going to go to jail over it. Otherwise, do you know how many troops would be in jail for damaging millions of dollars worth of equipment? A guy dented an engine in my dad's shop last year with a fork lift. He's not getting dishonorably discharged. No jail time. Yeah, he'll get chewed out bad and have some serious consequences for it but they aren't going to ruin his life over a mistake. It costs the country a TON of money but putting them in jail over an accident (Of course there is a HUGE investigation) is a stupid assumption. I've met pilots. Some of my friends are pilots for the air force. NONE of them would do this. Pilots are officers and officers don't play around. Everybody has this assumption that everybody in the military screws around once they get out of BMT but that's not true. It's a lot of work and a little play most of the time. And even if somehow Enlisted were able to be pilots crap like this would not happen. They go through more rigorous training than commercial pilots.

He will get in trouble over this but he won't go to jail. However, if he tried to do a little stunt just for kicks and because of that he crashed, he's fully responsible for destroying 14mil of equipment and he's gonna be in deep shit. Now I don't know which is it, but if I had to guess I'd go for the second option. They were out of combat and they weren't training, I don't see a reason for making maneuvers like this. There are fuck ups and there is playing with things that shouldn't be played with and breaking them.
Density & oxygen levels are two different things bro.
Both air density and oxygen gets less dense at altitude
Density & oxygen levels are two different things bro.
Oxygen levels don't matter when there's simply not enough air for the rotors to push off of.
Density & oxygen levels are two different things bro.
Why do you think there's lower oxygen levels? Because the air is less dense.
Either I misquoted, or Facepunch knows more about helicopters than a 12 year special forces pilot. [sp]I probably misqouted[/sp]
Either I misquoted, or Facepunch knows more about helicopters than a 12 year special forces pilot. [sp]I probably misqouted[/sp]
Air gets thin at high altitude... That's just how it is.
The U.S. military is investigating whether an attack helicopter pilot was “showing off” when he made a low pass over a remote Afghan outpost and then slammed violently into the ground, according to a defense official. ... There was no enemy activity in the area and multiple military experts said it’s possible the pilot was performing the dangerous maneuver for the benefit of the spectators on the ground.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/03/military-investigates-showboating-in-copter-crash/ Stop acting like malfunctions cause a helicopter to do things like that.
like I said he was showing off and fucked
