uh okay that hypothetical situation makes all kinds of... nonsense
Makes more sense than your crap spewing.
3 shots is standard technique. It is called the double tap. Two in the center of mass, and one elevated shot to make sure the threat is gone. It is a wonder there weren't more shots fired, usually there are reports of cops doing an entire mag dump. SWAT teams have more training and work in high crime areas. Do you think that the SWAT team was called in on this one because someone's poodle crapped on their neighbor's grass? No! SWAT teams are called in when it is a high danger situation.

:downs:
More like:
"Oh shit this guy is armed and could endanger our lives, I'm making the decision to eliminate the threat."

They do not take stock in what they are wearing when someone is a threat and your adrenaline spikes and the fight or flight response kicks in. And, if you notice, the call for him to get on the ground sounded like it came from behind the point man, so it was probably an officer that did not see the status of the subject.
Chunkymonkey, I might be looking a bit dickey for that, but that's not because you say it that it's the absolute truth everybody should respect and believe in. This is not a forum for nothing.
And I won't respect a single line of yours as long as you call other people's opinion crap spewing.

Because I said that to one guy?
Do as you please, it doesn't make you right.
Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with US police forces? First they shoot a deaf guy on the street in 5 seconds wielding a CLOSED knife.. Now this.
The world is going to hell.
The fact that we're already debating the reaction times of both parties aside, are you saying they should have rushed into melee distance because he was holding a melee weapon?
Yes. If a team of people RUSHES a person with a weapon, there may be a minor injury, but no on dead. You don't walk into range obviously. But rushing in this instance would work.

How DARE they make mistakes! I know, lets fire every cop in the world and see how that goes.
If I ever go to the united states, I'd better keep my hands out of my pockets and avoid holding any possible object that look like a gun (which means all dark colored objects).
That's a huge exaggeration. I don't see many incidents like this happening often.
I love how people who hate America so much nitpick for things that they can say against them. This doesn't show anything about the entire country, just whoever shot him. Plus, it's not the SWAT teams fault. The man could EASILY have heard the police barging in and yelling for him to get down, he has no excuse. Usually if it were a burglar, he'd just come in with a gun and shoot him, or try to sneak in. If I heard the police I would put my hands up.

Weird enough these things never happen in other countries. When mistakes happen they rarely involve man death and are often way more punished that in the US.

Oh really? You keep tabs on the police force of every country in the world?
How DARE they be miseducated! I know, lets fire every cop in the US and see how that goes.
Fixed.

Well as far as I know there isn't whole documentaries about cops shooting people because they are holding wallets and shit in other countries than the US.
If there are enough accident to allow people to make documentaries or even reportages about it, you know there is a problem.
It's good to see discussion, but everyone seems to be caught up in the issue of who can shoot whom and when.
That's hardly the crux of the matter. Yes, there was a raid/home invasion or whatever you want to call it. Yes, a subject appeared suddenly. Yes, shots were fired. Yes, a man died. Those are the facts.
What else happened: Why were they invading a private citizen's home? Was it really for drugs as purported? Were drugs found? Was anything illegal discovered? Was anything taken, confiscated or destroyed? If this was truly over drugs, then we can dive into the topic of the drug war in general.
The actual situation may have been similar to this:

What is an isolated incident in a nation having a population of 300+ million? Only 10 instances? 100? 1000? 10000? Even 300,000 occurrences would be one tenth of one percent - the average population of many cities. How many households will this have to happen to?
A police state situation is endemic to a leadership that is dissociated from its constituency and reaching for complete control. It is a symptom of system problems, usually the kind that have eroded the structural support of a nation to the point that the governing body considers everything under its jurisdiction as its property. This has historically ended in failure every single time. There has never been a government that has succeeded in subjugating its population.
For anyone interested in the greater picture, I strongly recommend these resources (which I wish I'd had years ago) as being far more valid than alarmist:

In summary, bankers and politicians are incapable of doing anything other than shuffling other people's assets around while skimming from the top. This leads to an inherently self-destructive organization wherein the population is bled dry in order to feed the increasing desires of those whom have made it into power. That is unsustainable.
Understanding the "leadership's" motivation and thought processes provides a means to resist and/or thrive, whether that is within the system or by leaving it.
If you are younger than 25, you may want to reconsider your ideals. They may be optimistic and progressive, but reality doesn't care when fools are running the show. Use your head and think things through without resorting to emotional responses. Keep in mind that trying to save others when you can't save yourself is a futile effort that will cause all to fail.
A man dying in his own home is nothing short of state-sanctioned murder, regardless of reason. Please make use of the information to protect yourselves and strive for a better future than one dominated by incompetence.

wow do you really have to be such a condescending prick
wow do you really have to be such a condescending prick
I think that's his only way of defending his opinion. Bludgeoning other people into submission with insults.

Says the guy who earlier called me a fucking moron.

there's a difference between outright insulting somebody and being condescending

Come up with some better arguments other that "HURR THIS TOTALLY DOESN'T 100% HAPPEN ANYWHERE BUT THE UNITED STATES" I've already defended my position successfully which is more than I can say for you.

Congratulations, you are a dick.

His comment was very generalized and therefore stupid. I simply called him on it. Deal with it.
Fixed.
No. The cop isn't a complete moron for making one mistake.
Congratulations, you are a dick.
"someone just made a good point, what a dick!"
Congratulations, you are a dick.
I'm devastated by this news. You've torn me asunder.
Golf Guy charges in the room at 0:26. He should have got on the ground when he heard them yelling "search warrant".
After a while of getting shot at a milisecond after you come in the door you tend to get triggerhappy.
Oh really? You keep tabs on the police force of every country in the world?
The point is that this is much more common in the US. You won't see cops busting through doors in Europe, gunning people down(and thank God for that).
The point is that this is much more common in the US. You won't see cops busting through doors in Europe, gunning people down(and thank God for that).
Huh, you ready to bet on that.
Huh, you ready to bet on that.
Stop being like that, seriously. You got his point, don't act like you can't read a line and understand it.
Also, don't find it shocking or stupid that people don't take any care of your statesment if you are showing no respect to other. Even when you are making a good point it looks like you are obsessed with insulting the other one or being a jerk and that ruins all your possible credibility.
