A game does not change lifes. It might inspire yes, but it will just reach out to what is already in someone but perhaps didn't know. Might make you think, I know for a fact several games have done this for me(deus ex for example and recently dishonored) but I never think a game can really CHANGE your life in it whole. But if it makes you feel better, then go ahead I don't need to judge someone's belief in something like this(or religion for that matter).
That doesn't make any sense. The fact that it inspires you in anyway means that it did change your life. Every little moment, idea, or lesson you learn in life from others whether it be through an art form or not does shift how you think about life and causes you to make changes.

I was too lazy to actually play the game (plus I don't have a PS3) so I just watched all of the cut-scenes strung together on YouTube (same as I do with most good games I can't get) Just seeing the cut-scenes as a movie was very good, made me think that it could've been released on its own as a movie and been pretty decent.
Ow, edge.
Yes, as opposed to ~so deep~
Some of you all need to be able to look at games as art
Cool story, except game design is what I do, and "fuck you, got mine: the game" isn't art. It's a commercially incentivized product with very linear and obvious gameplay triggers which are glazed over by hiring good VAs and level design designed to hide how linear the play-space is. The fact it has MP bolted on should be a pretty obvious clue, but by all means continue to proselytize about how much (completely artificial) depth it has, when the context between gameplay and story is almost completely absent and even contradictory in at least two spots in the game.

It's more likely what you hope to be doing, so for that I'd recommend a more open mind. As a game designer your job is to make something good, make something work, and if you say that something is inherently bad and can't work, then you limit your creativity and end up as a worse game designer. [editline]26th December 2013[/editline] Oh, and those two spots you talk of? Name them. No one will believe you until you do, other than those already convinced that TLOU is a bad game.
I can't be the only one who thinks this is just overhyping the game way more than it deserves... Its hardly a bad game, but he's giving it an obscene amount of praise and saying it changed your life is a bit ridiculous.
I played it a single time and it was more than enough I wasn't emotionally invested in the characters and it I sure as hell didn't find it moving it was one of the best games this year and that's it [editline]26th December 2013[/editline] game of the decade what a fucking joke
I don't understand, what does it matter if it's a video game? I imagine Metal Gear Solid 2 certainly changed some people's ways. It did me.
Baby's first inspirational quotes changed your life lol
what a nerd
