They are mostly an illusion. They are giant PR campaigns with little to no substance politically. Obama and Romney both ignored the impending ecological disaster while arguing over who was going to raise the military spending more, for example. Both Obama and Romney argued over who was best friends with Israel as well. I mean, these guys are disagreeing over how fast we should be heading towards disaster and war.
Plus the money in politics takes away any actual choice. Our choices are limited to whoever the financial institutions will allow to run because in order to have any chance you have to have a certain amount of financial backing and corporate media coverage. This means that no matter who you vote for, you are voting for someone who plays ball for corporate America, not someone who necessarily cares to improve the life of most Americans.

I'm not a Marxist, specifically. Marx was wrong about a lot of things, but I think he is spot on regarding elections; at the very least, American elections.
She's only upset because all her parents ever watch, listen to or talk about is the election. Either that or she's just an annoying fat kid craving attention.

And your point is? Example: She isn't allowed to watch her cartoons because her parents watch politics all day. I think you'd be upset if your parents didn't allow you to watch porn in your bedroom anymore because they want to stream my little pony.
