"Punch a Nazi" (ft. Rucka Rucka Ali) - Social Justice: The Musical
I don't think that's comparable? There's a difference between finding general similarities among the population and claiming "All of these people think this way". And I said in that very post that I understand jokes use it for comedy. I didn't claim that I dislike generalization. Just this video.
Who is making that claim, though? The video doesn't. It's specifically ridiculing people who do that sort of stuff.

On the other hand, let's not pretend that this calling of, or comparing, people to a Nazi/Hitler hasn't been pretty commonplace. Bush was compared to Hitler ALL THE TIME by everyone from famous celebrities to high level politicians. It goes all the way back to FDR, who compared the Republican running against him to Hitler.
For example, Keith Ellison, the guy who democrats love and want to lead their party, said that 9/11 was like the Reichstag Fire, and that Bush was comparable to Hitler in the situation.

"I'll defy the Klan and all who call me dumb are Nazis"
Isn't the entire video poking fun at SJWs? As in the title of the video? And again I'm being told about something I never said. Nowhere did I say that comparing people to a Nazi isn't commonplace. I said that I found the video dumb because it's just generalizing a group of people. Others may find the video funny but I don't really care for it.

Are you saying that it's falsely generalizing SWJs?
Are you saying that it's falsely generalizing SWJs?
Yes
Are you saying that it's falsely generalizing SWJs?
I'm saying generalizing is stupid. When some people that are involved in a group do something, it doesn't mean every single one of them do the same thing. That applies to any group ever. So when the video is saying "I call everyone a Nazi that doesn't agree with me" I think it's silly because not all of them do that. But again, it's a joke video, so yeah. Exaggerating about what they do is understandable.
To expand a bit, I disliked it more because it's kind of just going "Haha these people act this way" with no other jokes than that. So I found it unfunny.

So... previously you said:

Do you think this video was claiming that every single person who fits under the vague term "SJW" thinks exactly like the video displayed? It seemed pretty clear to me that they were targeting a very specific type of person.

Yes, I feel like it was doing that.
I remember listening to Rucka's stuff back in '08. Seems like 12 year olds are still his target demographic
...It's like you didn't listen to the song at all and just saw the words "Rucka Rucka Ali" and proceeded to shitpost.
His part was so miniscule that it wasn't even worth mentioning. The majority seems to be sung by whoever of the owner of the channel and it's actually quite a clever portrayal of SJW mentality.
Did any of you even listen to the song/know anything about Chris Ray Gun except for a few images of cherry picked tweets/clips?
The song is saying its not okay to punch people who you politically disagree with. That and everyone is being called a Nazi nowadays, since they don't agree with everything that person does. I've been called it multiple times, even by some people on this forum. Hell, I've been even called an SJW by a few people (not here, mostly anon-boards like 4chan and 8chan)
Yes, I do know that those were on the internet, but that mob mentally and that people are being more aggressive at political rallies and protests, that people on both sides are getting more comfortable with acting how they truly think.
it's only a parody and being offended over it makes you look like an idiot
As if Rucka Rucka Ali has ever been tasteful like ever
I remember thinking this guy was funny in 7th grade and he totally slipped under the radar. good to see his racism adapted with the nuances of the past decade!
Man... people actually think parody songs are funny?

Did both of you actually watch the video or read the thread? in the same damn page people were mentioning that the only thing RRA did in this video is lend his voice. The lyrics are done by Chris Ray Gun and the rest of the song had help from 4+ people.
making something insulting people for being offense-prone and then pointing at them when they get offended is just a self fulfilling prophecy
i don't necessarily agree or disagree with the meaning of the video but like how else do you expect people to react

lmao please explain what about this is clever
remember when we fought nazis so hard in ww2 that we actually became nazis
There's a mighty big concentration of boxes in this thread!

I normally don't retort when someone's immediate response to a differing opinion is to laugh about it like I'm stupid for having said opinion. That usually tells me you don't have an actual counter-argument. However, I will gladly share my viewpoint because I actually have one.
The parody not only encapsulated the mentality SJWs have perfectly, but also provided commentary on how they're practically Nazis as well. The lyrics make it sound so extreme to the point it's cartoonish but if you indulge yourself in watching beautifully stunning train wrecks, as much as I do, you'll see this is 100% down to the T. And it's not just the opinions either. These things are actually happening. SJWs are seriously going around berating white people despite the fact a good chunk of them are white. They go around destroying property, punching people, etc all under the guise of "progressive, liberal thinking." It also takes a brief moment to highlight how the meaning of such a strong word, like Nazi, has lost of its power in favor of being a buzzword these idiots throw around when they disagree with (normal) people.
Why do I think it's clever? Because it's doing so while keeping itself 100% in beat and rhythm to Lady Gaga's Paparazzi. That's not easy to do. Not with any parody of any song. This guy could have literally done a song calling these people nothing but fucking retarded faggots and make it as pointless as the song it's based on. He refused in favor of all the points mentioned above.
I also like how the song is through the perspective of an SJW person as it subtly hints at several points of self-realization that SJWs will never face because they're too far gone to notice they have become the very thing they hate.
If SJW are Nazis they are very bad at it. Everyone I've met that is into social justice have been more about bringing up marginalized people rather than putting white people down.
and this video is just conflating "SJWs" with antifa, which yeah might have some overlap but I don't think antifa are nazis or fascists either, just violent.

But they don't all do that and they're not all like that. Just because there are loud extreme people doesn't mean the entire group is the same. That goes with every group as well, not just this.

Would be nice if the majority condemned them/publicly stood off from the group then instead of these guys being a mainstay of any counter-protest now.

Precisely why this is directed at SJWs.

I live in an ultra-progressive city, and even though it's a little rare, I've definitely had my opinions or input on certain topics aggressively shut down because I'm a white male. I've lived a lot of places but here I have to be very careful of any thing I say, or you can risk a witch hunt that will cost you your job or social media account. A gay bar that tried to open here was also aggressively protested by the trans community over some crazy perceived offense, the college is having these weird white privilege mandatory lectures, and BLM has openly vandalized property and vehicles.
I'm far from being right wing, conservative, or a Trump supporter, but walking on eggshells your whole social life because people are turbo vigilant about wording and perceived offenses get exhausting.
It's like being chill about different races, cultures, and sexualities isn't enough, you have to actively be fighting the system in any way possible to be thought of as progressive.

I don't understand. It's directed at SJWs because they don't all act this way?
I don't understand. It's directed at SJWs because they don't all act this way?
No, SJWs are that minority that act the way this video portrays them to be. /All/ of them are this bad. That's why they are SJWs.

Do you not see the irony in saying this in a video that makes fun of SJWs calling everyone Nazis? Like you're doing the exact same thing, saying everyone is the same way.
