I read about this a few months ago, there's supposed to be an early Android powered version available by the end of the year for ~$500.
This and the self-driving car. I welcome our new Google overlords with open arms. As long as they make it look less retarded.
yeah lets let google take over our lives becaue they are fucking awesome :v:
GARRUS VISORS!
ooo look at me i'm playing a ukulele on a building what a bellend
He's just playing a fucking Ukulele. Why do you care?
Always wanted a hud, would be cool, but needs to be talk-free
The camera feature might be cool, the rest of it is just a little silly.
If it had a small phone sized controller that I can use to control it I would love this. I don't want to have to talk to make it do shit though.
I'm confused. How can a tiny little cuboid of glass create a HUD over your entire view?
It doesn't really look like the video. Why would they make something that obstructs the center of your vision?
Damn I wish I had the same sandwich as that guy goddamn it looks delicious, i've never eaten a sandwich like that.
It's a pretty cool idea, but I think I'd rather stick to getting info on my smartphone when I want to. I don't really feel like walking over the street and getting info popups all the time.
I have to agree with this. It seems like a neat idea, but i think it's just another one of those "THE WORLD OF TOMORROW!" gadgets people are always making concepts of to make life "easier". A smartphone does everything this thing does and if such a thing as this were ever released to the public i don't think anyone would use it like you see it being used here. You always see smartphones advertised like this, but everyone know you're not traversing Soho New York making digital reminders to buy tickets to some little known band, checking up on where your friend is, checking the weather orplanning things on your calender; you're just in the bathroom playing angry birds on your phone.
All those pop ups and notifications would get extremely annoying. You'd become a slave to your glasses.
All those pop ups and notifications would get extremely annoying. You'd become a slave to your glasses.
Or you could just take them off.
I wonder if you could watch porn on them, I would and I would stare at people whilst doing it.
Looks like I'll have to replace my regular glasses with contact lenses
That design is awesome.
When this comes out, someone should make a Deus Ex: Human Revolution theme for it. Assuming that would be possible.
When this comes out, someone should make a Deus Ex: Human Revolution theme for it. Assuming that would be possible.
I wouldn't buy anything like these unless it was on a fairly open platform.
I want this. I want this so fucking much.
I would like this kind of technology in a watch, not glasses though. Like, if I had a watch that had GPS, voice recognition, internet browsing, mp3 playing, and a camera, I'd pay for that. Also, I think it should come with wireless earbuds.
I don't think getting everyone to wear glasses that have a camera in it is a good idea. There should be more than just a moral choice between a company and being able to see exactly what you're seeing. Stuff like that shouldn't be trusted to anyone. Not even a reasonably reputable company like Google.
Oh god you'd look like a total tool wearing these
I dunno, I've seen way worse concepts.
You'd look a right knob walking about talking to yourself like that.
Considering the tech, I'm willing to look like an idiot. Gimmicky now, but the value of having what's basically a HUD cannot be understated. [editline]4th April 2012[/editline] I hope these can network with Android/smart phones in general to increase functionality, that'd be awesome.
Obligatory: My vision is augmented. Seriously: Who's going to wear these? Isn't it going to cause eye strain focusing on that screen, or does that project an overlay over your glasses? Shit like this needs to be discreet. Plus, you can't walk around using it, I mean say you're browsing FP on it, you can't just say "open furry porn megathread" in front of everyone around you.
Do you normally search for furry porn in public?
Do you normally search for furry porn in public?
who doesn't? v:v:v
I can imagine a world of people looking up and spinning around trying to browse the menu :v:
Gonna be annoying when everyone is getting hit by cars, too distracted to give a shit. Probably gonna cost a ton so only the rich people will get killed, though.
What about us people who don't need to wear glasses :(
Sucks for you, Shouldn't have called us 4 eyes all those years, Now we reap the rewards! [editline]5th April 2012[/editline]
I'm confused. How can a tiny little cuboid of glass create a HUD over your entire view?
You look in it, the image is made to look like it's being projected 20 or so feet in front of you. Much like an Eotech Holosight or the HUD in a Jet. It's cool shit, and it allows you to see it just fine without having to focus on it like you would a book
They say that art imitates life. Here we see an example of life imitating art. Life is becoming more like a video game every day. And if it helps make people's lives easier, then I welcome it. Also I wouldn't mind having something like this on your wrist instead, like a pip-boy.
