Why did the scorpion die? It looked like the hornet crawled over it repeatedly but I couldn't see how it did enough to kill it

It's very hard for bugs to die like that without limb loss, it was most likely overheated.
Most bugs usually die from overheating actually, unless it's a clear fatal wound
I immediately thought of Mushiking, which was an old arcade game my friends and I played every three months or so. I think I still have some of the cards lying around.

That blue thing looks more like a crayfish, rather than a bug.

I used to have this great video where one beetle fucking half-suplexes another beetle, throwing over its back and then immediately getting up on its hind legs and doing a victory screech while dramatic music played. I wish I could find that.

I remember going to this arcade in Dallas or Fort Worth several years ago on some trip and they had this imported Japanese machine, where you'd get these "insect warrior" playing cards with barcodes on them, and then you'd stick it into the machine and it'd scan it and battle your insect with whoever put their card into the other player slot, or against a computer. Guess it's based on this stuff. We were up there for like three days and it became a big thing between all the guys, trying to get the best bugs.
