I never thought I'd see the day.
Welp, that was tubular.
The animator at 15:18 was probably my favorite, cracked me up.
Holy god the detail on some of these animations are terrific, like Jason Perdue & Allen Pyror's were perfect.

I dread watching this after Chris went on a three day rant on Twitter bitching about the game.
I don't wanna watch another series that's just someone complaining about a game for arbitrary reasons instead of just saying they don't like it and moving on.
Already getting flashbacks to the horrendous Ding Dong and Julian NitW playthrough that was literally just a marathon stream of complaining about the game doing things that
they don't like while still playing it.
Yeah, I'm definitely gonna skip this one. Oney's complaints were valid but his whole attitude about the game was "I don't like this AND YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER" which is just annoying when you spend three days ranting about it on Twitter.
Like c'mon, if something is getting almost universal appraise from the people playing it, surely it has some redeemable qualities. You're more than welcome to your opinion about it and to dislike it, but acting like it's actually shit just because it doesn't meet your tastes is just being a contrarian.
i haven't heard of the twitter rant but he seemed same as usual in this video
they make fun of the game as always but none of it came off as actually critical or mean spirited or anything
Ah, good, I'll probably give it a watch then.
To TL;DR the Twitter rant, he could have said he didn't like the direction of the game in one post but instead went on a three day rant and pretty much said that if you enjoy the game you're
a part of the problem.
It was uncharacteristically mean spirited and shitty of him from start to end.
Oh you mean Chris "Uncharted is a bad series" O'Neill? I really don't take any of their gaming opinions seriously. Feel free to dislike things that I like, but not for completely bullshit reasons. Julian basically making shit up about RE7 was the dumbest.
first couple of minutes this game has already done my top 2 most hated things "big developers" think they can pull off in an interactive medium
I completely missed Chris' twitter rant but already i can't blame him
Like I said earlier, his complaints are valid, he was just putting them forward in a really annoying way.
His complaints about Uncharted actually apply to GoW as well, though to a much smaller degree imo. In Uncharted you have this awesome cutscene, then you go through a "gameplay hallway" that's usually repetive and consists of climbing things and shooting guys and not much else, then you get to another awesome cutscene. Tl;dr makes a better movie than a game because the game portions are boring and repetitive.
You can apply the same logic to GoW, which is what Chris is doing. The difference for most people is that the gameplay is a lot more enjoyable and the story is better spread out/paced than in Uncharted.
But the combat in GoW is still fun. Its not so combo DMC oriented like the originals, but they added more pow to the hits and impacts. Wailing on an enemy with your fists is satisfying, same with throwing the axe around or slicing people in half with power attacks. To me it pulled an DOOM 2016 with the E3 looking bland and garbage, but the gameplay's pacing is much better, and the characters are great. Even the kid is a good character, and i normally hate children characters in movies/games.
I mean honestly its the same thing as the earlier games, just different camera angles and a better narrative. All you did in GOW 1-3 was go through set piece to set piece and kill badies while solving puzzles or watching cutscenes. Its not as over the top, but that not a bad thing, just a change in structure.
I guess my main complaint is lack of enemy variety in the early game. The elves in Alfheim really aren't that much different from the zombie things in the first area
They were totally justified in their distaste for NitW though. It was every "here's a bunch of unlikeable characters HAHA WAFFLE EPIC MUFFIN LE FUNNY BAD GRAMMER SO AWKWARD!!1!" cliche in the book before it just takes a hard right turn at the very end and goes all "man fuck the working class, why can't you be ~enlightened shoplifters with art degrees~???"
The art style is fabulous but man that game had some of the worst writing this side of David Cage. Given the kind of stuff DD and Julian are into (and the kind of stuff they make), it makes total sense why they'd go out of their way to check it out, even considering how much they ended up disliking it.
Guy in the OP wasn't even defending NitW as a good game tho. He was pointing out that the stream was bad because they weren't enjoying the game and just shitting on it the entire stream. That can be annoying regardless of how you feel about the game.
Game Grumps' Sonic 06 playthrough and the Best Friends' Omikron playthrough were because the game was so bad it was sending them into a comical level of rage and disgusting. That NitW stream just felt like "Ugh. This is so bad. Ugh, why are we playing this."
Yeah, that was the only rant tweet I caught from the storm and it still managed to put really sour taste in my mouth.
One minute in and I'm already wholeheartedly laughing. I missed these goons.
"I'm glad we're playing this on the actual console."
Ding Dong says as a mouse cursor floats across the screen
I missed the boys so much ; ;
I've tried to enjoy these new episodes but as soon as the boys came back I lit up, there's no replacing the holy trinity of irish bigfoot, the one-eyed mexican diaperfur and dangle dick
I hope they stay for a bit.
I actually really enjoyed the episodes with Niall and Zach.
Reminded me a lot of Sleepycabin and the occasional streams they'd do. I really hope they keep coming back every now and then for appearances.
Different strokes for different folks. I liked it because i've lived/live in an area that is exactly like possum springs. Don't know exactly where you got the working class thing, the only time they mocked people were old conservative "things used to be great, this generation is shit, why can't we go back to the good old days". And That's because possum springs is a very old southern/midwest town that is becoming a ghost town due to their factory shutting down and no business coming in. The mystery was shit, but I enjoyed all the side characters and their backgrounds. The "enlighten shoplifting" is dumb and completely wrong. The only reason the main character wanted to shop lift was because she was with her other friend who was depressed, and she wanted to relive the stupid shit they used to do as early teens (which they went back and returned the 5$ belt buckle afterwards). That was the entire point of the chapter. No one talked about having art degrees or other easy "hurr tumblrinas and their dumb ideas" targets. The only tumblry thing was the insults/slang.
The writing is great, they have random outbursts/mocks, but the main 4 characters change over time as you learn each is more than their stereotypical personality. Bea is a bitch, seems like a bitch entirely, till you realize shes just cold to Mae (the main character) because she wanted to go to college, had the grades to go to college, but her mother passed away. Which made her help her alcoholic and abusive dad's hardware shop instead of going out to do something she wanted to do outside the failing town. Add onto the fact that mae had a free ride to college, squandered it, and didn't even check up on Bea when her mother died, adds salt to the wound. Which by the end of the game, she forgives mae and they become friends again. There's Mae who is just a typical millennial and takes no responsibility for her fuckups. But then you learn actually has a disorder, which caused her to beat a boy at a soft ball game senseless with a baseball bat when she was mocked. That caused the entire town to talk about her (because again, its a small town) and she had issues because of the two. Just like most people her and my age, shes stumbling into adulthood and doesn't know what to do with the rest of her life. Shes left leaning, and mostly jokes about anarchy and taking down fascists. And there's Gregg who's a rebel and anarchy supporter (mostly just joking and mocking big businesses who have taken over possum springs). But puts on a lovable funny attitude because he suffers from depression/bipolar of a certain degree and doesn't want to bring his friends down. All the main characters and partial side characters are like this. To write them off as one dimensional static characters who spout memes is just wrong and shows people took other's views at face value, or didn't try the game.
I honestly think DD and kinda Julian went in wanting to hate it, and they played the entire game in one sitting without taking time to talk to everyone once a day to get new dialogue/minigames to flesh the characters out.
