Like you said, different strokes. Honestly the only character I liked was Bea; everyone else had baggage, but it didn't endear them enough to me to justify how unlikeable/annoying they were. It just felt tacked on ("oh you think this character is annoying? Well joke's on you they have mental illness/family troubles/etc so now they're deep and likeable") and she was the only one who actually felt like a multi-faceted person. There was just a lot of telling for my tastes, and the whole quirky/Tumblr style of humor ("doing crimes") makes me cringe like no other. Just not my cup of tea, but then that's probably why I liked the DD and Julian stream V:v:V

The thing with Chris and the new God of War is a problem i've been seeing with a number of youtubers, critics, and some people in general. Im completely fine if you dont like a game and are wanting to criticize it, but if you're being a total jackass about it and just shitting on it for the sake of shitting on it. Then piss off.

Exactly. If he said he didn't like it and why in one post it would have been totally cool. But he took the time to repeatedly shit on it, say that people that like it are a problem, and then go in some weird soy boy direction with it.

One thing I don't get is why they even bothered to play the whole game if they hated it. If you hate it fine, but DD and Julian made themselves finish the entire game while (from what I know) only shitting on it and occasionally saying "the art style is the only good thing about it". If you're playing something you don't even like then why do you decide to finish it in the first place?

Thank fuck DD and Julian are back even if so far we got the one video. It really isnt oneyplays without them, in my opinion.

I didn't intend on posting anything else, I just wanted to bring some attention to it since I wouldn't exactly call the JonTron drama "pointless". It's had a pretty massive impact, to the point of the GG saying he's not allowed on the show anymore because of it. Just worried something similar might happen with Chris since it's taking a similar direction.

while i like the new kratos it's understandable when people get upset that a new entry into a series they like isn't what the series used to be not saying dad of war is bad by any means because it's not, but i definitely understand why people are upset about the sudden change in direction in character, tone and gameplay

No it's kind of unreasonable actually. God of War had a complete trilogy with a pretty definitive ending. It was either God of War 4 as it is now or no new game at all, and considering the praise the game is getting I think Sony made the right choice.

I think I just had an epiphany and realized that the whole reason GG got so boring was that they tried moving from one-offing shitty and weird games to seriously playing substantial games, and Arin just literally cannot comprehend game mechanics that aren't basic platforming like running, jumping, and sometimes maybe something crazy like a wall jump. My favorite is when he says it's the games fault too after he spent thirty minutes screeching like a monkey over the tutorials.

im glad that none of the oneys are terrible at videogames, and even if they were they aren't playing them to completion anyway which makes it not frustrating to watch

Arin being bad isn't even the worst part; it's that he goes on his little rants and Danny (who is also not paying attention to the game) just lets him do it. Arin straight up said in the MegaMan X LP that he does that shit on purpose because he thinks it's funny when really it's just super, super annoying. Back in ye olde days, most of the time Jon would just tell him to shut the fuck up, or they would actually have an interesting conversation about game mechanics/design rather than Arin just screeching about how much he hates things.

If I had to guess, at least now they don't have to put up with "yeah but you didn't even play the whole game". They finished it, they didn't like it, and now they never have to talk about it again (which even I think is preferable to the alternative). I think the new GoW looks really cool, but I can totally get how someone can look at this new game ("Remember that guy who processed his grief by fucking an entire harem while punching Zeus in the face? Well he's going to have ~real emotions~ now") and find the idea of it totally laughable (especially with game journalists tossing the whole "toxic masculinity" meme around). The original God of War was so completely absurd, this new one is like if they said they were making a new Doom or Duke Nukem with the tone of The Last of Us. God of War just happened to work out, though.

Maybe I'm just projecting but I don't think he's actually that mad that the game shifted tones, he's just upset that it shifted to a genre that's pretty over saturated nowadays and will probably encourage other big franchises to continue the cinematic game trend.

Instead of making cutscenes be a part where all you do is hold the stick forward why not just make a good cutscene the way it should be. I understand his annoyance especially since it apparently was one of his favorite games.-
