I like this review because it's one of his few that I can agree with.
Uhm, I don't think any of the main characters in FF13 (or in FF8, FF9, FF10 and FF12) have spiky hair.
Annoying perfectly applies to Hope and Vanille though. In fact when Vanille starts talking I usually turn off my speakers and read the subtitles.
Oh, really now?
I liked it aside from the blatant promotion of this new gamer bar thing he's opened.
I love your avatar, so much god damn nostalgia.

It's like he has a fucking hair boner.
also, I don't know who this faggot is:

But I feel like punching him in the face for having hair like that. If only his face was real.
He did say FF8 to 12. Not FF7.
if 13 was more like the openess of 12 I would have loved it
He'd give it an awful review just because 1) It's anime style and 2) He only has so much time to review a game and he wouldn't even make it to any battles by the time his several hours to do so run out.
If he had more time he'd certainly be able to give many games much better reviews, but he still does great with most other games.
I don't think anyone wants to play a game for several hours to get to the GOOD PART.
The only JRPGs I've ever liked were Earthbound and Pokemon.
Brilliant episode, well done.
This guy is right, the last good Final Fantasy game was 6.
7 is OK, but it could have been better if the characters were more likeble and the fanbase didn't have the brainpower of a rock with ADHD.
Final Fantasy 8 was the real ball kicker with it's downright annoying characters, gay and emo undertones, awful combat system, and plot.
And I still have nightmares over Robin Williams lookalike Cid.
final fantasy MMCVXII now with added gayboys
I couldn't stop thinking about how every character is either A, A douchebag.
Or B, a portrait of a girl that is nowhere near and screams and walks with weird legs and cant stand up right because she has to do a constant emopose and she cries for no reason and she makes sense out of things not possible to make sense of!
There.
That is the reason I will never play FFXIII, I will however play FFXIV

None of those are spiky.
This is spiky:

The hair actually rises up into the air as spikes.
In other FFs they just stick together at the tip of the hair, but they don't go upwards like spikes. In fact, that's just dirty hair when you don't shower (because the grease makes the tips of the hairs stick together).
Yes they are technically spiky, but whenever someone says "FF is full of spiky haired teenage boys" they mean hair like Cloud's (as shown by Yahtzees cartoons in this review, the spikes go right up into the air).

Also, ZP may not be that great of a reviewer since he mostly focuses on the bad parts, but damn he does point out most of the issues in nearly any game.
No I think they mean the art style of rendering hair as a series of spiky looking wisps of hair. Whether or not they are suspended by ungodly amounts of hair gel is another story. (Or magic, somehow this sounds more likely.)

Oh yeah, I just realized the one I posted was FF7, not FF8. Regardless, everyone has emo hair.

Aside from the part where the few hours is still decently interesting if you care about the story.
Do people REALLY find this game as hard and confusing as all the complaining and pictures tell?
It has clear tutorials about the system and controls at the beginning, are people just skipping them?
FF13: as a JRPG alone its alright/mediocre but as a Final Fantasy its fucking appalling, here's hoping versus 13 is going to be infinitely better than this.
This. This. Fucking this. Where's the exploration? Where's the side quests? Where's the fucking towns?
Anyone else always have trouble connecting to The Escapist?
This. This. Fucking this. Where's the exploration? Where's the side quests? Where's the fucking towns?
Side quests are like 20 hours into the game.
Yea, it takes that long.
Plus, Yatzhee went into the game knowing he was going to hate it. Its a JRPG. He hates all JRPGS.
You know what also grinds my gears about the new Final Fantasy games, everyone looks like some weird real-life anime character. I know the games come from Japan, but good god, the older games didn't have much of it if at all.

I just hit chapter 10, which is around 20 hours, so I guess I'm close. That still leaves out exploration though.
Anyone else always have trouble connecting to The Escapist?
Yeah, the page was blank for about 5 minutes, but once the video showed up it loaded really fast, so it's not my connection.

I'm going to take a stab and say that's largely because of 16 bit graphics.
It's a JRPG, not surprised he didn't like it.
And was anyone else shocked that FF13 pretty much only has 1 androgynous character?
Has he ever liked a game? Not that I've watched all the episodes, but out of the ones I've watched he always makes fun of them. It's more of an entertainment thing rather than a recommendation. Or so some people say.

He does it just for entertainment
He does give out good reviews occasionally arkham asylum, COD4, saints row 2, etc
Am i the only one in this thread that likes FF13? I mean seriously the characters become much more likable later on in the game when you find out about all the shit that's going on with them.
The only Final Fantasy game I liked was FF9.
I played FF7 and it was... bad.
