It would also be awesome to have one of these as panorama screens while playing first person shooters.
Oh yeah, that's actually a good use.
Too bad the price will be horrible.
Don't say that, I've heard the pricing on the materials for these screens aren't that bad. The problem is the production methods involved. Lately I read an article about someone developing a production technique printing "OLED" screens, somewhat inspired by the way newspapers are produced.
Cool idea this might be used for:
You have a sphere made up of this screen material.
You can you stand inside.
Virtual reality?
It doesn't even look like he's hitting the OLED with the hammer when the video's playing.
Shadows weren't enabled.
did anyone else cringe when the guy grabbed the actual screen and bent it? I had my palm on my lcd tv before and i applied a tab too much pressure and it left some awful discoloration there for about 10 minutes D:
PROGRESS, last time I heard about OLED they still had some major problems with dead pixels.
Win.
Now make newspapers with it and I'll consider reading the news once in a while.
Think about it.
You have a newspaper but it's the size of an A4, uses solar power and it gets the latest news with an Internet-connection.
I can see this being used so much in the future. :buddy:
What would you do with a flexible screen anyway? The only good/handy thing I see coming out off this is that if you drop it, it won't break.
It's just a demonstration how our technology is developing.
We will find a use for it.

+video!
Hey you're the guy that fucked up my private server! Hey asshole! :)
Why does the guy randomly hammer the table after hitting the screens on the table? :downs:
Drunk.
flexible OLED screens have been around forever man
You still have the PCB... I'll wait until that's flexible and then we'll see.
How is that even possible
They have regular OLED TV's for sale now. No these that flex. I can see this being the display of the future.
I also saw a show on TV where they said it would eventually be possible to print off screens like printing on paper. Making all sorts of displays cheep as all hell.
I want one on my shirt with videos playing.
I would play a loop of Rick Astley singing his famous "Never Gonna Give You Up", and people would inquire who it is and where they can get a copy of that wonderful video.

or just look like a spazz.

Thanks Buzz Killington.
LED paint is next
I want one.
Science!
I'm rather sure that your father didn't tell you to go and tell every last bit of detail on the internet.
I always thought that companies businesses such as the production information of a modern day gadget is highly classified.
This actually isn't classified at all, and the company my dad works for was just a small piece of the earlier stages (they designed the honey-comb pixel design that houses the dyes). Now that they're into the more final stages, there's nothing to hide. In fact, several other companies have this same technology, it's just that Samsung has the most money/effort/resources put into it. It's like the computer market: several people know how to do it, it's a matter of who can do it best now.
You have a "OLED" tv?
