i guess all barfights on the nexus must be like wrestling matches with how far that headbutt missed
Well someone did take that salarian's chair from under him (without him noticing too), so maybe it is a wrestling match in progress... And then

That black guy even spits, so yeah, clearly. These are not animation errors, it's all actually accurate.
when was this kind of thing a big deal? really?
do you play smashing the direction keys like that?
"I spent 60 dollars so this action RPG must have the most accurate human reaction to me screwing with the controls like having a seizure"
fight me, however that dialogue animation is real crap for what it should be
Yeah but if I do it in the video games I play (such as Zelda and GTAV), it's fine.
No weird Crab Walk at all.
[editline]16th March 2017[/editline]
All that happens for me is the character changes directions.
Nothing weird at all.
[editline]16th March 2017[/editline]
Oh and just to add, if I walk slowly up stairs, my characters legs don't get glued in a position, then moved to the next stair, and have the rest of the body lean forward, on a staircase, like in the video.
They just walk up a staircase.

its like watching a movie with really terrible special effects, every minor thing can take you right out of the mood the games trying to set and usually its not so bad if its just lip syncing or a weird line delivery, but it's literally everything mashed in at once and it makes it look so amateur
how come the frostbite engine doesn't have facial animations?
they should've stuck with UE.
Haven't seen this one yet.

It's not the engine, i'd say it's bioware not bothering, as BF4/HL and BF1 have decent facial animation as far as i remember

How does a company on a low budget make a much more entertaining game with good animations and a decent plot back in 2004 yet these idiots barely even tried?
I've gotten to the end of the trail thing, and I honestly feel like I'm playing a different game than most of the people in this thread have seen. Outside of ONE character (Addison, the horrible Colonial director lady with shitty makeup who animates like a realdoll stretched over a Chuck E Cheese animatronic), the game looks amazing. The faces on the aliens, especially, are really neat. Nothing was worse than "meh." And the animations in world are really slick and smooth.
Its got some jank, but it's very good.

Haven't read all of the profiles of people working on the game but some are straight out of college and one of the women coding hasn't done any coding for four years.

If this game was made by novice developers, I'm fucking floored because it's incredible to play.
Glaring front-end presentation errs call for concerns for all other aspects of the game, as any idiot can spot the immediate (animation) issues.
It may be a sign of troubled development, nonetheless it is far from representing the entirety of the game's content.
It might have kickass writing, engaging gameplay, or addictive exploration? You can't tell just from the crappy animations.
Yet, we can't discount the fact that the game's poor animations indicating the project's overall or partial distress.
It is completely normal to brace for disappointment, or keep the optimism, whoever's judging.
I've been telling myself for a long time now that I won't buy any Bioware games until they hire proper animators. Looks like I have a long time to wait.

Yeah.
Behind those shit animations and some bad writing, there's an enjoyable experience out there.
I'm calling mismanaged budget
it's inexperienced devs with a lack of guidance.
What do you do at BioWare?
Janice: Still trying to figure that out. [laughs] In a nutshell, I look at how we make our games and see if there’s a better way. Across the board, I do everything from management to optimization.
Karin: There’s no short answer. There are two major facets—there’s the editing to make words pretty, including dialogue, marketing materials, voice-over, and internal work. The other side is production, as we interface between writers and localization teams.
Jo: I’m a writer. If it’s got words, we’ve probably touched it. But me specifically? I’m the lore nerd.
Claire: I’m an in-game animator. I make the characters and creatures move in the game. Running, attacking, jumping, dying. Mostly dying.

Name one unexpected thing that helped you land your job at BioWare.
Janice: I took a shot, and they were thankfully willing to take a chance on me. I didn’t think I was qualified at all. I hadn’t written code in three to four years. But I took a shot. I think a lot of us suffer from being self-conscious, or not having as much confidence as we should, so be confident.
Karin: The interview question I never expected to get was, “If you had 24 hours on a holodeck, what would you do?” I stopped, paused and then responded with, “I don’t think I can actually tell you what I would do in a job interview.” The reply was, “That’s the right answer.”
Claire: I refused to do something, actually. The interviewer asked what I wanted to do, and I was like, “I would like to do dragons.” They replied, “We don’t do dragons, we do spaceships.” “I don’t want to do the spaceships,” I said. “Well, we do spaceships.” [laughs] They decided they wanted someone who knew what they wanted to do and I said alright, I’ll take the job.

What is your favorite thing that you’ve worked on?
Claire: I worked on a ‘Big Robot Thing’ in Mass Effect: Andromeda. I helped design it from the beginning. It was the first giant creature I’ve ever worked on and was a monumental task. There’s some crazy animation, with lots of twisting and stuff. It was really fun to animate.

Claire: Start on your project instead of learning. You learn more by doing. And do something you like. If you don’t like making it, people won’t like playing it.
Jo: Make a game. A simple game. Just do it. Start by making mods. Get a toolset. Doing it will teach you how it’s done. One finished game in a portfolio is worth 20 ideas. And be prepared to work hard. Talent is only part of the equation.
I'd like to find out what makes it like this. Is it management thinking that throwing people at a project will make it work? Where does it go wrong?
I see too often that the real core people fuck off and start their own company or something.

I wonder when was the last time I've read a greentext that ended with "Open the door, get on the floor, everybody walk the dinosaur."
I've never cared to play a Mass Effect game, and I don't care to play this one, but I've gotta wonder how many of these animation fuckups are happening due to the players purposely fucking with them.
Like is there a crouch button you can continuously mash to make the character run like she's about to shit herself? Is that really just happening naturally?
The game has been looking so bad I just find myself thinking "It can't be THIS bad, right?"

i think it speaks volumes if hundreds of people have managed to make a so-far extremely mediocre game.
The game also apparently crashes a ton in Multiplayer for more than just me.
How is this game launching in like, five days?

Well I mean, Bioware's corpse isn't getting any fresher, so why not?
It's a bit worrying when the aliens look less bizarre than the humans. :v:

The internet hate machine is a crazy thing.
I just pre-ordered the game today, because the "bad" things I've seen have all been completely insignificant and nitpicky things, and I am confident the game will be great regardless.

I've been let down only a handful of times in my life by any games, and I really doubt this game will be on par with No Man's Sky. If the in-game animations are shitty I couldn't care less, I'm playing it for the story/characters anyway
I mean the gameplay is great which I didn't expect so these little things aren't as noticeable while playing

The banter between characters in the first hour or so is lame. Scott and Sara Ryder aren't great in that sense either
Hopefully it's in the long term

I'm liking what I see from that goofy Asari, and I hope the new species guy is kind of like Mordin. It's a shame we won't be getting a Quarian companion since they're my fav, but regardless I'm sure the dialogue between characters will get better as the game goes on.
I mean, ME2 had some lame ass dialogue(asides from the talk with the Illusive Man) in the first hour or so of the game, and it ended up having probably the greatest story, characters, and ending of all three(although ME3 had some really great moments as well).
[editline]16th March 2017[/editline]
I'm pre-loading as we speak for the early access thing, so I guess I'll see for myself in around an hour.
