What the fuck does "my face is tired" even mean
The more I think about it the less sense it makes
it's the physical sensation of strain / exhaustion in your face after prolonged bouts of laughter, as your cheek muscles etc tense up and stay tensed
Probably what she was supposed to look like tbh.

It doesn't help that her VA sounds like a Dragon Age NPC like it really doesn't mesh with every voice in this game
Probably what she was supposed to look like tbh.

Now she looks... prettier?? The only thing wrong in the first one seems to be the bulging eyes but most people complaining about their faces is because they look ugly? I honestly don't get the hate. I can understand the animations being fucked but characters not looking like hot models are fine by me.
Probably what she was supposed to look like tbh.

It has to be deliberate, Bioware's got such an awful track record with modeling women's faces they have in the studio that it must be on purpose. Nobody's this bad at their job.
Probably what she was supposed to look like tbh.
The problem with her isn't that she isn't the hottest gurl around, but that she just looks.. unnatural. The facial animations and fucked up expressions have a lot to do with this
Like half of the people on the bridge of the nexus genuinely look like they hit random on the creator. Like the creature with the orange hair and a monkeys face
Now she looks... prettier?? The only thing wrong in the first one seems to be the bulging eyes but most people complaining about their faces is because they look ugly? he facial features are like too big for her head she looks like a cartoon everything looks like its 1.2x the size it needs to be
[editline]17th March 2017[/editline]
and theres no shadowing for the eyes or hair

Well if I'm going to be playing the whole game with her, I would rather take the one on the right.
The one on the left looks unnatural and its going to bother me every time I see her in a cutscene.

Not the point. Although making the main character look fucking ugly in and of itself is very weird, the biggest problem I find with Sarah's ugly mug is that she's supposed to be based on a real person, a real person who doesn't actually look like a spastic mongoloid with multiple developmental disorders.
Bioware already did that to Yvonne Strahovski in OT, which actually points to a conclusion that it's not a deliberate "art direction" (as if chewing up and mangling a real person's likeness can be a deliberate decision).

some people theorize that they made the Ryder heads slightly disproportionate on purpose to attempt to emphasize their inexperience and youth compared to someone like Shepard
the problem is that this makes the female Ryder look like her face is on the path to becoming Gollum
I thought female Ryder's blank smile was bad, but goddamn
holy shit
holy shit that's hilarious. I've read that custom faces tend to be more emotive and less disgusting/ridiculous, which is a shame because in ME games I always just roll default shep. I'm not huge on custom characters in bioware games.
Is it possible for them to fix some of this stuff after it's already released? Or are you just kinda stuck with it as is.
I love Mass Effect and I'll probably still get it eventually but I was not really enticed to pre-order.
There's pretty much no way that will happen.
From what I can tell, these are almost all asset bugs, which means they can only be fixed by redoing the assets one-by-one. By the time they'd be done, the release window would be long over.
To be honest I'd be more concerned if they actually tried to fix the game completely at this point, because that would be really bad management.
This doesn't go for programming bugs like the T-posing or smaller corrections like the backwards gun, though.
Even if you can't fix some of them with programming, you can at least relatively efficiently write tools that tell you exactly where that bug exists in the animations once you're aware.
Notice how there's literally no movement below the lower eyelid. It's like a mask. It's not motion capture.
actually this is the face they used for motion capture

Even Pewdiepie is on it.
I don't get how they made the lowest quality faces and facial animations
and then made vistas and general scenery that is unbelievably good looking

Different departments is my guess. And deadlines, the human characters all show signs of some major rushing: the eyes. They're very badly done, they either look matte or they glow - there's no shadow and scleras are perfectly white, there's no detail.
Here's what I actually don't get about the eyes... I imagine there being no shadow in previous games is due to engine limitations so they had to make the texture darker and make details more pronounced. But why the hell is it still so bad on the new engine? And then this: everything looks very great. Krogans look awesome, salarians look proper alien, asari... well, look like asari idk, they look fine, no big difference there; the new races look like they belong. And humans just look like they were ported straight out of ME3 with no design overhaul whatsoever. As a result they look out of place in the new environment. I don't get it.
Moving left to right while running forward and having the legs fly around like that does look silly but it's not down to bad animation work, it's just down to someone making a fucking highlight reel of pissing around with the controls and making the animations look awful, cut scenes and what not there's no excuse which is fine to take the piss out of, even I did that, but for free movement and shit, no, it's funny but don't take it seriously and just judge the game based on that.

Lets just forget about those legs, honestly it's just dumb to pay any attention to that. Yeah it looks funny, but it means nothing at all. Sure they could've done a better job, sure it's something that would've been ironed out with some proper quality control and testing, but the game's visuals have a bigger issue - inconsistency, that one is actually pretty bad.
sheesh these people really have a complete lack of self-awareness
I bet this entire game is a money laundering scheme for some big wig at EA. 40 MILLION DOLLARS.
I can let funny walking glitches slide. What I can't deal with us how absolutely garbage the people look. A main point is to talk to people and they all look like potatoes. What the fuck? This isn't oblivion, it's 2017. The previous ME games had designs and aesthetics that looked like they belonged. These just look like they intentionally fucked it up.

yeah it honestly doesn't make sense how hit and miss it is.
Talk with Vetra(Turian)? Excellent across the board, some iffy writing perhaps but animations are fine, even on the Ryder twins they're acceptable.
Meet Drak? Excellent animations on his face. Meet the female Krogan? Excellent animations on her face.
Every salarian you meet in the game? Very well animated faces that look believable.
Go talk to a human? Be confronted by a hybrid human-potato.

Woah wait hold up, Mass Effect: Andromeda took 5 years and 40 million dollars to make?
The Witcher 3 took 3.5 years and 31 million dollars to make.

I don't know what's worse, Bioware designing a woman like Cora and then writing her off as straight or the people throwing a hissy fit at a woman being heterosexual.
i dont understand how her design makes her gay though so the only stupid people are the ones whining that she is. if anything her design just turns people off.

What's so gay about Cora? The haircut?..
