We're talking about DC trying to make a Cinematic universe in the same vein as Marvel. Man of Steel is the first entry in this universe so don't be stupid.
Also posting Half in the Bag? Whats the point of posting someone else's opinion? You watched the movie, the guy you're quoting watched the movie, RLM isn't the end all and be all of movie reviews (Ofc you didn't say they are) so why are you posting them?
I don't agree with all of their points but it's easier to post it rather than make a very detailed paragraph, since they're going to point out issues it had way better than I can
, I liked it, but there are a lot of issues I feel like it really has. Sorry if that was shitty to do.
it tried to be way too hardedge like nolan, which is 10/10 amazing for nolan and he makes amazing films, but absolutely shitty for superman, and it was really hard to connect to him at all of any personal level because he was a very bland character with no flavor. The movie was really made sour by the shitty color filters too.
You really want another 6 or 7 years worth of Batman origins? It's pretty clear they'll flashback to early/important parts of his career and its still only the start of Supermans journey, as well as the rest of the JL outside of Wondy and Bats.
Anyway having both companies do the same thing would be boring.
I dunno, I just feel like they're gonna cram a bunch of stuff into it to explain it all, which doesn't always work out. Maybe they could release like comics or something. I just feel like putting all of Batman's stuff into one movie would make it feel rushed.

i can agree with you that man of steel was not the best. but it looks like they're going to expand on his character a lot here with his clark kent persona and his role as a super powerful alien being. also, the "hardedge" in nolan wasn't really hardedge, just more realistic.

everyone knows batmans origin. kids parents are murdered, then he trains and becomes a guy in a batsuit. they can do all that plus robin in a 5 minute flashback sequence, and bam, backstory done.
I am pretty happy with the trailer so far
people are shitting on this movie really hard, I know they aren't going to make it totally amazing or anything but I know it's not going to be as shitty as people think it'll be.
people are just pessimists. And super heroism is probably insanely hard to get right in film.
I just saw The Dark Knight Returns. Was better than I was expecting it to be; wouldn't mind if Batman vs Superman was simply an adaption of that.
I don't really like how they're jumping ahead this far in the universe without any backstory to it. It's like they released The Avenger's first.
Honestly, fuck no.
We're done needing origins stories. If every time we do a film, we need to do a film of setup just to get us there, we're never going to do anything cool.
We just had a Batman trilogy ends, people may be confused, but I think most people will get the concept that "This is a different batman continuity"

Even the relatively unknown to the public at large heroes like Black Panther and pretty much everyone in the Suicide Squad are all just starting out as is, no origin.

Besides, the animated movie adaptations of famous DC storylines have been done in complete disorder and it's worked very well for them so far.
Those Stormtrooper goons look straight out of a Wolfenstein game.
I approve.
Hmm. I'm just confused about the trailer is all. Why is Batman pissed at Superman? Was that Superman flying around fucking shit up or someone else? If it was Superman why is he going around and saving people in the next scenes shown? Why does Superman have an army?

Superman destroyed Wayne Tower and maybe killed someone important to the bat?

1. Pretty clear in the trailer and the last 3 pages of discussion.
2. Superman from Man of Steel ties into first question.
3. Because in the Man of Steel destruction scenes it is considered "Collateral" damage from him thus setting up for people who witness the destruction like Bruce Wayne to think of him as a threat.
4. I think it has something to do from the comic or another timeline.
I'm in love with the Armour suit.
Why is Batman pissed at Superman?
The Zod fight in Man of Steel fucked Metropolis up, Bruce doesn't trust Supes with the power that he has.

He was probably fighting with Bats when he was fucking shit up, or it could be something that relates to your last question.
Why does Superman have an army?
[sp]That scene is supposedly a dream sequence involving an Injustice style future where Supes has absolute control over everything.[/sp]
Jessie Eisenburg looks so punchable as Lex Luthor.
-snip-
why everyone says its a dream sequence?
please, give me a source of that
"gay versus night"
Speaking of Injustice, I'd really like to see that in movie format-- although it's a tad long, it'd probably need a full trilogy or something, or perhaps a small TV show.
Yeah, that dream sequence thing is prob bullshit. Judging by the trailer, Lex is obviously funding an army to spurr distrust between Superman and populace.
The person who first mentioned dream shit was like El Mayimbe and he's pretty much a random. Should be ignored tbh
Unless the movie employs the multiverse as a plot device, having Superman be at the head of his own army of religious zealots bearing his emblem as an insignia which is tracking Batman down what looks like the ruins of a city while he's wearing a pieced together survivor suit with a fucking trench coat and goggles has got to be a dream.
It's such a far gone scene that it cannot be anything else but a dream or a multiverse situation. It also draws very heavy inspiration from Injustice, and comes soon after Batman just outright says in the trailer that he's worried Superman may as well just bring the end of the world and turn entire countries into dusty wastelands.
And if it was a real event and not a dream or a vision of a multiverse, then it means we got spoiled the last possible chronological event in the movie because that's about as far gone as Superman can go, and I doubt they'd go that far in his character development in the second movie of this new continuity.

origin stories should only be done at this point if nobody knows who the character is or if there are critical things in the origin the creators want to explore or experiment with. seeing as how bvs is gonna focus on entirely different things, another batman origin movie would just be tiresome.
besides most superheroes' origins can be summed up pretty damn easily. all star superman did a great job.

also all this talk about evil superman and dictator superman really makes me appreciate the dark knight returns version. it's pretty good criticism of superman and the direction people seem to take with him. he's not entirely bad and in his mind, it's the best "non-violent" way of going about things. but he also does it by being a spineless yes-man to lawful authority (even if they're awful) with his mindset of "USA NUMBER 1"/"I AM AN EARTHLING, EARTH IS THE BEST". it's something i could see a lot of versions of superman actually become.
So this is set approximately in the modern day, right? So that means that Batman was probably Batman in the 90s.
... Is this George Clooney Batman after retirement?
I love how the hatred of superman in this movie was kicked off by the fight with zod that everyone complained about in real life
theres only been one DC movie, so i don't think its fair to judge its amount of flavor yet. until suicide quad and BvS come out, of course.
seeing what i've seen through the trailers and man of steel, i think DC movies might actually be better than MCU. though man of steel was flawed, zod and the kyrptonians actually felt like threatening villains and the fight scale was off the roof. of course there was the dumb pa kent scene and superman tore down buildings full of civilians left and right, but it looks like BvS addresses that with scenes of protest and humans being afraid. it looks like it is going continue to improve on the themes they built on man of steel, which is really good because if there was one thing man of steel did right, it was that superman is supposed to be a beacon of hope that helps people despite their hatred for his immense power.
I hate to reiterate this point but go and watch Man of Steel again and Superman doesn't directly tear down a single building, more so the building collapse is the collateral damage of the fight which is beyond his control.
i mean, batman looking like gaslight batman coming out of a bomb shelter with a city in ruins in the background with a bunch of supestroopers fighting him is too surreal for it to actually be a real event.
the dream theory is plausible.

What is the guy on the right doing??
Why is Batman fighting Superman anyway?
