Apparently, that blue wearing character might not be Link.
Words from Eiji himself.
It was said, if I'm not wrong, at the Q&A that ended not long ago.
If I find a source, I'll post it.
In the meantime, some people think that might come with some sort of customization in the game. But I'll wait until it's confirmed in the coming months.
Or year.
Heroine Zelda and Prince Link?
Hmm...
Heroine Zelda and Prince Link?

I thought this as well, Link has had his feminine moments but this straight up looks like a girl and also there's a lot of emphasis on the bow, something Zelda is typically using. Though i'm not saying it's Zelda. Ranged combat for females seems to be a thing in LoZ.
I don't care who it is. I'm in it for the adventure.
great now I have to buy a fucking wii u
I got a few pictures from the trailer. These first two might show a slight bust on the character:

And these show that there is no sword to be found on this character.

(They were bigger than I thought.)

Seriously though. Nintendo, if I get to play a female Link or Heroine Zelda, I will go buy a Wii U immediately upon confirmation (if I have the money, so it probably won't happen immediately.)
A female protag would be really cool, but I am getting the feeling that the "it may not be Link" hint isn't implying that you're not playing as Link, just that the character in the trailer is someone else.
Wait, does he have a pony tail on the back of her head?
I see a small bump on the head but I'm not sure yet

aren't you a completely different 'link' in most zeldas anyway? like different generations?
a female protag that looks exactly like link would still be link. just chick link.

Yeah but someone said in another thread that this could be Link's daughter
What if it's his sister from Wind Waker.
"What a twist!"
I have a question, is ganondorf the same person in every game or is he a different ganon (diff. generation)?

I'm assuming he follows the same rules as Zelda and Link when he dies, considering [sp]Ocarina of Time's ending[/sp]

There is actually a sword, but it's really easy to miss.

He's a reincarnation in Wind Waker as well, since he was defeated by the Hero of Time in the Wind Waker branch.

Sealed away, not killed.
Sealed away, not killed.
They say sealed but they also state him as being resurrected (twice) as well, not just released.
Looks like its a good year to buy a wii u.
[sp] i just bought one after typing this post [/sp]

Hyrule Warriors and Zelda U are completely different games.
Slatoon and zelda and shit like that is making me thing I should get a wii u over other consoles.
most good exlusive shit will go to PC anyways eventually, and I have a high end PC.
Nintendo has a totally unique style of fun to it.

Uh no. in twilight princess the knight who teaches you sword skills is Link from OoT, Link is the same in Oot and MM but that's it.

Fuck. So many games I want for things so many platforms: pretty much every game released recently on the WiiU, I'm contemplating getting a PS4/XB1 for a few games like Halo and KH3 and also my PC is due an upgrade for GTA5. I need a job.
But yes, this game looks incredible, never got into the Zelda series before but my friend recommended it and after looking at Wind Waker HD I decided I was interested. Basically tangent shortened: I think Nintendo have came back so well this E3.

I don't know if this protagonist is male or female, but they're super cute~~~

Eiji you troll.

^ That's correct, in one of the Timelines (The MM Timeline) Link dies and teaches Link in Twillight Princess the sword skills but it's the same kid from OoT.
Also the Link from Wind Waker is the same one from Phantom Hourglass.
The Link from A Link to the Past is the same one from Oracle of Season/Ages and Link's Awakening.
Every other link is always another guy and we are always dealing with another zelda incarnation.

Even if it was a female protagonist, it'd still be Link. I knew he was trolling hard.
All you need for a Link to exist is a tunic, a funny hat, and that mediumish hair thing he has going on. He is already pretty androgynous throughout, it wouldn't of been a surprise if one reincarnation was a girl. Link's a template, it'd be more weird if they genderbent Zelda or Ganon.

I think Link to the Past Link is the longest running singular Link. He's got LttP, the two Oracles, and Awakening
