In where of the video he calls him blatantly a piece of shit? Ofc i have no clue what im talking about because you dont think i was depressed before. The life we live in requires us to live someone elses life, theres always a price to things and you cant afford killing yourself, its not that easy. Ive been there. Took shitload if pills, went to therapy. In fact hes making the greatest speech ive seen about this topic by far.
So the best way to talk with someone who used to be suicidal is by calling him an asshole and overall shit talking him. Are you really sure that his tone was perfectly fine and he didn't go a bit overboard?
It almost feels like community is desperately trying and grasping at the straws to get this guy depressed like theirselves. That alone does not help an empathy for the kid, or the others. Im just saying depression isnt fixed with a tap on the back. You need something to just explode in your life so you start doing what you needed to be doing 2 years ago. Its not easy as its said, but nobody said it would be easy.
no one is trying to make him depressed lmao people are saying that his behavior was juvenile and excessive he is making light of a mental condition that he does not have nor does he understand and in a society that already draws comparisons between general mental illness and more serious afflictions like psychotic disorders or general insanity, this is a massive step backwards and is overall an attempt to boost his ego and not help anyone at all, least of all the person who was looking to him for support, not a verbal punishment. [editline]20th April 2016[/editline] all depression is not treated the same way. not everyone can be pushed and berated as a form of treatment and to assume so is asinine and completely off base.
Im just saying depression isnt fixed with a tap on the back. You need something to just explode in your life so you start doing what you needed to be doing 2 years ago. Its not easy as its said, but nobody said it would be easy.
For some people that explosion is just the push they need to actually make them go through with suicide. I don't doubt in some cases tough love can help, and if that's how you got through it then that's great. Really. But it's just as likely to do more harm than good. Like I said, everybody is different, and should be treated as such. There is no "one cure for all" with depression.
I don't see any problem
Imagine if his entire chat had agreed with him and suddenly you had a couple hundred people saying you were an asshole, luckily that didn't seem to happen.
I don't see any problem
The person who was this kids saving grace against committing suicide just told him he's a selfish asshole. Now its likely the kid could very well return to his suicidal state because the one thing he held on to justify living just verbally shit on him.
I would feel awkward if a random guy told me they tried to kill themself too. [editline]20th April 2016[/editline] Yeah he should have just assumed it was a troll and ignored it. (It probably was a troll, and that troll annihilated him)
I would feel awkward if a random guy told me they tried to kill themself too.
Then do, like, literally anything else that doesn't involve calling the random guy an asshole.
I would feel awkward if a random guy told me they tried to kill themself too. [editline]20th April 2016[/editline] Yeah he should have just assumed it was a troll and ignored it. This just shows the guy is a genuine asshole, i can straight up see his point that he wanted to make but the way he worded it was like he was intentionally trying to spur up a shitfest and to make it worse.
Its like saying "Yeah just sleep off the depression and it will go away eventually."
depression masters are here i see. would you like to teach us more about how to get over it? you seem to be helping a lot. tell us more about how its selfish and pressure them more. thats definitely gonna stop it. jesus christ
Also that kid who told everyone he was trying to kill himself should have his twitch account banned.
Its like saying "Yeah just sleep off the depression and it will go away eventually."
what the fuck as someone who's struggled with depression since I was 14 (21 now) I wish it was that goddamn easy. People lack so much empathy and understanding of others with mental illnesses, it's not something that just goes away.
It almost feels like community is desperately trying and grasping at the straws to get this guy depressed like theirselves. Calling someone a selfish asshole because they said "Hey man I basically attempted suicide but you brought a light into my life" is not the way to go about responding to that. And I don't know about other people but I don't tend to act selfish when I'm depressed, I empathize. I don't WANT people to feel the same way I do, because it sucks.
Also that kid who told everyone he was trying to kill himself should have his twitch account banned.
Why? For what purpose?

You should go get professional help. I highly doubt someone privileged enough to have the time and money to waste watching twitch is actually suicidal. It's just some dumb over-dramatic tumblerite
what the fuck as someone who's struggled with depression since I was 14 (21 now) I wish it was that goddamn easy. People lack so much empathy and understanding of others with mental illnesses, it's not something that just goes away.
This. Depression doesn't even need to have ANYTHING to do with any difficulties you're dealing with in real life. Depression and suicidal thoughts isn't giving up on life, and it doesn't necessarily define a person at all. I was extremely suicidal for almost 3 months when I was 13. Did I have anything to be suicidal or depressed about? Not at all. My life was fantastic. Why did I have these thoughts then? It was a lingering effect (hormonal/vitamin disbalance) of food poisoning I received and was in all definitions clinical depression. I had zero control over it, and only medicine could help it. And that's from outside influence. If depression comes from within - whether it is clinical or emotional, it's hundreds of times harder to get rid of. I was lucky.
He's right that you shouldn't be telling everyone about it trying to get sympathy points for it. You should go get professional help.
I agree with that but thats not what this guy said, sure you should get proffesional help but this brandon guy acts like you magically obtain it and that you should hide it and especially that can make it so much worse, so in some way it does define you at that point.
Have you been on twitch? I highly doubt someone privileged enough to have the time and money to waste watching twitch is actually suicidal. It's just some dumb over-dramatic tumblerite
Let's look at someone else who had privilege, money, fame, and respect. Despite having all of these, Robin Williams still succumbed to depression. Do you know why? Because depression is an illness and has nothing to do with whether or not your have a good life.
Ah, the classic "make them feel so bad that they don't kill themselves"-mentality introduced by assholes.
Pretty surprised that this is the straw that broke the camel's back....DMBrandon is an ass, he would have been cut off long ago if he worked for any other company. His toxicity towards other players embodies what is wrong with MOBAs (And according to him berating his teammates and calling them shit constantly is just 'tough love' and he is only trying to help them get better). Not sure how many VODs from his streams are up but over the last year or so I have seen a lot of snippets and he is one of the biggest raging assholes you'll see playing the game and if he knows you are listening to him or you get put into Curse Voice with him in-game he will shit all over you for every possible thing he can while simultaneously not recognizing that he has made any mistakes whatsoever. One that pops out to me from memory is when he was doing one of his subscriber only custom games, and paused the game to sit and berate one of his subscribers for making a couple of small mistakes while also threatening to ban them from his channel despite the fact that these are his fans who are by no means pro players just wanting to play with him.
it's always phrased as "A HIREZ EMPLOYEE SAID..." It's the same way the media spins stories for dramatic effect. tell a much more biased tale of a story than "An individual-" would.
Don't really see how this is his defense. The problem is that he is hired by HiRez as a caster and is a streamer and is basically a very public facing figure who is directly associated with the company/game. His constantly unprofessional-ness, his knack for causing drama all the time and his massively toxic behavior coupled with the fact that HiRez have been silent every time there has been an uproar by the community for it just further pushes the message of 'HiRez is totally fine with being associated and having their game promoted by people like this' Of all the dramas kicked up in the past a few have had one of the bigwigs from HiRez release a press statement for damage control on how they are going to deal with the situation etc, then after that Brandon is on his best behavior for a short while until his next flare up. Looks like he blew his last chance though, especially with a subject like this.
It's almost as if he misread the "I attempted suicide" as "I will attempt suicide"
Last night, people were playing devil's advocate for suicide. People were honestly attacking me for saying that Suicide is not the answer. People were getting massively upvoted, saying things like "Suicide should be a person's choice." I can't battle things like this, honestly. I don't know how people's hate for me in a video game got so great that they'd take the side of suicide just to continue arguing. And that shouldn't be placed on anyone but me.
Obtuse. You were berated for being an asshole.
"Stop having cancer!"
I find it strange how he blew up over that. Possibly someone in his life committed suicide and he's triggered?
I find it strange how he blew up over that. Possibly someone in his life committed suicide and he's triggered?
Nah, he's just from New Jersey.
he should have just said "i didn't help you, you helped yourself" and ended it at that lol since thats what he wanted to say at the end anyways what an ass
This is actually a very good answer. It takes along time, but people in the victim's suroundings should motivate this guy to improve his worth. Make him actually feel good about himself.
He said that depression and anxiety aren't real because everyone gets depressed or anxious sometimes. Seriously fuck this guy
I really was hoping someone would come in from outside of the camera and suckerpunch this twat right in the ugly gab, followed by half an hour of wonderful yelling. But alas.
The way he's worded it was extremely shitty but he's got a point. You shouldn't be putting a burden like that on someone you don't know personally, as it can affect them negatively.
This itself is such a selfish attitude. You weren't given a choice when you were born in to this world, and it should absolutely be your choice if you want to end your life. In addition to this, do you really think it's a good idea to be calling a suicidal person selfish? Have some empathy.
Have you been on twitch? I highly doubt someone privileged enough to have the time and money to waste watching twitch is actually suicidal. It's just some dumb over-dramatic tumblerite
As someone who's actually dealt with suicidal thoughts for the past 5-7 years of their life this is probably the worst thing I've ever read on this site and you should seriously be ashamed.
