• Battlefront 2's campaign is already a mess by the first three levels alone

I'm still trying to figure out why people thought EA wouldn't be EA, after being EA with the first one.
There's actually a couple cool sequences I saw later in the game involving actually roaming around as some of the hero characters in 'safe' locations. Where is that game? I want to play a game like that... Just remake the Lego Star Wars trilogy, but full scale.
The original Battlefront 2 was what really got me into both Star Wars and first person shooters. At E3, the unveiling and gameplay of the new one was probably one of my highlights of the show and at the time it was my most anticipated title of the year. During the Beta I enjoyed the base gameplay but was a little put off with the addition of COF bloom and recoil, something that wasn't present in the original or the initial reboot and something I felt wasn't necessary in Battlefront. I posted this on the forums and initially I was told by some that I had to be a shitter, that there was no way I could be arguing against a recoil mechanic without being a no-skill baddie and I couldn't have any other reason for thinking that way despite having over 1k hours altogether in Battlefield and similar games. Eventually, an EA staff moderator informed me that the change was because it was positive feedback they had received from their EA Game Changers program, AKA 'A focus group of EA-friendly youtubers who play a shitload of Battlefield.' I was put off, but the infantry gameplay still wasn't BAD or anything and the space combat was fantastic, so I figured I'd still be buying. Then the microtransactions. At first I figured I'd live with it and I wouldn't buy any, and the grind probably wouldn't be too bad. Then it turned out the grind was disgustingly terrible. I figured I'd wait to buy and it'd probably get better, and if nothing else I was pretty excited for the Imperial campaign, which sounds like a fresh change of pace from some pretty samey and boring plots as of recent. [sp]Then it turned out Iden defects to the Rebels after 3 missions of playing as her with the Imperials.[/sp] I'm so bummed.

Between Battlefront 2, and NFS, does EA have any big releases left this year that aren't seeing huge public disapproval? I wonder what their Q4 earnings will look like, compared to expectations...
The problem with Frostbite is that its being forced to do things it was never designed to do. Andromeda's biggest failure is that they were forced to use Frostbite which has ZERO RPG elements in it. [editline]14th November 2017[/editline] Frostbite is EA's version of Cryengine basically.
the AI at 0:33 is straight out of Max Payne 2.
The lead devs on frostbite still, to this day, can't even have players vault over objects properly. It's a massive bug that's existed since Battlefield 3 and it gets worse with every game. In BF1 it's nearly impossible to consistently vault over STATIC objects.
I've never noticed this? I've actually always thought the vaulting in Battlefield games were top notch. You can vault over objects without feeling like you're getting stuck in an animation that has to be lined up perfectly with the geometry to work right. It always seemed really fluid and easy to me.
Sorry just jumping on the MOHWF trashing train I love hating that game. please send me a medal for shittiest off-topic pageking of 2017 thanks

Ngl MOH warfighter is a pleasure of mine. My dad and I used to play it off and on.
the fact you play as the empire is cool that's about everything positive i have to say about this
the fact you play as the empire is cool that's about everything positive i have to say about this
[sp]not for very long[/sp] Honestly I didnt like the campaign very much, it was enjoyable but the story was shit. Spoilers below for those who havent played: [sp]The fact that you commit treason and join the rebels is shit and imo doesnt make sense for the character.[/sp] The missions where you play as the heroes were great, especially the han and lando ones. Dont play the campaign for the story, play it for the gameplay and funny interactions.
the fact you play as the empire is cool that's about everything positive i have to say about this
Classic Battlefront 2 has you playing as Clone and Imperial [sp]and you stay as Imperial[/sp] Classic Battlefront 1 has two campaigns where you first play as the baddies then switch to the goodies. First you play as Trade Federation for two missions, then Seps for one or two (can't remember for sure) then it's Clones for the rest of that campaign The second campaign has half Empire, half Rebellion
I'm still trying to figure out why people thought EA wouldn't be EA, after being EA with the first one.
There was a period when the game was announced saying how it'll drop the season pass and make all the dlc free, p much everyone was like "HOLY SHIT!". Of course, there's always a catch.
current count is -682k and I couldn't tell you what those other ea comments topping the chart are right now
I should probably comment that near 24 hours after making this post, the votecount on the EA comment [link for ease] has actually jumped positively by 5k votes, sitting now at -678. I wonder how many raw downvotes and upvotes it has received given this is basically a sum between them
In celebration of the release of Battlefront 2 I downloaded Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and am just playing that instead.
In celebration of the release of Battlefront 2 I downloaded Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and am just playing that instead.
In honor of BFII and my birthday on the same day, when the big guns in the modeling forum re-release the models, I'll make some shitty SFM videos with them. It'd be the best Birthday Present ever!
I'm really glad™ you could enjoy™ this classic STAR WARS™ title God damn KotOR 2 is one of my favorite games in all seriousness, I remember getting it on the original xbox when it released and playing through Peragus when I got home from school on a shitty CRT (which enhanced that really fuckin creepy mood Peragus had). Good shit, I'll have to do another runthrough of it.

Every game on frostbite with vaulting has had this. Your character just refuses to climb objects properly half the time
Considering the diversity of terrain and obstacles that the engine has to deal with, I'm willing to give it a bit of slack but that's also the level designers' fault for putting down so many objects that the vaulting system has a hard time dealing with. You do get a feeling for the system's limitations but even then I do get bamboozled by knee-high rocks at least once a match. It's a bit of a one-step-forward-one-step-back situation as I love being able to vault walls but I also do get killed often trying to get past a small wooden fence. [editline]20th November 2017[/editline] In addition, I think part of the problem is due to the "client-side calculated, server authenticated frame history" system (I hope I didn't butcher that). Basically your client is in charge of calculating your character's movements and your shots' ballistic path but then the server constantly compares the data from the last few ticks you've sent it to check if it's "valid" (E.G. you have high ping, you tell the server you scored a hit but the server declines it because on its end the enemy was already behind a wall). Works well with ballistics because while the frame history is short (E.G. 90% of the time bullets are only live for less than 20 ticks/300 miliseconds), it's more than enough to compensate for lag as you might never notice 1 or 2 shots being rejected over one match. Now with character movement, the frame history seems to fuck everything up. I think it has a very low tolerance for "valid" states when it comes to managing obstacles. Your PC goes "Going over this wall HUP!" but then the server checks if it's a "valid" displacement and finds that you "should" have collided with the window-frame/fence/bit of wood sticking out/wreck, so it rejects the last few ticks and reverts your coordinates to the last valid location. This seems to be something that is hardcoded or interacts with so many systems that they can't tweak it too much without breaking a shit ton of other things (such as causing players to warp through objects more often). Again, I'm not the most well versed in how the netcode for BF1 works but this is how I've seen it explained.
