Valve decides to make a documentary about professional gaming life

I used to work for a steam games lan cyber cafe - we had CS:S tournaments where teams came from all over and the prize was like $5,000
(I got to yell at people who ghosted.)
After seeing this, I really do believe that Valve needs to stop renting/leasing that space in Bellevue and should build their own campus and call it Valve Studios, just so it encompasses everything. Then they should start expanding out in to more aspects of this type of stuff.
those people are dumb because really? it may support you for awhile but how long do you think being a pro gamer will last? its not a reliable job and i can guarantee it wont last your whole life
so in the end, you'll be fucked over having done shit in school because of playing video games 24/7 and then it will be even harder to get a job because you thought you could sustain yourself being a pro gamer
That is an incredibly baseless thing for you to say, since I know of several progamers/people involved in the eSports community who have backups for their career, degrees, and other things. Being a progamer in one specific game may not last forever, but you are forgetting about the fact that eSports is just getting bigger and bigger, do you not think that there are other careers in the field than progaming?
I have noticed a lot of dumb hate on progamers and eSports on FP, I was the same way before I actually got interested in the scene, so I do know that if you have never involved yourself, you will make stupid baseless comments like this.

Team SoloMid, one of the biggest teams in the LoL competitive scene, is filled with dudes who have already completed uni/college or whatever
you should probably stop talking if you don't know what you're talking about
How the hell can you guys be excited over watching other people playing videos games all day as "pro gamers".
What's next a pro tv watcher documentary?

How can you guys be excited over watching other people playing sports all day?
Think for a second before you speak, it is entertaining watching the best of the best play it out, you aren't watching a guy playing the game, you are watching the guy playing the game IN the game.
Don't really see why people are comparing this to that Indie game movie. First of all, that guy they followed in the Indie game thing was a completely unlikable hipster. Also the filming crew tried to make it as deep as possible by using lots of scenes that had no relevance to the subject but looked cool. As far as I see this will actually give a look into the life of a professional gamer and the problems that comes with the job. Also the players seem pretty likable too with is always a plus.

Good point but sports actually shows skills and athleticism which were around for thousands of years.
Watching a skinny kid in front of a computer all day is just...boring.
This must be valve getting ready for some pro mlg CS:GO competitive stuff.

Can't blame them, how else were they gonna make a movie about people playing video games watchable? And judging from the trailer it looks like valve is gonna try to make things all deep too.
Also being a unlikable hipsters is a matter of opinion.

You know millions of people do the exact same thing, it's called football. You know how football fans get excited just when a player is about to score a goal? That's how it is like to watch a professional DOTA 2/SC/whatever match. That moment when someone just barely scores that kill across the map without even seeing the guy he was aiming at. Those times are fucking fun to watch. Also you tend to get quite attached to your favorite team so when they win you really enjoy it.

This just shows how little you know about the subject, which means that you really shouldn't be commenting on it, these games show off incredible skills, which one needs to train in in order to get to the highest level, otherwise fucking everyone would be a progamer. You also ideally need to work out and exercise in order to be on the top of your game mentally.
Why do you keep making the point that you are watching a skinny kid in front of a computer all day long? You do nothing of the sort, as I have said, you watch the people INGAME which means that you pretty much are never looking at the players. And generalizing everyone as a skinny kid is just silly, don't do that.

Watch that and tell me that professional gaming doesn't take a high level of skill and is totally boring to watch.
Also please don't complain about the music or editing. This video was the best I could find at the time and the commenting and gameplay is what I am arguing about.
I guess you guys have a point, I was being obnoxious and was hating on your hobby.
I'm sorry.
Aw shit Dendi is going to be in this.

No problem bro. I used to think of football kinda the same way you though of esports. But after I got into esports I totally understood why people liked football. I mean it's not something everyone enjoys but a lot of us do and you have to be somewhat into at least it to fully understand that feeling.
hyper sick footage of people who sit alone all day talk to people about an uninteresting subject
"we'll make millions"
This is like the "Indie Movie: The Game" documentary where it just ends up being a really sad movie about people who have no one else, as they talk about that games are all they have.
Did you watch the same documentary? I saw a bunch of people willing to sacrifice their social lives and willing to sacrifice a lot because they were extremely passionate and loved what they were doing. How was it sad, sure it was stressful and tedious but they loved the field they were in.
Not everyone enjoys what everyone else does, maybe those sorts of things don't interest certain types of people and they prefer more intellectual pursuits. Whats wrong with that? Personally I feel the same way, making an indie game seems a million times more exciting to me then going out partying, how many people do that all the time, doing something different and intellectual is more interesting to me.
Wait... there's really such thing as "pro gaming"? I'm not surprised I just honestly did not know that lol.
ITT people upset that they don't also get to play videogames for money and decide to hate on a documentary not even out
I made 95 dollars with Starcraft 2 winnings, its no big deal.
What annoys me about this documentary is that they are only covering the Dota scene, which imo is the most boring. Fighting games, CS, Quake, and Starcraft I feel are more iconic.
This looks like it'll just be the first 'step' in a series to be honest. I think they're just starting with Dota because it's the current upcoming eSport.

DOTA 2 is a Valve game, who do you think Valve are using it?
Dendi seems like a decent guy.
This wouldn't be nearly as melodramatic if it had SingSing in it.
singsing is so overrated
Terrible idea, a reoccurring direction with valves recent IPs and updates.
I want the old Valve back, when they would make good games, provide excellent mod tools, and not ruin the product.
